1 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/21/2023

Purchased a Toyota corolla cross 2023 on April 14th. Was very excited until I began noticing when the “automated start stop” system began to engage at times, when I had the system supposedly off. I took it to the dealership where they tried to reenact the problem and nothing happened, they assumed it was user error. On April 21st I had driven the car for approximately 40 minutes and it was raining very hard. I had the windshield wipers running, the radio was on and when I came to the stop sign, I engaged the break (the automated start stop system was on) the car totally shut down with all its bells and whistles flashing telling me the engine was off, it needed fluid, etc. I was in quite a panic mode due to the weather conditions, and worried that someone was going to hit me from behind. After composing myself, I put the car in park and restarted the car. When I was safe to pull over I disengaged the automatic start stop system. I was able to make it home. On April 22nd I took the car out to try to reenact the situation and after driving a short time, the car once again, shut down. This is very very dangerous. I now have disengaged the automatic start system in hopes that it will not shut down until I can return this lemon to the dealership.

2 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/02/2021

Door locks are all malfunctioning. Only 2 work some of the time and the other 3 none of the time. Key works sometimes in 2 of the locks and not at all in the back door.

The front end underneath of the Honda is completely rusted and corroded. The car is unsafe to drive.

4 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/25/2020

I was reviewing a list of recalls for my vehicle and I just wanted to know are there still recalls on it. I just purchased this vehicle on 02/21/2020 and I noticed the fuse box was only working on one side. And then riding the interstate it slowed don't and gradually picked back up speed. I think it's the fuel propulsion system as I read from an earlier report.

5 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/25/2020

I purchased the 2003 Honda crv from anthony auto sales in thomson, GA on 2/21/2020. After purchase I noticed my cigarette lighter/charging port didn't work. Did a fuse test on it only to discover half of the fuses weren't working in the fuse box under the hood. I called to the dealership and they told me it may be an electrical problem I couldn't get the vehicle in because I was having surgery the following week. On February 25 while driving on the interstate the vehicle slowed down but picked its speed back up and for some reason it seems to get poor gas mileage. I like my vehicle I just want to know of any future and past recalls and would like to have them rectified since I now own the vehicle. Past reports have also shown problems with the airbags as well. There's a problem with the door locks as well.

7 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/23/2018

On 2/23/2018, my 2003 Honda crv caugh on fire. It was parked in a spot at my apartment complex. I 1st noticed smoke and some fire in left front wheel well. Then bursted into flames. I didn't do any unusal driving. Went to work that day. 3 miles round trip. Did some local driving. About 9pm went and got some gas. Came home, parked car. I was inside for sevral minutes. Then as I said earlier, I came out and saw the smoke and the fire starting. Since this happened 3 plus weeks ago. I have of course notified my insurance, to which it was a total loss. Then some peolpe said I should look into any recalls. And I did notice that there was recalls on this make, model and year. Is there anything that can be done on your end to do additional research?.

8 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/23/2017

I was driving my 2003 Honda Cr-v on the highway, when suddenly smoke began coming from the center vents; within seconds the car was fully engulfed in flames. My car was in fantastic condition, and maintained to Honda's specifications. I found on-line that this is a reoccurring issue among 03 Cr-vs.

9 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/08/2017

Takata recall.

10 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/14/2017

On Tuesday March 14, 2017 the car window motor started acting up, the window would go down on its own. As I started the car I started I began to smell smoke, it appeared to be coming from driver side door near the window. Upon turning the car off and removing the negative end to the battery the car began smoking more and in seconds the drivers door was up in flames. I had to run and grab a fire extinguisher from inside. The fire was put out however the door was completely destroyed, the car seat was burned as well as the steering wheel. The vehicle was luckily stationary, and the event occurred on my property where I was able to put the fire out without causing more extensive damage. I noticed online that there were previous recalls for Honda and the window switch causing a fire. There had been no previous issues with the window.

11 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/20/2016

My son was driving my 2003 Honda crv on highway 101 south near exit 484a, in rohnert park, CA just south of the todd rd. Overpass/on ramp. It was a windy day. The hood of the crv came up and hit/broke the windshield. My son was able to look sideways to guide himself off the freeway. He was able to guide himself into a safety zone next to the freeway, but couldn't get out of his car. He reached around from the driver's seat, and was able to pull down the hood somewhat (he's 6'4"). He was able to drive down farther to a more safe area on the wilfred avenue off/ramp. He was able to exit the vehicle, and further close the hood. The windshield is shattered, and there is damage to the hood. The force caused two areas of the hood to bend near the windshield. The hood won't open now. It is in a opened position. There are small dents in the hood from the impact. From this location, he was able to drive approximately 2 miles home, using back roads and sticking his head out of the window to see where he was going. This happened on a Friday afternoon in a rush time on the freeway. Luckily, my middle aged son was strong enough and tall enough to close the hood while in the safety lane. I wouldn't have been able to do so, due to being elderly. We have read on the internet of multiple incidents with the Honda crv 2002-2006 hood opening up and hitting the windshield, yet no recall has been initiated. There is believed to be a defect in the hood latch. We also have another 2003 crv, and I am now scared to drive that one too, knowing this could happen with that crv too. My son called our insurance and arranged for the windshield repair right after the accident. However, we have realized there is more damage. We will be calling our insurance and local Honda dealer (manly Honda of santa rosa) to see how to proceed from here.

12 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/27/2016

Honda has sent a recall notice to me several times for the VIN listed above. I have replied back every time noting that the vehicle was traded-in on a new vehicle in 2011 at richmond Ford in richmond, va. Whoever owns this vehicle is not getting the notices. Can you please help?.

13 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/20/2015

Vehicle was parked in driveway at night. During the night, vehicle rolled out driveway, across street and into neighbor's yard. Vehicle was parked, shutoff and key removed even though not put into park. I tried it again and key can be removed after turning off engine with automatic transmission shifter still in "d".

14 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/02/2014

I am unable to insert key into driver side door and as a result can not open the door to get in. I have to go through the passenger side, open the door to driver's side. Driver side front door lock does not turn and we are stranded as the door doesn't open. I am hoping to call Honda and suggest they have a recall as this look like wide-spread issue based on the feedback on the web.

15 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/28/2014

While I was on my way home from work, I decided to take the freeway (instead of the normal roads) back home. I was hitting speeds that were 60mph-65mph. It was until I was 15 minutes into my driving that I heard something snap in the front of my car and heard a dense whoosh. The hood of my car slams up against my windshield and I am completely blinded; I can not see in front of me. Thankfully, I use my rear views while I am in the middle of the freeway and manage to drive off to the shoulder. If I had been surrounded by cars or if this had happened during a heavier traffic period I might not have made it.

16 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2012

All power locks are failing. Only drivers side power lock now works, but that is beginning to fail also. Rear gate can only be unlocked with a key from the outside of the car.

17 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2008

A/c compressor "implode" on my Honda Cr-v (2003) ex model. Will cost outrageous amount to fix and have read at least 800 complaints about similar issues at edmunds and other on-line car talk blogs and chat rooms. Honda should fix this problem for its loyal customers.
