The infotainment and connectivity system in this 2021 Honda Civic ex suffers from critical, persistent hardware and software defects regarding android auto. The system continuously and unpredictably disconnects during active operation when wired, and fails to establish or maintain any reliable wireless connection. Due to a personal medical condition (topographical agnosia), I am entirely directionless and completely dependent on real-time turn-by-turn navigation to travel safely. When the infotainment system abruptly cuts out, maps vanish, forcing an immediate, dangerous choice between driving blindly or dangerously diverting visual attention down to a handheld mobile device while navigating traffic. This recurring equipment failure creates a severe, unacceptable safety hazard and driver distraction risk on public roadways. This was undisclosed to me at time of purchase, and actively prohibits me from safely driving the vehicle. Additionally, I am unable to connect wirelessly, which was also undisclosed. This is appears to be a known issue with the model according to internet forms, but was never actively recalled by Honda. The dealership has not been responsive in my request to reprocess a deal on a model that does not have this safety defect.
Spontaneous rear window shattering while parked. Problem not confirmed or reproduced insurance claim filed for repair no warning lamps, messages or symptoms of impending problem.
Steering wheel seems to "stick" when positioned in the center and "unsticking" it requires extra effort causing the wheel to jerk free and making you overcorrect for what would be a minor lane adjustment. It causes you to zig zag back and forth in your lane as you try to correct each time the steering wheel stick. It has happened to me multiple times on multi hour drives on the highway and persists until the end of the drive. The vehicle has not been inspected yet by any professionals and the first signs of the sticking issue appeared several weeks ago beginning this winter.
I have been calling my local dealership for over a year trying to get my car fixed due to the recall and the dealership keeps saying they do not have the parts and will call when they do.
A/c system completely failed. During a diagnostic they found three components with refrigerant leaks. 1) compressor shaft seal 2) a/c condenser 3) evaporator core a certified Honda service center completed the diagnostic. The issue first appeared in late 2025. During the winter I rarely use air conditioning but now in spring/summer it does not cool at all. Honda knows there is an issue with the air conditioning system on this generation of Honda Civic, they cover the compressor shaft seal but not the other components, on an extended warranty. My main issue is that Honda covers replacement of the a/c condenser for 2016-2020 Honda Civics, the last year of the generation is 2021 and it is not on the extended warranty bulletin. 2021 cars should be covered, it is the same exact generation. Not only that, the evaporator core and any other air conditioning component should be cover as well. This is not normal wear and tear, my vehicle only has 40,000 miles.

There’s been a safety recall and I took my car like more than a year ago to repairs and then the check the car but told me the piece it’s not ready yet. I have to wait almost a whole year for it and I receive the notification that the piece was ready. When I call to make the appointment the lady told me that I receive the notification but the piece it’s not on the Honda yet and I have to wait. Wait more ? I’m seriously concerned about my car and even though I receive the notification that it’s ready she says they haven’t receive the piece yet ? this is a serious matter and my car and even my family we are driving the car and this is absolutely not ok. I don’t know how much more do I have to wait.
While driving, the sunroof exploded, sounding like an explosion inside the car. The glass shattered while the inside cover was closed. Therefore, the cover contained the shattered glass. There was no traffic around, therefore no debris was thrown into the vehicle. There was no warning that this was going to occur. The suddenness and loudness is certainly enough to startle the driver enough to cause an accident. The vehicle has yet to be inspected and/or repaired.
The infotainment system in these vehicles is poor when using the navigation. Having the phone connected via wire will cause the phone and infotainment system to malfunction constantly causing restarts and making the mobile device extremely hot too the touch. The android auto function in the car loses connection and begins to cause the arrow marker to jump around on the map causing confusion, turn directions down wrong roads causing drivers to enter areas of no thruway due to a business being there. Researched this for 2 years and there is no current fix from Honda other owners through reddit have the same issue and have been told by Honda that nothing can be done to fix the hardware system.
Sunroof spontaneously shattered while driving on the highway. If the sunroof visor was open the occupants would have been sprayed with glass. It has the potential to cause injuries or an accident given the right circumstances.
I’ve had multiply times where my dash with start indicating I need to break while I’m driving an will break for me while on the freeway or street with traffic. For the lane departure my car will just start turning out of a lane there was two incidents where I almost hit the wall divider on the freeway from my car almost turning me into it.
2125 miles on this type r, fresh off the show room floor. At low speed turning into the slight dip in my driveway, the suspension in sports mode flexed enough for the driver side tin rotor back plate at the driver front wheel to get caught on the lower control arm. Drove it to Honda, and yes, they confirmed that this had happened, that the thin tin plate had indeed become stuck on the lca! screeching like you cannot believe b/c when this happens, the top of the plate is flexed onto the top of the brake rotor and it goes metal to metal. Honda told me they have no idea how this happened but myself, a professional mechanic can clearly see exactly what happened. Honda tried to bill me for this warranty repair to the tune of $475. I told them "no!" they backed down. Yes, this vehicle is available for inspection any time you want. And yes, I can make the problem happen again just by hitting the dip while making a left-hand turn into my driveway.
My car has multiple electric problems and it has been trying to die on me since I bought the car and they dealership doesn’t want to look at it unless I mention apple carplay.
