Three of tpms sensors were replaced in 2015 for malfunctioning by Honda service. Two tpms sensors malfunctioning in 2017 according to Honda service inspection. One tpms seal was replaced in 2017 by the Honda service. Low tire pressure warning regularly coming up, once per month in average, sometimes two or three times a month.
2008 Honda civic has excessive, dangerous rear tire wear. No heavy towing or anything crazy, and the inner edge of the tires (about 3" inward) wears completely off by 15,000-20,000 miles, well short of the front tires, our rear outer edge of the tire. Very dangerous, expensive, makes noise and affects braking. Honda has a TSB, but won't acknowledge it as a manufacturing defect requiring a recall.
9/25/15 purchased brand new; already had 5 episodes of alert problem in tire pressure: 10/29/15 (2,835 miles) alert of tire pressure while driving at freeway & brought to dealer on same day:11/20/15, the lights went on again while driving at freeway: brought car to dealer on 11/21/15 4,536 miles- alert of tire pressure and brought to dealer; 12/28/15 (6,816)--made an oil change in same dealer and on 1/4/16 the alert signal was on again while driving on freeway and went back to dealer on 1/5--they didn't create a work order but checked the car and was advised and was shown by service advisor how to manually reset the alert so it goes away; called 1800-9991009 on 1/13/2016 @8:03 am and spoke with nikki and was advised to bring car back to dealer if lights go on again; on 2/29 the lights went on again while I was on freeway and thinking it was the same problem, I ignored it and went on driving until a passenger of a motorist signaled to me that there is something wrong with my tire--it was a flat tire. I exited freeway and parked in a safe area & called for roadside assist. On 3/1 (10888)car brought to dealer for a new tire. On 3/4/16 while driving on freeway, the light was back again and brought care to the dealer on 3/5 (111509). Dealer recalibrated the sensors. On several occasions, I was told by various service advisors that the tire pressure should be exactly the same, not more, not less. I got a gauge to check it and in 3 out of the 5 events, my gauge showed the correct pressure and had other people validate it.
Honda had a class action settlement for replacement of upper control arm kit extended warranty due to rear wheel excessive tire wear, however I was not informed of issue and therefore have missed the deadline for warranty. After contacting american Honda, placing a claim for goodwill assistance and after reviewing they provided they could not do anything for me and that I could re-submit claim only after I had Honda dealer perform diagnostics which they charge $75 fee with no guarantee that they would recover this cost or provide any assistance for repair of issue. I know this is the issue as I have all original Honda oem parts, have noticed excessive inner tire wear on the right rear tire and had pep boys perform inspection alerting me to the Honda replacement kit. In my research I have also found statement that this condition can cause issues with steering and safety. With Honda repair prices much higher than other independent repair shops, there is no reason to pay Honda diagnostics charge simply to confirm what already established knowledge is. End result is that Honda has corrected a flawed design yet is not willing to make right with providing repair for newly designed replacement kit, which makes me a very un-satisfied customer of their products.
I bought a 2004 Honda Civic Hybrid from efficiency motor cars on 5 may 2013, paying $4600 up front and the final $200 less than a month later. The car has had problems (starting problems, battery replaced twice, wrong wheel size when bought, broken wheel stud, short in the electrical system that's been hard to find and finally the cars wheel rolled off the car when I was leaving arrest area) since I bought it. There hasn't been a straight month where the car has been reliable I ran into problems this week when attempting to get the car insured. Every insurance company that I applied to will not insure my car because of a salvage/rebuilt title of which I was previously unaware. I have not received the title, though I have asked efficiency motor cars for it several times. After becoming frustrated with efficiency motor cars, I made an attempt at getting the car’s title myself from the department of driver services. When inquiring about my car’s title I discovered the title was being held by the dds because efficiency motor cars had reported the wrong odometer reading. The former reading being 159,xxx from the previous title holder and 148, 074 when sold to me. (maybe a fraudulent roll back?) this is also how I discovered the car had previously been salvaged, which was not disclosed to me. So, when I finally get my title, the title will be salvage/rebuilt.
Because of manufacturer error - the upper control arms are making the tires wear out fast and unever. Rear tires have toe - out appearance. There was a class action suit that expired in February. Elderly couple who bought car new, did not know that there was an issue - I was told by Honda that the free repair from the class action suit was no longer available. My car kas 82ooo miles on it and it should be fixed for free, because the probably started at the factory.
This safety complaint is not about the vehicle, it is about the goodyear tires I installed. I have goodyear assurance tires for summer driving and use the oem tires for winter driving. I was driving home yesterday and the left rear tire suddenly went down and the tpms warning light came on. Upon inspection I found the left rear tire almost completely out of air pressure. I carefully drove the car back to my business and parked it. We removed the rear tire the next morning and the inside side wall had several separations causing the tire to deflate. We inspected the remaining tires and they all were separating on the inside side wall as well. The front side wall on all of the tires is full of tiny cracks like you would see on a very old/aged tire. These tires are less than two driving seasons old and have very little mileage on them. What concerns me the most is that all four tires are failing the same exact way. I am so lucky this did not occur the day before in heavy traffic at higher speeds. I contacted my local dealer and he would only offer a partial credit for another set of goodyear tires if I could provide the sale receipt. I kept asking what about the safety concerns with no reply given. I contacted goodyear customer support and they were only willing to give me partial credit towards another set of goodyear tires or dunlop tires. I asked them about safety and all of the similar reports on the internet and the customer rep (tom) said any information gained by searching the internet was irrelevant. I was told it may be a warranty issue. I began wondering how many people are driving a car around with tires that are defective and could fail at any time, or for that matter have failed and have caused injury and/or death. Please take the time to research this, what if one of your family members is driving a car with these tires???.
About June 2013 my tires starting losing air pressure slowly, about 5 to 10 psi a week, causing the tpms to show and alert. I wasn't sure what was going on. I took the car for service 06/22/13 and had the dealer look at the tire at that time in case it was a nail. They found nothing, but said it was corrosion on the rim. Afterwards the leaking continued, so on a hunch I sprayed the tpms valves with soap on July 20 and saw they were all leaking air from the threaded cap stem where it screws into the metal valve on the wheel. I looked on the internet and found out this is a common problem on Hondas and with a number of other manufacturers also. The system that is supposed to show leaks, leaks itself !.
The rear axle has been making a loud humming noise at speeds of (50-55 mph). Tires are very badly cupped in the rear, despite being relatively new. Cupped tires cause a dangerous situation when driving. The car seems unstable on tight turns, as well as high speeds. Tire cupping happened despite having new tires and a wheel alignment done when they were put in. This is a problem of every Honda civic 06-08 owner I have encountered, and there is plenty of evidence on online forums to confirm this information. Honda needs to issue a recall on the rear camber arms of the civic 07, as they cause dangerous premature tire wear that may cause, or in the least contribute to, injury or death.
Three of the four wheels on the car have corrosion around the base of the tire pressure monitor system sensors that allows air to leak from the tire. The worst of the leaks I'm experiencing currently allows a loss of about 7 psi per week and is slowly getting worse over time. A Honda regional service rep had suggested that adding air may be allowing moisture into the tire/wheel assembly contributing to the internal corrosion, which doesn't seem to have been a problem on any other car I've ever owned.
2007 Honda hybrid, purchased new on 05/26/2007 at ed morse Honda in riviera beach florida. Listing of auto problems dealer made aware of since purchase: /27/2007 left front window regulator failed: under warranty/replaced /01/2009 ima (hybrid battery) indicator begins to drop to on bar, acceleration feels rough. Inspected but found no problems, yet auto still had same problems until it failed. /10/2010 ima(hybrid battery) and engine light on, battery drops to no indication bars. Dealer reprogrammed internal software, under warranty /27/2010 left front window fell in, unable to operate, out of use until repaired (had to replace window and regulator, but window not broken, dealer insisted had to replace both). Charge $431. 68, dealer states no longer under warranty, yet same window had failed on 12/27/2007. /26/2010 ima (hybrid battery) software updated again, had been done 07/10/2010. Still under warranty. /09/2010 ima failed (hybrid battery) and engine light on. Dealer replaced ima battery, under warranty. First reported concern to dealer 05/01/2009. Two updates to software attempts unsuccessful. Recall documented by Honda. //18/2010 left front wheel bearing failure. Charged $48. 69 to diagnose. Dealer asking about $400. 00 to repair. Unable to afford dealer cost, repaired elsewhere. Have learned there may be a recall on same issue NHTSA #: 07v399000. /15/2011 gas cap door lever failed. Unable to open gas cap door to pump gas. Mechanism broke that has cable traveling from driver’s seat to gas cap door. Had to dismantle component from within the trunk to open. I was at a gas station when this happened at night. Dealer is not open at this time. Very concerned with car's multiple function failures. Non of which have been caused by driver. As can be noted, the items that have failed could all lead to emergency situations. Have all receipts to verify the above. Need help. Please.
1) since I bought the car in 2005 (new), periodically the anti-lock brake system kicks in for no apparent reason (while I am braking, of course). 2) under the above situation, as well as at other times when the antilock brakes kick in, I cannot get the abs to disengage no matter what I do, until the car has reached a complete stop. 3) intermittently, the antilock brake system, when it kicks in, the car will take an exceedingly long, very very exceedingly long time to stop. Very exceeding long. At almost all these times, I was already going very slowly toward a stop sign, stoplight or approaching an intersection to turn. It seems that the wheels lock up and the car just slides. As a result of #3, I have run innumerable stop signs, a few stop lights, the other night I almost hit a car head on, missed the turnoff to my street by almost 200 feet, missed my driveway by about 100 feet. This was on snowy, wet slushy roads. But, I will tell you when approaching the intersections and turns, I could not have been going slower without being at almost a dead standstill. It is very fortunate that in each case there was no accident. But, the dealership tells me that is the way the abs system works, there is nothing wrong with it and nevertheless they cannot reproduce the problem. Has anyone else reported this problem? I have contacted Honda corporation, checked for bulletins, etc. And I find nothing. I do not believe antilock brakes are supposed to work like this.
Having the abnormal tire wear issue that several have experienced with this car. Have a weekday commute of about 40 miles roundtrip, and average about 17,000 miles a year that I put on the car. Have had 10 tires replaced on the car since it was purchased new in summer of 2007, and am in desperate need, from a safety stand point, to replace all four of my tires at this time (summer 2011). That will make 14 new tires that have been on this car in the four years since this car was purchased brand new. When getting my oil changed (at firestone) in 2009, the fs manager mentioned that there was an issue with my car and the tire wear and that I should take it to the Honda dealership. Took my car in, while it was still under warranty in 2009, and was told no such problem existed. Several months later, I learned about the service bulletin, issued by Honda, regarding this problem. I took my car in to Honda in summer of 2010 and they supposedly fixed it. I am still having abnormal wear on my tires. This abnormal wear issue can lead to catastrophic tire blowout. The vehicle is unfit and unsafe to drive at this point. Honda has not been helpful at all in dealing with this issue. When I took the car in in 2009, while it was still under warranty, Honda refused to acknowledge the problem. When I took the car back in 2010, they acknowledged the bulletin but said my car was now out of warranty. They refused to honor their warranty and made me pay for the "fix". The fix was nonexistent and now I'm left with a car that I am terrified to drive for fear of a tire blowing out and me crashing, at a high speed, into a concrete barrier or another car.
My 2007 Honda Civic Hybrid has uneven and irregular wear on the tires due to an extension arm problem in the rear. Honda issues a recall "fix" which did not fix the problem. The problem causes cupping which creates an extremely noisy, unstable ride. I have had to have my tires replaced four times. Honda has said they are aware of the problem and understand my "concern" but they will no longer replace my tires. I think it is unacceptable that I would have pay for rear tires more than twice a year because of their engineering problem. I noticed the problem about a month after purchasing the vehicle and it has been a constant battle! the car becomes really unstable and in minnesota winters, it handles terrible in winter conditions. I have slid in the ditch when others were traveling much faster than myself based on the road conditions. This is a nuisance and safety issue.
