1 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 03/03/2020

Rack and pinion steering went completely out on vehicle causing car to crash into guardrail of a bridge. Car was in motion about to cross bay bridge when this happened, safety of driver and other vehicles was compromised. Car wars trying to turn right heading toward the bridge when rack and pinion failed car was stopped by hitting guardrail about 45 miles an hour. Starter had to be replaced the very next month also problems with transmission. All of this has been repaired by owner. I don't feel this should happen as vehicle does not have excess mileage on it.

2 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 09/27/2014

Brought my Honda Civic in for routine maintenance on 9/27/14. Was told I had a power steering leak and my entire power steering rack had to be replaced at a cost of $1200. 00. I was told the leak is very slow and not an immediate concern but that it will get worse. This seems to be an ongoing problem with this particular make, model and year for the Civic. There should be a recall!.

3 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 07/03/2014

Uneven tire wear, feathering and noise.

4 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 06/17/2014

The contact owns a 2010 Honda Civic. The contact stated that the rear driver's tire caved in. The contact took the tire off and noticed that the tire mount was bent and the wheel suspension arm was fractured in half. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 124,000.

5 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 03/20/2014

I purchased new tires at 52,000 miles after rotating the old ones every 8,000 miles. The old tires on the passenger side wore uneven on both the front and the rear since I rotated them 5 times. I took the car back to apple Honda in riverhead, new york where I purchased it. The service tech. Said "the rear right camber is out of alighnment ,something is bent. You have to take it to a body shop". I think it came this way when I purchased it brand new in 2010.

6 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 06/19/2013

I noticed when parallel parking that when I turned my steering wheel it would make a clicking noise coming from the drivers front. I drove again the next day and the noise got worse and started happening when I was turning my wheel while driving, and if I went over any bumps. I took my car in for servicing and they said that I needed my strut top replaced due to excessive wear and tear (I just bought the car 2 weeks prior). . . Well, they fixed the part and I took my car home and less than a month later the piece went bad again and needed to be replaced.

7 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 11/18/2011

There have been three (3) front end collisions on this vehicle. 2 were deer related. The first accident was a deer hit, at 60 mph. , body shop said because the deer hit directly in the center of the front of the car, airbags did not deploy. The second accident in November of 2012, daughter was traveling 69 mph on the interstate and swerved to avoid hitting a deer. She traveled approximately 300 feet down a ditch and back up the other side, striking an embankment, coming to rest 2 feet from oncoming traffic on the opposite side of the interstate. The virginia state police officer said at the time, he couldn't believe the airbag didn't deploy. The front end of the car was totally disengaged from the car. The last accident, June 2013, younger daughter was involved in a 3 car accident. She rear ended the car ahead of her who had rear ended the car ahead of it. Wet roads were a factor, however, this was again a front end collision, with a speed of 40+ mph. While we are very thankful that no one was injured in any of these accidents, it's certain the airbag in this vehicle does not work.

8 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 05/12/2010

Brand new 2010 Honda Civic lx. Has 320 miles on it and already car pulls to the right and has vibration at 45 mph and above. Rear tires showing early signs of uneven treadwear. I thought this problem was covered and resolved on previous model years. Apparently it has continued to the 2010 model. I have read another customer has the same problem on a 2010 on edmunds. Com. Will be going to dealer tomorrow and have them fix to spec and the previously issued TSB 08-001. Not impressed with dealer prep of the car as they should have caught it.
