5 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/23/2021

My driver power window switch melted and failed in the same way described in the current recall for the same model and year vehicle, just not under the shs VIN numbers that are covered. I suspect this recall should cover more cars than previously thought. I noticed this problem after heavy rains, first my windows stopped rolling up and down, then I began noticed a burring/melting plastic smell coming from the drivers door. I took the door apart and tracked the smell down to the power master switch. After inspecting the switch, it was indeed the switch that melted on the circuit board. It seems to have damaged the driver wiring door harness as well, also like the current recall states. All just as described in the current safety recall which I have attached below. **safety recall: 2002-06 Cr-v driver’s power window switch (only vins that start with shs) ''under severe conditions, water or other liquid may enter the driver’s window and reach the power window master switch on the door panel. Liquid in the switch can damage the switch’s printed circuit board (pcb), causing the switch to fail. In rare cases, the damaged pcb creates a short circuit that overheats the switch connectors and melts them, leading to a possible fire. '' all affected vehicles, even those previously repaired under s/b 12-067, must have the driver's power window switch replaced under the current recall.

6 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/10/2021

Y 2005 crv se driver window stops after rolling halfway up. I have to press window button a 2nd time. The driver window will roll down on it's own. Some 2005-2007 crv were recalled because this problem can start a fire.

7 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/30/2020

The drivers side window wont go down intermittently which I consider a danger as we have a bridge that cars have been shoved off into the water and it scares me that it could happen to me and I would need that window to go down so I can escape before that window fails or the whole electrical system fails. I have asked the dealership to check it multiple times but of course it wont do it while at the dealership. The car is almost always stationary when the window wont go down. It happens at the atm and other drive thrus. The recall number is 20v768 but so far my car isn't listed even though I have had this problem for about 3 years.

8 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/25/2020

Have lost power to both low beam lights consecutively and randomly every month over the past year of ownership of this vehicle have replaced headlights multiple times and lost low beams especially on drivers side during commute at night on the freeway.

9 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/16/2018

My headlight bulbs burn-out after only 4-6 weeks. This has been happening for about 3 years. The short-bulb-life event occurs about 70% on the driver side, and about 30% on the passenger side. There is no sign of moisture entering the bulb/light area. This is a constant safety issue for me since the problem means I am often driving with only one headlight. This problem is also very expensive-- approximately 12-15 new bulbs per year ! the bulbs burn out when driving on roads of all types. On this form below, where "when did this happen?" is requested, I have entered the date of the most recent occurrence (bulb burned out after only 5 weeks of life) although as stated above, this event has been happening regularly for the past 3 years.

10 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2018

The driver side power window switch has failed and window will not open.

11 Electrical System problem

For no reason driver side window some how fell out of the support or guiding track and and broke inside the door problem now 3/17/18 for 5 months tge window control on the driver side doesn't roll up the window on the passenger side you can kind put it down . Then last night tge window on the drivers side fall out of the track and breaks inside the door. 14 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/05/2017

Low beam headlights ever since we purchased the car, we've had to replace the low beam bulbs every few weeks. They burn out at completely random times (its happened both while in motion and stationary, in residential areas as well as out driving through countryside, freeways; basically everywhere). Not only is this an inconvenience due to the amount of money spent on replacements, it's also extremely dangerous. They've burned out on night drives in the countryside where our only option was to use high beams the rest of the way, etc. Unacceptable that Honda has not yet acknowledged the issue, even though it's very well documented online as being an issue. There was a recall for this issue up through 2004 Cr-v's but they've not extended to the 05 model year.

15 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2017

The master switch for the power windows intermittently does not work - whether the vehicle is stationary or in motion. I have now had it disconnected because the same switch in other Honda c-rvs 2002-2006 has caused melting of the switch and even fires. My VIN is not part of the current recall (NHTSA recall number: 12v-486) for this switch defect but I wonder if it should be? I have reported this issue to Honda and it has been recorded as case # 05298119.

16 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/04/2017

"takata recall"- my window will not go up/down on the driver side (front). I was told that maybe a switching problem or the motor needs to replaced. The car was stationary for about 3 months.

17 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/09/2016

About every month we have had to replace the front low beam headlights on either the drivers side or passenger side. We have replace the entire headlight assm and use surgical gloves to put in the bulbs. They blow on the road and nobody can explain why and it is dangerous. It started awhile ago.

18 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2016

I received notice of the takata airbags, from the perfection Honda 2603 american rd se, rio rancho, nm, 87124, I took the Honda in for those repairs, that caused a electrical short, and damage to battery and parts, they refused to repair their damage, the damage light is still on, I asked them for repairs, to no avail, randall wahlert wahlertr@swcp. Com 505 934-2226.

19 Electrical System problem

Headlights (halogen) burn out within months of install, repeatedly.

20 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/08/2016

Since purchasing the vehicle two years ago, the headlights have been replaced 6 times. Both driver and passenger sides fail. It has become a safety issue as I am often caught in the dark without proper lighting. Each time the bulbs were installed correctly. Last bulb failed 1/8/2016.

24 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/19/2014

The car repaired with the Honda dealer as per the recall notice for the "2002-2006 Cr-v driver's power window master switch" today when it was parked in the covered parking garage of the macy's corporate place, it got fire after 1 hour it was parked. The driver side switch controls was completed melted and caught fire police and fire dept came and put the fire out the car was towed to classic collision 3507 old norcross road, duluth 30096 and they judged as total loss Honda's replaced master switch is no help - it caused the fire and have photos to back it up.

25 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/26/2014

After about 10 minutes of driving at night the low beam head lights start to pulse or flicker (2 to 3 times a second) continuously for the remainder of the trip. Have to replace low beam bulbs every 3 to 5 months. Both low beam lights inadvertently turn off and on for a few seconds buy themselves. High beam lights seam to work fine. The above issues I listed are the same or similar to those in the Honda service bulletin 12-023 that covers a recall for the 2002-04 crv. I believe that this recall should be amended to cover the 2005 Honda crv before someone is injured or killed due to this ongoing safety failure. Honda America told me that they were not aware of this problem. They said to take the crv to an authorized dealer to evaluate the defect but would not address my issues under the recall unless the NHTSA mandates an amendment to the recall to include the 2005 Honda crv. I respectfully request that you address this concern immediately so that I and other 2005 Honda crv owners can resolve these safety flaws.

26 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/11/2013

The vehicle was difficult to start on the first cold day of the season. When checking the voltage on the battery, I found that there was corrosion on the positive connection. I also noticed that the original clamp had been replaced with an after-market clamp. Further inspection revealed corrosion back through the cable itself which would not allow cutting the affected cable because it would have been too short to reach the battery.

30 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2012

Circa November 2011 the driver's door actuator on my 2005 Honda cr/v failed. Subsequently two additional door lock actuators failed. The dealer wants circa $300 to repair each of these actuators. I believe these are design flaws and that Honda should repair/replace these actuators on an extended/goodwill warranty basis.

31 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/11/2012

Vehicle was parked and unattended in outside parking space over night and driver side window switch not working - fire occured and started on driver side door - before fire driver window was not working.

32 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/26/2012

The driver side master window switch failed causing the part to get very hot, melt, and emit smoke from the switch. This could have very easily started a large fire in the vehicle. Once the switch is melted, it shorts out the circuit causing the fuses to pop and the window will no longer operate. I contacted a Honda dealership and discovered the same part # used in the 2006 model is recalled for this very same reason. I believe this affects more parts than are covered by the recall as a quick look on the web uncovered several more cases for 2005 models.

33 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/20/2012

The driver side power lock cannot be locked or unlocked on the driver side with my key button. I have to manually lock and unlock the driver side door with my key. The rest of the locks work fine with the key button.

35 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2012

The headlights no longer work. We can use the fog lights and the brights but not the headlights. We've had the bulbs and the fuses changed without any result. Other years for this same model have been recalled for this issue, but not the 2005 as of yet.
