Five problems related to air bag have been reported for the 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
After the recall appointment on 5/3/2019,the sign "abs" still comes on all the time in the panel. Besides,the auto audio system fails when the ignition is on. When the car is not on the audio system comes on again. This may be checked besides the abs sign.
I was involved in a nearly head on crash in which the airbags deployed. Both of my hands were on the steering wheel at the time. As the airbags inflated, I was burned on my right forearm. I was wearing a fleece jacket and a sweatshirt. They were burned through and I sustained a significant burn on my arm which required medical attention.
The contact owns a 2003 Honda civic. The contact received a notice for recall NHTSA campaign id number: 14v351000 (air bags) and NHTSA campaign id number: 14v353000 (air bags). The contact stated that the parts needed to perform the repair on the passenger side were unavailable. The manufacturer was not notified. The contact had not experience the failure.
Front and side impact to car, totaling car, without side or front airbag deployment. Impact was great enough that airbags should have deployed. Car was last serviced by a certified Honda service provider for defective seatbelt and routine maintenance in may 2013.
Srs light stays on, Honda service department claims the air bag computer is bad and needs to be replaced, $700 + and it is not covered by any warranty. The car is a 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid that has never been in any accident. I have replaced the hybrid battery (at 95,000 miles), and the car now has about 120,000 miles on it.
