The contact owns a 2008 Honda Civic Hybrid. The contact stated that while parked, the rear window exploded without warning. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 122,000.
I've noticed several complaints about broken sun visors. My 08 Civic Hybrid got a crack in the driver side visor. Prior to that, it was always very hard to swing the visor to the side or to clip it back in. Maybe something was too tight, and that's why it eventually cracked. My dealership replaced it because the car was still under warranty. However, if it had happened a couple months later they wouldn't have. Sounds like there's a defect in the visors and Honda needs to replace them even if the car is out of warranty.
My sun visor cracked at the hinge over a year ago and since that time it would repeatedly fall in my face blocking my line of sight. Many times it even hit me in the head. Honda wouldn't pay to replace or fix it. I finally removed it since it obstructed my view of the road so now I have the sun in my eyes. I am not apt to buy the same part again as I've seen hundreds of postings online about Honda civic owners who have experienced the same problem. There needs to be a recall of this visor and Honda needs to replace these parts in all civics with functionable parts.
