1 Body problem

Failure Date: 10/22/2025

Immediately after closing the trunk, the trunk lid torsion bar snapped. The trunk lid will no longer stay up and is very heavy to open. If this had happened when the trunk was open, it could have broken my neck. Honda is aware of this issue in vehicles from 2016-2020. There is a technical service bulletin (22-013) but no recall. I feel this is a physical safety hazard to anyone who owns these cars.

My 2019 Honda Civic is experiencing paint chipping on the mirrors and door handles. I've noticed others reporting similar problems. The paint is literally bubbling off. When I contacted Honda of America, they acknowledged that it's atypical and indicative of a product defect, but stated they couldn't assist as it's out of warranty and no recalls have been issued at this time. It’s crazy to me a car that spends the majority of the time in a garage has this type of issue. Keep in mind that I live in southern California where we don’t experience much in the realm of harsh weather.

My trunk opens on it’s own while riding down the road! every day several times a day I have to pull over and close my trunk because it opens on its own! it’s very dangerous as I have had things fly out of my truck bc of this! I just bought the car in October 2022! there are a lot of other complaints online when I looked up why does my trunk keep opening on my 2019 Civic! from my understanding it is the 2019-2020 Honda Civics! it happens every day!.

4 Body problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2023

On 01/15/2023 my son was driving on a highway in our 2019 Honda Civic lx when he heard a scary grinding sound under the car. He was forced to stop on the side of the highway only to discover that the splash shield at the bottom of the car was almost disconnected from the car itself. Upon closer inspection at home, we discovered that splash shield is only held in place by 3 fasteners instead of 8 that is needed. Quick internet search shows numerous cases when the splash shield is not installed correctly after the oil change causing it to disconnect eventually. The oil change on the was performed on 08/01/2022 at Honda city dealership. No one touched the bottom of the car afterwards. We contacted the dealership and on 01/16 I had a conversation with a manager who advised to visit it. On 01/17 my son went there and was told that it disconnected for unknown reasons and dealership is not responsible. The dealership manager stated, engine splash cover disconnected by “natural causes”. An unexpected loud grinding noise while driving on a highway almost caused an accident (he almost lost control of the car). If it is a design issue (as stated there are numerous cases of engine splash guard disconnecting documented online) I believe Honda must issue a recall to replace it / address the issue.

5 Body problem

Failure Date: 10/03/2022

This year, the paint on both side view mirrors and door handles started chipping away. The vehicle is a 2019, so it is less than 4 years old. There is no reason that the paint in those specific areas should be chipping away already except for a factory defect.

6 Body problem

Failure Date: 09/06/2022

The paint on my 2019 Civic coupe began to completely flake off inside the fuel door jam. The primer is completely exposed. There was no scratching or dent or any kind of impact that could have brought on the paint damage since the area is tucked away. I brought my car to the dealership today and they took pictures to document the occurrence and are escalating my concerns. Hopefully this will be covered under Honda's extended paint warranty (which I've read only affects certain models and years).

7 Body problem

Failure Date: 06/30/2022

I purchased my car in December 2018. My car is a 2019 Honda Civic si coupe I didn’t have any problems with my car other than two big dents on the top next to my sunroof. I notified the dealership in the beginning of summer of 2022 and they looked at it and told me that that was caused by me going too fast on a corner he literally told me with a straight face and I was very mad so I took it to a body shop explain to him and showed him what the problem was. He then told me that he had another car come in for the same problem and I’m wondering if anybody else is having the same problem. The body shop owner told me that that was caused by some weak points on the structure from the sunroof and to repair it. They would have to take some of the interior out and straighten it out from the inside if anyone else is having this problem, please let me know.

8 Body problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2020

Small dings on the rear part of the car, window specifically behind the rear windows, on the rear pillar on both sides.

9 Body problem

Failure Date: 02/28/2020

I was driving 70 on the free way in the far left lane and my tire blew and I ended up hitting the rail all the way on the right lane.

10 Body problem

Failure Date: 09/13/2019

September 13 2019 - front spoiler under the bumper partially detached while driving on I-65 at ~70 mph. This happened suddenly and violently and nearly resulted in an accident when it happened due to the spoiler immediately dragging the payment (I. E. Impacting control of the car coupled with startling the driver). No previous collision or trauma had impacted the spoiler prior to this incident (e. G. It had not hit a parking curb). A passenger corroborated the facts detailed by the driver. Spoiler was replaced by the dealership (Honda world in louisville, ky) a few days later. June 6 2020 - the exact same incident occurred while driving on I-64 at ~70 mph, which also nearly caused an accident. Similar to the 9/13/19 incident, there had been no collision or trauma impacting the spoiler prior this second incident. This time, there were two eye witnesses (mother & father of the driver) in the car directly in front of the Civic, as well as 2 passengers, all of which corroborated these facts. We tied the partially detached spoiler to the bumper so that it remained drivable home. June 8, 2020 - brought the car to the dealership again and informed them of this second incident, that occurred exactly the same as the first back in September without any previous trauma occurring to the part that partially detached. Instead of listening they were immediately confrontational, saying there had to have been a collision (I. E. They didn't believe us). They told us to call insurance and that there was nothing they could do. Further, they mentioned that when we called the 1-800 Honda customer care #, that Honda would call them back and they would say there had to have been a collision (I. E. They would tell Honda that we were lying). Please advise on who we should contact about this potential cover up of a serious safety issue. We are concerned other Honda Civic owners may be in danger.
