There is a hole in rear passenger side air bag. Brought this up to Honda and they don't seem to think it's an issue I don't think I wanna find out if it will be an issue this hole was not there before and it just happened thru no fault of our own. Honda telling me to fix it on my own.
The passenger side airbag sign keeps coming out to tell the driver the airbag is disabled sometimes when there is a person who sits on the passenger side of the vehicle. Also received a recall of months ago but the dealer keeps saying everything is fine no recall on the list. It happened since the day I purchased in 2012 and it happens very often recently.
Upon occasion, this message appears on the alert panel passenger side side airbag failed (yes the word side appears twice) it does not stay on long - usually when I restart the car it goes away. I have not taken a picture of the alert. I have asked a service rep (non Honda) about it when I have taken it in for service. They could not find anything. The alert does stay on when the vehicle is put in motion. The date I entered below for when it last occurred is an estimate.
The vehicle display a message stating, "passenger side airbags off" both at rest and in motion. The message appears and remains on for a few seconds and then disappears. The Honda service team is unable to identify a failure as they feel it is working as designed. If a person moves while seated in the passenger seat, this message appears. Per a Honda representative, this is a user error as they expect a person will sit entirely still for the whole ride. Any movement can cause that message to appear.
Passenger side air bag turns off giving large trouble lights on dash happens weekly.
"takata recall" I was driving Honda Civic 2012 on a frontage road with my wife sitting on the front passenger seat . Unfortunately, other car crashed in my Honda Civic 2012 and driver, passenger side air begs got deployed. Surprisingly, I got injury marks on my hand from the air bag. I suspect most likely there was some fault in my air bags which resulted in injury marks on my hand. I do see that 2012 Honda Civic cars are not part of takata recall but I suspect some of 2012 Honda Civic cars including mine could have faulty air bags installed from the manufacturer. Please take needful actions.
I don't know what a takata recall is, but per Honda's website I have no recalls. I was in an accident on 5/21 around 2pm. I was driving on a straight city road close to getting on the highway going about 25mph. The woman who was driving next to me "didn't see me" as she turned into my lane. She scraped the whole passenger side door then her car lodged into my car near where the door & front part of the car meet on the passenger side. The car hit right neat the side airbag, but none of the airbags went off. That is what I'm worried about. Why did none of the airbags go off?.
I have had several issues with my airbag stating there is an airbag error in my car. I took it to Honda and they confirmed that in their computer it shows that there is something wrong with the driver side airbag but they don't know what. They told me in order to check it they would have to take the car apart and I will have to pay $300 up front just to check it. They also stated that it isnt covered in the warranty even though my car has never been in a car accident and it is a major safety issue. I have not been able to get it fixed because I cannot afford for them to even just look at my car. What is the point of having a 6 yr warranty coverage if Honda doesnt want to cover anything! over the summer I had a drainage leak that was coming from the electrical fuse in my car, guess what Honda did not care!. . . These days I think a bicycle would be the safest thing. . . Lol. . . Suffice it to say life is expensive and I don't think we will be getting a break. Thanks Honda for only caring about your sales & money and not caring about your customers safety! lives! families! wives! husbands! & childrens!.
Driving through parking lot at about 3 miles an hour pedestrian stepped in front of the vehicle I do apply the brakes upon doing so the driver side airbag in the steering column deployed. There was no contact with any other vehicle no damage whatsoever to the car other than the airbag seatbelt deploying. Took the car to the local Honda dealership a representative from Honda America looked up the car and said since there was a scratch on the bumper probably from a shopping cart, that there was sufficient evidence to say that the airbag should've went off. Honda refuses to take responsibility for the repairs for this vehicle that is now unsafe but on the road.
When I drive in the passenger side of the vehicle the passenger and side air bags turn off and on. It did this at least 30 times in a 1 hour drive and has happened numerous times. I weigh 130 lbs. But when my son sits there who weighs 150 lbs nothing happens. I have read several complaints. I took it to the dealer and they say nothing is wrong with it. They told me everything is working just fine and the sensors are fine. I have read through several complaints about the vehicle with this problem, but the dealerships and Honda seem to think it is ok.
Most of times the passenger in the front seat moves a little bit, the air bag is turned off. And I get a big notice saying the passenger air bag is turned off. This is a big problem and is very scary in most situations of failure of safety . I called several times & talk to service writer they just told me that my air bag system is normal nothing wrong with it . But 1 thing that I know if I got in auto accident and air bag system is not worked some one will have problems . I need help to let Honda manufacturer to aware this passenger side air bag go off even some 1 is sitting on the passenger side .
Since I have owned the car, the passenger side airbag off warning has happened on an irregular basis. When my girlfriend sits in the passenger seat (she weighs 110 lbs), the passenger airbags will turn off and we receive a warning and after a few seconds or minutes the warning disappears. This will happen sometimes up to 2 dozen times in an hour trip - other times we can go a few weeks with no warning and the passenger side airbag remaining on. We have taken it to the dealer numerous times and have been told the system is operating normally - even though in my owners manual tells me to take the vehicle to the dealer if the warning occurs and the person in the seat weighs more than 29kgs. The dealer says this problem is common with "small" people (note: when I sit in the seat at 165lbs - no warnings) and suggested that my girlfriend ride in the back seat. My concern is the side airbag will be off when needed and the randomess of the problem indicates a fault in the system - we have tried to determine if there is pattern to the warning such is she sitting in the center of the seat is she moving/not moving etc. With no help. Honda of America states that there is no problem as per corporate headquarters - I disagree and now I am down to seeking arbitration through the bbb where Honda will win based on my past experience with bbb.
The contact owns a 2012 Honda Civic. The contact stated the passenger side air bag erroneously deactivated while the seat was occupied. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure could not be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted about the failure. Updated 03/05/lj the dealer stated it was possible the passenger was sitting incorrectly. Updated 03/11/14.
Honda Civic 2012 has a defective passenger side airbag sensor system. My son who is 14 years old and 102 lbs sits in the passenger seat. When he makes any shifts like lean on one side or the other, the auto warns the airbag is off. We see this warning with big illumination. When the passenger centers himself on the seat, the warning goes away. The lean can be on any side. The slightest lean such that his left leg is not putting all the weight can trigger this. I have reported this to the dealer and he says this is by design. I have reported this to Honda motor company and they are logged a report. I have never seen this with Toyota, Lexus, Hyundai. Even with a younger kid it does not trigger airbag warning. So this is Honda Civic defect which can be catastrophic in accident situation where the passenger will be shifted by collision.
