1 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem

Failure Date: 07/04/2020

Honda issued a recall in March 2020 for repair of a airbag inflator. This recall stated that it was dangerous to drive my car and that the problem with the airbag could result in fatality to me or my passengers. It is now July 4, 2020 and there are still not parts available to fix the problem so I cannot make an appointment to have it fixed. I called Honda customer service on June 29, 2020 and was told that I would need to just wait. It says on the Honda website that a rental car will be provided if parts are temporarily not available to fix a problem but they refused to do that. I think it is unacceptable that it has been 4 months since a problem was recognized, no parts are available to fix the problem, and Honda will not provide a rental car even though they state that using my car could result in death.

2 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem

Failure Date: 03/09/2020

I received a recall notice in the mail from Honda in February of 2020. The recall notice states that my 2001 Honda crv is unsafe to drive. I have been in contact with Honda since March 9, 2020 and they have not offered a solution, updates, or information concerning this. I have been told by two employees that the part to fix this issue is not available and is no longer manufactured at this time. One employee went so far as to tell me that it is not an issue and my vehicle is not unsafe. This is untrue. The recall notice states, "due to a manufacturing issue, the inflator inside the driver frontal airbag module may absorb moisture, which may cause the driver frontal airbag to malfunction in a crash where the airbag deploys. The airbag could under-inflate during deployment, increasing the risk of injury to the driver. The airbag inflator could also rupture during deployment, with metal fragments possibly striking the driver or passengers, increasing the risk of serious injury or death. " they also refuse to give a deadline for this issue to be resolved by. I am writing this complaint as of August 8,2020 whilst sitting here with Honda on the phone.

An underinflated air bag cushion may not properly protect the occupant. These scenarios increase the risk of serious injury or death. " and, "Honda will notify owners in an interim notification that the parts necessary to repair their vehicles are currently not available. ".
