1 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 12/25/2020

Have lost power to both low beam lights consecutively and randomly every month over the past year of ownership of this vehicle have replaced headlights multiple times and lost low beams especially on drivers side during commute at night on the freeway.

2 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2020

The bulbs in my low-beam headlights continually burn out while in motion, usually on a rural highway. This is very dangerous when driving, especially on dark country roads. To give you an idea, I am having to replace the bulbs 3-4 times per year on each headlight. From a quick internet search, I can see this is a common problem for many, many Honda crv owners. It looks like there was a recall for this issue for the 2002-2004 models (NHTSA campaign number: 12v136000) - will you please expand this recall to include the 2005? if both headlights go dark at the same time, it will probably cause an accident. With this happening so often on the 2005, the likelihood of an accident increases. Please help. (the latest date of 12/1/2020 when my light burned out is in the field below, but it has also happened several times this year. ).

3 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 12/28/2019

The contact owns a 2005 Honda Cr-v. While driving approximately 75-80 mph, the passenger side low beam headlight became inoperable. The contact stated that the passenger side headlamp was replaced on several occasions. The manufacturer and dealer were not notified. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 138,000.

4 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 11/21/2018

Every few months the driver side headlight goes out. I have owned the vehicle since 2011, and it has been an ongoing issue the entire time. It does not matter if headlights are used continuously or for just an hour a day on the highway and interstate, have had multiple warnings from area police. Same thing happens that the driver side bulb blows. Passenger side has only needed replaced a few times since I have owned the vehicle. Why isn't this issue on a recall like the 2002-2004 models, they had the same issue but with a recall. .

5 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 11/19/2018

I've own this vehicle for about 4 years and it has been an ongoing issue ever since I own this vehicle. I constantly have to replace the low beam light bulbs on both driver and passenger side. They seem to go out while driving. It is very dangerous for me to drive with only one headlight (low beam) especially there is no street lights and also for oncoming drivers if I use the high beam to drive. There is a same problem for this model - years 2002 2004 (NHTSA campaign number: 12v136000). Please expand the recall to include model year 2005 as well before someone get injured.

6 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2018

Headlight recall. I am aware that there have been some headlight recalls on previous year models of Honda crv. I have a 2005. The front headlights burn out and/or fail very frequently. I have owned the crv for maybe 5 years and have had to replace the bulbs 4 to 5 times. Now the right headlamp will not work even with a brand new bulb. This seems to be an electrical problem. The headlights could fail while driving at night. Please look into it. The date entered below is just the most recent failure.

7 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2018

The head light bulbs keep blowing out. Google it. Some have replace there's 20 times. We are on our 3rd or 4th and it's blown again. One person claims they got 3 tickets. Another said both of their headlights went out while driving. No one knows why. They suggest electrical harness which we did have other problems previously where that came up but it's too expensive to fix.

8 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 10/22/2017

I wrote about my headlight going out twice in the last 3 weeks, well just not as I left to get some groceries, my driver side headlight went out again. Don't understand why NHTSA and Honda are not doing anything to fix what is clearly manufacturers defect.

9 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 10/10/2017

This year I have replaced my driver right side headlight bulb 3 times it goes out for no particular reason. Clearly this is a manufacturer defect which Honda should issue a recall.

10 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 06/05/2017

Low beam headlights ever since we purchased the car, we've had to replace the low beam bulbs every few weeks. They burn out at completely random times (its happened both while in motion and stationary, in residential areas as well as out driving through countryside, freeways; basically everywhere). Not only is this an inconvenience due to the amount of money spent on replacements, it's also extremely dangerous. They've burned out on night drives in the countryside where our only option was to use high beams the rest of the way, etc. Unacceptable that Honda has not yet acknowledged the issue, even though it's very well documented online as being an issue. There was a recall for this issue up through 2004 Cr-v's but they've not extended to the 05 model year.

11 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 05/17/2017

I am constantly having to change the low beam headlamps on both driver and passenger side. There have been numerous times when the headlights go out and stop working while operating on the highway. I have tried different bulbs, and have determined it is not any particular type or quality. The new bulb will typically last 1-3 months. This has been costly, as well as dangerous for my wife to drive at night. I also prefer to drive with the headlights on during the day for safety, which is not always the case when they are going out every 1-3 months. I have researched this, and had found it to be a very comon problem. I found a possible recall for this problem on the 2002-2004 models, but mine is a 2005 model is having the same problem others are reporting. For the safety of myself, and others on the roadway, as well as the numerous other vehicle owners having the same problem, I would request this problem be considered as a safety recall. I also have documentation including dates and mileage for each bulb change which is available upon request.

12 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 04/28/2017

Purchased new in March, 2005, we quickly learned that the low beam headlights on our 2005 Honda crv burn out frequently, usually on both sides and within a few days of each other. When replaced, they will last only a year or so before burning out again. We notice they're burned out when we're driving. We use the headlights both during the day (for safety) and of course at night. We've tried several different types of replacement lamps, but none seem to change the pattern of lamp life. Most recently, I've replaced the low beam headlamps four times (2 each side) within the past 6 months. Last night when tested after replacement, the passenger side lamp only glowed (due to a bad ground connection?) and mysteriously, the bright beam lamp on the same side had also quit working. I have driven approximately one million miles in other vehicles over the past 27 years and have never experienced similar problems with such frequency. Because of the frequency and serious safety concerns due to the unexpected recurrences, I have no choice now but to ask the local Honda dealership to look into the problem. Research shows that this is a serious enough problem with other model years of the same vehicle that it has generated safety recalls. Please widen your investigation and results to include subsequent model years of the Honda crv's, specifically 2005.

13 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 02/13/2017

I have replaced the low beam headlight bulbs in my 2005 Honda crv 4 times in the last year. I was cautious with the lights during instillation making sure to do everything right. Finally, decided to bring up the issue as my wife was driving the car in the road last night when the passenger side went out. It decreased her visibility on a country highway causing her to have to slow down a little to make sure she could see. It made the conditions unsafe and it also brings up the possibility of receiving a traffic ticket due to the light being out. Luckily, she made it home with no issues. However, the next day, she turned on the car and the driver and passenger side headlights were out. The lights have been continually going out no matter the driving situation. Based on my internet searching, others seem to have the same problem and I noticed Honda has a recall for 2002-2004 headlight issues but I believe the recall needs to be offered to the later models as well. I believe it to be an issue with the electrical wiring and not the headlights that I keep having to constantly buy. Please help with addressing the issue to Honda.

14 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2017

The low beam headlights on my 2005 vehicle repeatedly blow out bulbs leaving me with only one and potentially no low beam headlights. On both sides of the vehicle the life expectancy of the bulbs is no more than 4 months. They are unreliable and may cease working while on the road reducing my visibility in all types of weather conditions and at night. This problem seems to be the same as the one for the recall of 2002-2004 Cr-vs and has been reported by numerous owners. I contacted Honda's customer service and was told that the VIN of my vehicle was not covered and unless the VIN was part of the recall, they would not honor correcting the problem. (case # 06225907) request investigation to have 2005 Cr-vs added to the recall.

15 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 12/22/2016

Headlights go out intermittently. I thought they were going out and kept replacing bulbs, but now realize they will come back on. I see many many posts from others with this same model/year complaining about this! there was a recall on the 2004, needs to be extended to 2005!.

16 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 11/09/2016

About every month we have had to replace the front low beam headlights on either the drivers side or passenger side. We have replace the entire headlight assm and use surgical gloves to put in the bulbs. They blow on the road and nobody can explain why and it is dangerous. It started awhile ago.

17 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 06/13/2016

Drivers side headlight low beam went out while driving. Bought replacement bulb and put in but low beam still didn't work.

18 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2016

Low beam headlights, both driver & passenger, continue to go out despite changing bulbs three times now. The bright lights continue to work. They have gone out as we were driving and in the driveway after starting the car.

19 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2016

The halogen bulbs in my headlights frequently burn out. They always have, but I didn't know so many other owners were dealing with the same issue. This is dangerous. I just learned that Honda issued a recall for this very same problem for years 2002-2004. There are numerous complaints for this same issue on record for 2005. Honda needs to include the 2005 model for this recall and correct this defect. Why aren't they responding to this issue?.

20 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2016

The contact owns a 2005 Honda Cr-v. The contact had to replace the front low beam headlights six times within four months. The dealer was unable to diagnose the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 94,700.

21 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 04/10/2016

Headlights (halogen) burn out within months of install, repeatedly.

22 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 03/26/2016

The contact owns a 2005 Honda Cr-v. While driving 55 mph, the low beam headlights burned out without warning on the drivers side of the vehicle. The contact was pulled over by law enforcement regarding the issue. The vehicle was repaired, but the issue recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 166,520.

23 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 01/13/2016

The headlights keep burning out every 3-6 months, this can't be normal. I keep reading complaints online from others experiencing the exact same thing but Honda is not taking responsibility. Besides being costly, time-consuming and annoying, it is a safety hazard and it is illegal, you can get a ticket for driving with a burnt light. In addition the light on my dashboard has gone out, and the 2 rear doors electrical locks do not work.

24 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 08/05/2015

While driving across country from arkansas to washington with my 22 year old son in his vehicle his headlights went out on very dark, curvy roads while he was driving. We were out in an area with no resources. We were able to use his high beams fortunately until we could get to a safe location. Since then the light bulbs fail frequently approximately 2-3 months for no apparent reason. Usually one light at a time, constantly replacing bulbs. This a very well documented problem. And [obviously] a poor design issue. There is currently an outstanding recall for this problem for model years 2002-2004 (NHTSA campaign number: 12v136000). From my research, this problem seems to be at least as prevalent (if not more so) in the 2005 and 2006 model years. Please expand the recall to include those model years and force Honda to own up to what appears to be a poor design issue. This is a [major] safety issue and an ongoing problem.

25 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 10/17/2014

Was driving on highway at 55 mph at night and the headlights dimmed and the dashboard lights started to blink and then both low beam headlights went out. We had to drive 6 miles home with only high beams working. Had head lights and battery replaced and worked until Dec, 14,2014. Again driving at night at 55 mph on highway the lights dimmed, dashboard lights started blinking and then both low beams went out. Again had to drive home with high beams only. After having the low beams replaced the first time all gauges failed-gas gauge, odometer and speedometer. After turning the car off and restarting all gauges started working again. This could be very dangerous for me when headlights blow and for other cars on the road as I need to drive with high beams on. From what I have read Honda has recalls on other years of the crv for the same issue but not on 2005.

26 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2014

The driver side headlight went out for the third time in 12 months. These vehicles need to be recalled and fixed, as the 2004 model was recalled but the 2005 models seem to have the same issue.

27 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 08/03/2014

The driver side headlight burns out within 5 months of replacing the bulb. I have gone through 2 bulbs already. There seems to be an electrical issue causing this. The fuses are okay and correct.

28 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 05/14/2014

Low beam headlight keep blowing after a few months have almost wrecked from low light when driving at night have also had both low beams blow when driving. Creating a major problem.

29 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 04/21/2014

3 times in the last 8 months I have replaced the passenger side low beam light. It will work then go to a low light. Now, replacements just leaves the dim version of a headlight beam on. The recall skips the 2005 Honda crv and it should be included as they have included later year models of other Honda vehicles. I can not drive at night due to no visibility on my low beam headlights.

30 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 02/05/2014

2005 crv has flickering headlights, interior lights, instrument panel map lights, etc. . . It has also been problematic since new with low beam headlight failure have replaced headlights at an average of 6 month intervals. This should be placed on a a recall to extend through 2006 models. This is a problem repeatedly mentioned on other blog / forum automotive sites.

31 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 11/30/2013

The contact owns a 2005 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated the driver's side headlight stopped illuminating intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing where the technician stated the headlight assembly had to be replaced. After the vehicle was repaired the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 99,000.

32 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 09/02/2013

Light bulbs fail frequently (anywhere from approximately 2-3 months) for no apparent reason. Usually one light at a time. Constantly replacing bulbs both interior or exterior. Recieve a ticket in NY state last week for a blown low beam headlight that had just been replaced last month. Last winter I replaced all fuses just in case, however, that has not stopped the problem. As stated by another owner - "this is a very well documented problem. This is a [major] safety issue. " crv is in the shop now getting a new air compressor ($2,500) - engine over heated due to the a/c unit in the passing lane on I-95 in washington, DC on Monday. Not very happy with Honda right now.

33 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 05/15/2013

Since purchasing the vehicle, I have replaced the low beam headlight on the passenger side five times. Recently, the driver side headlight burnt out, but simply replacing the bulb did not work.

34 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2013

Headlight failed. I have replaced driver and passenger side headlight bulbs 5 times in the past year. Every couple months one or the other goes out. The most recent was 2 weeks ago.

35 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 12/07/2012

The contact owns a 2005 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated that when driving during night hours, the low beam headlights failed after driving approximately 500 feet. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where they advised him that the bulbs were not a problem and that the problem could have been caused by an electrical failure. The manufacturer was later contacted and they offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were approximately 65,200. The VIN was unavailable.
