1 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/31/2021

The air conditioner began making a loud noise under the hood then it began making a rattling noise. When I turned it on it blew warm air. Now I don’t get the noise only warm air. I took 2004 Honda Cr-v to the shop to get checked out. I rec’d an estimate of $1,800. This vehicle’s a/c compressor motor is directly under the motor making it difficult to remove/repair/replace. The clutch engaging the compressor is not working ** due to the heat of the motor. Honda: this is a very poor placement for an a/c compressor.

Door locks leep failing.

3 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/19/2019

I am no longer owner of this vehicle and continue to receive recall letters and voicemails.

4 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2019

I just saw a recall on some 2004 Honda crv models about the window switch. Mine went faulty a couple years ago and I cannot use 1 window. The dealer said it was the switch then, but it was somewhere around $1000 to fix so I decided to just not use the window. I just saw the recall and checked my VIN which says itsnot affected. How do I get this fixed? thank you.

5 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/08/2019

Is there a recall on the ac compressor?.

6 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/25/2017

Since 2015 and still today my car has been making a very loud whooping noise when the a/c is turned on. It has progressively turned louder, and over the last month or so, the a/c works on and off but never with the force it used to. The problem has always occurred when the vehicle is running and with the a/c on.

7 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/12/2017

I along with other Honda crv users are looking to file a complaint to have a possible recall issued to Honda. I have tried contacting corporate and they act like they've never heard of the issue. The issue is the fact that the air compressor found on the Cr-v has the issue of imploding; the internals completely shattering, forcing debris throughout your ac system, plaguing all of the associated components and causing the compressor to seize or lock up. This debris will find itself lodged in these parts and a simple flush just won't do. Replacing only the ac compressor and drier is not sufficient enough to have reliable ac once again. I am just to the point of even scared to drive my car anymore and Honda will not help with the issue. Even doing a simple google search of Honda crv compressor failure you ill find hundreds of articles stating there is an issue of crv's from 2002-2006. I feel as if something needs to be done. Even if they just add a shield from the compressor to the engine. Please help if you can; even if you could just investigate it. Thank you so much in advance.

8 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2016

I first heard a noise from the front of the car under the hood, and later I felt many metallic pieces banging inside the car and falling off, when I was driving on a city street. Later when I took it to the mechanics, I was told the air compressor was exploded, and some of the metallic pieces from the explosion partially cut my belt. The mechanics said it is necessary to replace the entire air compressor, condenser and belt, and do a complete flush of the system. The worst case, if some small pieces residue inside the system, it could hurt the engine.

9 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/12/2016

My airbags have been replaced as part of the takata recall. After the last airbag was replaced on 2/12/2016, the service advisor told me that the srs opds unit was malfunctioning and needed to be replaced at my expense ($475). He said that this needed to be replaced in order for the airbags to work properly. My contention is that if this unit needs to be replaced for the airbags to work, then this is a safety issue that should be covered by the manufacturer, exactly like the airbags have. I called Honda is out of warranty and therefore my responsibility. I disagree. Please review my case and let me know your thoughts. Thank you.

10 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/19/2015

Back door driver side does not lock.

11 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/13/2015

Driver's side sun visor will not stay in position. Drops down constantly. Will not stay up nor pushed forward against windshield. The owners forum has tons of crv owners with this problem. I contacted Honda and was told they do not guarantee that part! this is a major safety hazard. Honda knows it has issue with it's visors however will not issue a recall for the problem.

12 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/22/2015

This has happened more then once. I would be getting gas, and when the pump clicked to indicate that it was full I would take the nozzle out and the gas would come spilling out of the tank all over the side of the car and down the tire. This is very concerning to me. Im affraid of a fire. I haven't taken it to my mechanic yet. I have seen several complaints about this. I really hope Honda looks into this.

13 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/30/2014

My Cr-v ex was serviced by the dealership I bought it from. The engine, cat converter, and cv-boot needs to be replaced, because the engine has a server oil leak internally. This oil leak my also cost me a transmission. These issues cost over $8,400. 00 and counting. I only owned the car 66 days before I was told that the engine is junk. A firmly believe that the dealership owes me my money on this issue, because it was brought to there attention less then a week after I purchased this car.

14 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/24/2014

Steering wheel adjuster comes loose every once in a while while driving causing the the steering wheel to move loosely. Had occured several times in last 7 years.

15 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/03/2014

While driving from southern California to northern California, the ac was working just fine when a high pitched squeal started coming from the engine. Lifting my foot off the gas seemed to help and the noise went away, but the noise came back, and a thumping sound started to come through and a small pop happened, sending some sort of black canister shooting out from under my car and onto the freeway. I pulled over and checked the car for damage, not seeing any major marks on the engine and no liquids leaking from the car. Only when I reached my destination and the car would blow boiling hot air out of the vents did I notice and issue. The dealer did an inspection of the car, and told me the ac had literally fallen out of the engine block. I don't understand how a major piece of a vehicle can fall out, and not be able to be replaced without paying $2,000.

16 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2014

Power window will reverse direction.

17 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/06/2013

Thunk noise from engine on passenger side. Worse with turning, happened intermittently at all speeds. Dealer said "something" was not tightened properly, muttering about engine mount. I was not given a service record for the repair and am in the process of trying to get one after the fact. At the same time hear a grinding noise that was not resolved. Cr-v at repair shop now and said it looks as if air compressor, clutch and fans for ac are not right. If not resolved will blow and damage engine. I have searched and found this is an alarmingly common problem. Is there any move to investigate or initiate a recall?.

18 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/21/2010

Airconditioner quit working. Thought was just low freon-was shrapnal in my vehicle from the unit disintegrated. Was told lucky I didn't drive any further or the shrapnel would have gotten into the engine, seized it up, possibly crashing in the process. This is something that Honda knows is happening. It cost me about $1600. 00 to repair, someone is going to continue to drive after losing the airconditioning because they can't afford to fix it and someone is going to get hurt from it crashing.

19 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/03/2010

Ac compressor fail. Compressor seized up, built pressure, exploded. Had repaired. 2 years later, same thing. Had it repaired. 3 years later, 5/29/15, same thing happened. Looked online for recall. Thousands of complaints, but no recall. Could potentially cause injury.

20 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/21/2007

Driving and heard loud noise, a/c quit cooling, took to Honda dealership and was dx as needing a new compressor clutch coil, dealer paid part of the cost.
