Front Seat Recliner problems of the 1997 Honda CR-V

Five problems related to front seat recliner have been reported for the 1997 Honda CR-V. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Front Seat Recliner problem

Failure Date: 05/14/1999

Consumer was stopped when a vehicle from the rear crashed into the vehicle, airbag deployed violently, it pushed the driver back with force, causing seat back to collapse, resulting in mulitple injuries.

2 Front Seat Recliner problem

Failure Date: 05/14/1999

Vehicle was completlely stopped, and another vehicle rearended consumer. Upon impact air bag did not deploy, and the seatback broke. Vehicle was totalled.

3 Front Seat Recliner problem

Failure Date: 03/17/1998

Seat back collapsed twice.

4 Front Seat Recliner problem

Failure Date: 11/10/1997

Consumer was driving at approx 25 mph was rearended by another vehicle which was driving at approx 55mph. Driver's seat broke , fell back on top of daughter which was sitting behind her. This defect could result in injuries.

5 Front Seat Recliner problem

The seat belt, when seat is in the foward position, becomes tangled in the seatback release which is located on the floor, causing the seat to release into a reclined position while driving. Dealer has been contacted.
