The transmission blew, despite only having 90,000 miles.
Failed tramission.
My husband and I purchased a 2015 Honda Civic 3 years ago. We have maintained proper maintenance and have the documentation on this. At 118,000 ish miles, my [xxx] son was merging onto the interstate at night just a day or so after a snowstorm. As he was merging the car unexpectedly began to lose power. He tried to compensate by pushing the gas harder but realized her needed to pull over. The merge lane had construction cones and there was a bank of snow on the shoulder prohibiting him from getting over safely. He contacted the police he came out and he contacted a tow truck. He had to sit at the end of a merge lane for 45 minutes before a police officer could get there. We are fortunate he was not plowed by a semi or other vehicle. The car was towed to richmond car & truck center. After inspection, it was determined a new motor was needed. We paid to have that replaced only to be told after that it was still not operable. The transmission was out. The likely-hood of a motor and transmission going out was practically unheard of. The mechanic was even at a loss. I researched and found my son's make/model did have a recall on the transmission although, his was not part of that. We are thankful he is safe but I have never heard of a Honda losing a transmission/engine at 118,000 miles. We believe this is a transmission flaw. No warning light was ever illuminated and no issues of a problem ever existed until this incident. We have documentation. This has been reported to Honda but I have not received a response. I fear this may happen to someone else. What options do we have? information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
While driving on the freeway the latch from the hood came lose causing the hood to fly open and smashed the front windshield.
When can I take the car in to get checked and where. It is making a zooming noise, kind of like an airplane.
The transmission part that connects to the engine broke.
While I was driving on the highway I heard a rattling noise in the engine bay and every single light and system showed a malfunction on my dash. Then I was not able to accelerate and had to roll to a stop. This was extremely dangerous both for me and for the other vehicles on the highway because the speed limit was 55 mph and between not knowing why all of my system warning lights turned on I didn't even notice that I was not accelerating anymore for a few moments. The worst part was that the area in which I was driving had no shoulder and it was by a body of water. When I was relatively safe out of the way I called a tow truck to take me to a repair shop a block away from my residence in the event it was something minor. The first repair shop looked at it and stated it was an engine issue and I should take it to the dealer/repair shop we normally take it to. I then needed to get it towed again to the other shop and the problem was confirmed to be a catastrophic engine failure by the Honda dealer/repair shop which we always take our vehicle to for maintenance (literally got an oil change and filters replaced less than a month prior) and had to pay to get our engine replaced. The original engine is not available for inspection as we had to get it replaced. The vehicle was not inspected by the manufacturer because they stated there was no open recall on our vehicle even if there were other vehicles with the same year make and model with an open recall on an issue that could cause something like this.
Son driving vehicle. Vehicle suddenly loses power whire moving and not shifting gears.
After coming to a complete stop at a stop sign with the Honda civil, my husband (he) started to accelerate, but he could only go up to about 20 mph in a 55-mile zone. Next, the car made a bump noise when his foot was on gas pedal. The car went about 100 feet before it started to slow down on a busy highway. The car was not going the speed limit because it couldn't pick up speed. Multiple cars and trucks had to go around. Next, he had to pull over to the shoulder of the road because the car wouldn't pull no matter what gear it was placed in. The car stopped completely, and it had to be tolled home due to inability to move. Langdale Honda was called and asked about a possible recall on the transmission. They said that I would have to pay about $140 for an inspection for the problem.
For the second time in 6 months, my car has malfunctioned at a stop light. Both times, the vehicle was unresponsive when I tried to go from fully stopped at a red light. In both instances, the (red) oil light and the battery light came on at the same time/after (meaning they weren’t on before) and the brake locked up. Pressing the gas pedal did nothing. Turning the car off completely and restarting cleared the issue in both cases, but I’m worried that it could happen again. Today when it happened, a vehicle behind me behaved aggressively toward me (even though I put my hazard lights on when I realized the problem), and brake checked me once I was moving again. The first time it happened, I took my car to a Honda dealership and they weren’t able to find anything wrong with the car. There were no codes that gave them any info about the issue and they weren’t able to replicate it. At that time, they did recommend a transmission fluid exchange, which I got. The car drove somewhat better (it had been jerky before) after the service, but the improvement was temporary as the jerkiness has returned. While this problem has only presented itself at stoplights l’m terrified of what might happen on a highway or in a situation where the people around me are even more aggressive than the man I encountered today.
Transmission shuddering and then snapped coming to sudden stop.
The car just stopped moving. The engine still ran I just couldn’t move forward or reverse.
Failure of transmission control module description fits exact diagnosis in recall. Check transmission light on at 45,000 miles. Andy mohr wants money to inspect it. I an more than willing to if they will inspect it for free but it is not drivable. If they would come pick it up I would be happy to let them drive it all they want. The problem came with no warning on the highway. Car wouldn’t no longer switch to second gear. Purchased at andy mohr Honda in bloomington at 17,000 miles off lease from some someone who barely drove it. Certified preowned by Honda. Paid in full, feel ripped off. Yes, available for inspection on request no warning: transmission complete failure 2015 silver Honda Civic has been discussed with mechanics at curry Buick in. Bloomington as well as our winslow marathon which has great mechanics, they told me to contact you. The issue according to the nthsb is the “tcm” or transmission control module. Resulting in cars wheels locking up, or spinning out of control and not changing gears (this is what happened to me and repeated itself when I waited a week and tried driving around my neighborhood ) the issue is supposed to result in transmission and powertrain failure, making engine wanting to redline very easily. I’m lucky I didn’t burn my engine up. I didn’t purchase a car in 2018 at 17,000 miles and expect the transmission to fall out at 45,000 miles. That’s unacceptable and I was never notified, and andy mohr purports that my vehicle was either serviced or software changed resulting in no issue, however a transmission dying at 45,000 mi on a Honda Civic is not right and I suspect Honda notified the previous lessee and they did not service the car or had it improperly serviced. Otherwise I see no reason to have a car fall apart at 45,000 miles. I drive like grandma.
The car was operating fine until made a turn and the car stopped moving entirely, it would not accelerate, and the wheels would not turn. Shifting gears produced no results, and the car was completely stuck. The transmission cap on top of the cvt transmission was off, but had never been removed by me or another service provider. The safety of myself and others was put at risk because I was abruptly stopped by the issue in the middle of the road, unable to move, and received no prior warning that there were any issues with the vehicle. Multiple service centers have been unable to get the car moving again, and the issue persists. They are saying the transmission needs to be entirely replaced. It has been expected by both an independent auto shop and a transmission specialist. I received no warning of any issues with the car on the dashboard at any point.
Transmission went out at 150,000 miles.
The transmission failed; however, no code or warning appeared to indicate there was a problem. The only indication that there was an issue, we’re problems with acceleration. This was meant to be our newer reliable family vehicle for which we drive our two year old son in. Had the car broken down the wrong place and wrong time it could put our son and others in danger. Some sort of code should have appeared to indicate there was an issue before the transmission failed prematurely. The car had just a little over 100,000 miles when the transmission failed. The car was evaluated at a Honda service shop in annapolis MD (west street). They determine the transmission failed and needed to be replaced. I suspect that 2015 Honda Civics have transmission problems and defects. Although our VIN number is not associated with the 2014-2015 Honda Civic recalls, those recalls were transmission related issues. I don’t know that it is a coincidence, I suspect this year, make and model produced defective transmissions. The most concerning part is that no code nor check engine light appeared to warn us of the transmission issue. The car is currently in an transmission auto shop (glen burnie, MD) waiting for a used transmission to be installed. It may take two to three weeks for the repairs.
The vehicle loses acceleration while driving slows it down making it dangerous on roads for crash and when it shifts gears it jerks the car.
The transmission fill plug comes out and the transmission fluid then gets all over under the hood. This is the second time this has happened as the first time I brought it to the Honda dealership, they said its nothing to worry about and happens as they put a new cap in and cleaned it up. This can not be ok as it has only been about a year an only 15,000 to 20,000 sence the first occurrence. I can feal a difference when operating the vehicle as it shifts weird and drags the car excessively, there is no warning. My loved ones operate this vehicle and I do not want to see any accidents happen as I have heard of them happening to the same year, make, and model 2015 Honda Civic ex. I would love for an inspection.
Abs brake system failure and unable to steer vehichle causing accident. Front passenger side airbag did not deploy for front passenger. If the passenger did not move his head when he did and driver they both likely would have been killed in the accident. When this vehichle was purchased at the carmax dealership less than 60 days ago, it was assured of no issues, however it did have low tire pressure warnings and they put air in tires at the time of test drive, I have read some people have had low tire warning / abs issues prior to abs failures and wish this to be investigated. This is suspicious.
On March 21, 2022, I was driving at a slow speed and the car attempted to cut off. I was trying to accelerate and the car decreased speed and was trying to stop. (stalling) . The car did not completely shut off. The car was hooked up to machines and cassat (duval Honda) could not find anything wrong with the car and can't duplicate the issue. They overcharging because they require a $70. 00 diagnostic fee whereas I have now discovered that coggin Honda is doing the ethical thing and not charging a diagnostic fee. Please note stalling is a safety issue and puts consumers in harms way. This could potentially cause accidents.
My transmission plug. Just popped off. I noticed a shaking vibration at high speed and finally checked the engine and found the transmission plug had popped off. I put it back in but read that many 2015 Civics have had this happen. It needs to be addressed now! this should not happen and could cause serious problems!.
Paint is flaking off from roof by back window for no reason. No rust. Appears defect when paint was applied to vehicle.
The car's paint is coming off almost everyday. I didn't do anything wrong, but it is coming off.
The cvt belt broke on my 2015 Honda Civic. I see on that there was a recall for other 2015 Honda Civics with the same issue. There are countless forums online with other people like me who have 2015 Civics that were not covered under the cvt recall. It’s my understanding that there have been at least 40 other complaints from the thousands of other Civic owners like myself who were not covered yet experiencing the same issue. Hopefully my report is enough to tip the scales. I am now being quoted $7,200 to fix a problem that has been shown to be unsafe in other Civics of the same year. Thank you.
Transmission keeps popping out my fill plug and transmission fluid squirts out I’ve read online that these transmissions eventually mess themselves up.
The ac compressor broke and needed replaced. This is on a car with 69785 miles that is only 6 years old. This is defective and it seems to be a common issue. I think that this should be subject to a recall.
The paint is peeling off the car at the back window.
Today I went under the hood because my car broke down in the middle of an intersection on the way to the Honda dealership as my car was acting strange. It wasnt accelerating as normal and didnt feel like it was switching gears. Under the hood I discovered the transmission fluid fill cap was completely missing. Ive read online others have had this issue and it was advised to file this report.
Re. 2015 Honda Civic-ex (VIN #: 19xfb2f85fe251724) dear sir, our referenced car has had numerous defects and deficiencies and is currently inoperable. While we've had to repair the car on numerous occasions within the past couple of years, what has occurred within the past 6 months has been nothing short of a nightmare experience; starting in February and continuing to the present day. There is something structurally wrong with the Honda Civic as there appears to be oem systems and components related defects and malfunctions that are unusual, anomalous and totally abnormal. In one instance, the car became very erratic and was shaking and aerodynamically unstable and it almost lost control, as the steering column became very rigid/stiff and was not able to initially rotate/torque the steering wheel to negotiate certain corner turns. Numerous dashboard lights flashed simultaneously including, but not limited to, check engine sign, vsa, tpms, hsas, power steering malfunction, exclamation sign, etc. We've replaced the alternator ii) replaced the battery five times; and iii) conducted the requisite alignment adjustments and tire pressure and rotation applications and other related repairs, etc. None of the above repairs fixed the root causes of the problem. We're not able to open the car doors at the present time as the vehicle is not in an operational mode. This car is potentially a "lemon" and frankly whatever turns-out to be the root cause of the problem(s), this model vehicle should be a candidate for a recall. Please do the right thing and take the necessary corrective actions to have Honda satisfactorily resolve this matter ASAP and we request NHTSA to report this incident so that it doesn't happen to another driver as this is a safety issue. Thank you for your prompt and professional cooperation. Sincerely, john daiza.
At around 130k miles, air bag light comes on. Goes on and off sporadically. Been doing this over 2 months. Happens anytime from when starting the car, to driving, stationary, turning, anywhere.
I was driving on a 3 lane highway and had slowed down with hazards on when I was rear ended moving about 7 mph. I suffered severe injuries including a grand mal seizure and 2 brain bleeds because I bounced my head off the steering wheel as well as my passenger hitting her head on the dash and causing her to blackout because the car airbags did not go off when we got hit by someone driving 65 mph. The car had been hit so hard it got hit into a bush causing frontal damage to and severe rear driver damage.
I was driving down the road and then heard a loud boom sound. No other vehicles were anywhere around me. When I got home I noticed my sunroof had exploded. I have cleaned up glass. Now I'm gonna have to wait until I can afford to replace it. Not sure why it exploded, but I am vulnerable to car theft now. This is not right. I don't feel my car is secure without the glass on my roof. Should be a way to get manufacturers to help. Also, I am lucky to have had the window fully open.
Transmissions light did not go on to alert now is not moving.
My 2015 Honda Civic has paint peeling off in sheets. The possible safety issue isn't my car but other cars around me when driving. If a sheet of paint peels off and lands on a driver's windshield causing them not to be able to see that's a huge safety issue. Honda refuses to own up to the paint defect and isn't willing to thoroughly correct the problem.
The welds and the frame on the subwoofer has started to fail as shown in the picture that I attached. . .
