2006 Honda Cr-v. Consumer writes in regards to failure of door mounted electrical system.
The contact owns a 2006 Honda Cr-v. While the vehicle was idling, the vehicle had trouble starting. Upon inspection, the driver side door began smoking. The contact noticed flames coming from the driver side door. The contact was able to extinguish the flames and disconnect the battery. All the warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. Prior to the failure, the vehicle was repaired under NHTSA campaign number: 12v486000 (electrical system, visibility). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000. The VIN was not provided.
