1 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2026

I originally notified my dealer of concerns with my vehicles behavior while using cruise control and they verified that the systems were 'calibrated and working properly'. On a regular basis, my car will automatically and erroneously engage the vehicles brakes while driving, especially while using the automatic cruise control function. This behavior is far worse at night but has happened to me during the day as well and under all weather conditions. Typically, the gauge cluster will show a motorcycle or car being 'detected' on the screen before or at the same time this happens even though there typically is nothing there. Additionally, this may or may not be related. The entire driver assist system and cruise control are constantly failing to function and often show as 'unavailable' - the cruise control, lane keep, and auto stop features will stop working at random while in use constantly; seemingly heavily influenced by even that slightest adverse conditions - driving in the cold? 'system unavailable'. A rain drop hit the windshield? 'system unavailable'. Road is wet? system unavailable'. While I am able to stay alert and correct these issues as they are constantly arising, they should not be available for use on public roads as they at random cause the vehicle to operate in an unpredictable manner and create a significant hazard for other drivers on the road who may not be paying attention - it's not if someone will collide with the back of the vehicle but rather when and how severe - this vehicle should not be hitting the brakes when there is nothing to stop for and a system like cruise control should not constantly and randomly stop working while in use.

2 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 12/09/2025

My Honda will randomly beep and slam the brakes but there is nothing in front of me, it has done this multiple times and getting to the point I’m scared it will cause an accident. When it happened the first time I thought maybe it was because it was slightly raining, but it will do it regardless of the weather conditions. It has happened probably 5+ times, and it’s starting to become more frequent.

3 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 03/02/2025

Was traveling ~60mph on a 3 lane section of interstate highway when vehicle in front of me abrutly decreased speed. I braked until my vehicles matched that speed. As I raised my foot from the brake pedal (I had matched the speed of the vehicle in front of me and had an acceptable amount of seperation given the flow of traffic), the brake pedal fell away from my and to the floor and I felt abs engage. This nearly resulted in my vehicle being rear ended by the car following me. I have driven with the emergency braking system active since the incident (as it is by default after every vehicle power cycle) and have not encountered this behavior again. This had not previously occured in the ~20,000 miles of usage prior to the incident. Since no damage occured during the incident, the vehicle has not been inspected by anyone besides myself.

4 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 01/21/2025

Hello. My 2024 Civic sport had an automatic brake system that failed to operate correctly. As a result of being blinded by the sun that brake system could have potentially prevented the accident in question. Instead, the system did not deploy and the car ended up totaled with both air bags deployed after just a 20 mph fender bender. If the intended systems worked as they were designed, the accident wouldn’t have happened in the first place.

5 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 06/26/2024

Failure in all advanced driver systems at 7500 miles.

6 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 06/17/2024

Braking system warnings and possibility of brake failure warning. Dealership thought it was sensor issue and replaced sensors but it happened again and I’m also experiencing a phenomenon referred to as “phantom braking” as my car will stop as if an object is directly in front of me while I’m driving, which has happened a few times on the interstate now and I’m afraid to drive. This is a serious safety risk for all involved.

7 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 05/24/2024

Car automatically stopped abruptly when a car in oncoming traffic turned a safe distance ahead of me. I was in the process of slowing down and was in no danger of being too close to the car in front of me. Nearly got rear ended.

8 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 04/13/2024

We were driving to northern minnesota on the freeway. There were no vehicles in front of mine in either lane. The automatic braking system engaged and the vehicle almost came to a stop on the freeway before it disengaged. Approximately 1 hour later it happened again. If there had been a vehicle behind us in either instance there would have been a serious problem. Today pulling into the garage the same thing happened as I was halfway to parking. I am going to disable the feature.

9 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 03/29/2024

Vehicle 1 (complaint vehicle) was traveling on interstate highway in moderate traffic in right lane while traveling around a slight curve traveling at 60 mph. Vehicle 2 traveling in left lane merged to right lane with approximately 2 car lanes of spacing in from of vehicle 1 (complaint vehicle). I lifted off accelerate in vehicle 1 (complaint vehicle) to slow down and Honda sensing collison mitigation braking system abruptly apply very hard braking resulting in vehicle 1(complaint vehicle) nosing driving and straightened the steering on the curve. The braking and steering straightening resulted in vehicle 1 (complaint vehicle) crossing the lane line into the left lane by approximately 2 feet before the vehicle could be recovered and a speed reduction by 15-20 mph. No vehicles were in left lane next to vehicle 1 (complaint vehicle) at the time of incident or behind vehicle 1 (complaint vehicle) to have resulted in a collusion. If vehicles were either behind or in the lane at the time of the incident the Honda sensing collison mitigation braking system actions would have directly resulted in a collision from its intervention. Contacted Honda and reported incident and inquired how to disable the system permanently and was told the Honda representative that they would pass along the information to "engineering" and the system can only be disabled for each drive and would turn on each time the ignition cycled. I then inquired if anybody would be reaching out to correct the issue and was informed that nobody would reaching out to me about the issue. I expressed the safety issues and was informed other than notifying engineering nothing would be addressed for me.
