37 Latches/locks/linkage problem

Failure Date: 09/27/2013

The first incident involved the back gate which would not unlock with the key fob. I tried locking/unlocking from the driver's interior door controls and also with the key fob. Attempts were made with the car running, ignition turned to accessory, and also with the car turned off. Nothing corrected the problem. This persisted into the next day when it started working without any particular intervention beyond my previous attempts. The problem reappeared a few days later, only now it is the front passenger door. I lock the car with the key fob, but the passenger door remains unlocked. The same is true when attempting to lock using the switch on the driver's door. Like others who have posted on this site, this car also attempts to lock/unlock at unexpected times well above the usual speed where the automatic lock normally operates. This is a safety and security risk. My young passengers are at risk if the locks disengage. My property is not secure if the locks are not reliable. My personal safety is at risk if my alarm system fails to secure all doors. It is unsettling to consider the consequence of being unexpectedly trapped inside the car. It is equally troublesome to drive the car not knowing if my children and I may become locked out in the dark, in a parking deck, or in a remote location during travel. Repairing each lock as it fails is a risky gamble, but I cannot afford to replace actuators (approx $250 x 5 doors) on every door as a preemptive repair, either.

41 Latches/locks/linkage problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2013

On March 21, 2012, I took my2008 Honda crv for service . My power door locks were malfunctioning. . They would constantly lock and un lock as I was driving. They would be clicking lock and unlock , dealer claimed I needed an actuator assembly at the cost of app. $250. I naturally had it repaired as it was a serious safety concern, since my small grandsons are in the back. On July 10, 2013 I returned with the identical door lock problem. Since I had driven more than 12,000 miles since the last repair , this was repair was not covered under warranty. After expressing my dissatisfaction, the dealer supposedly called Honda directly and Honda agreed to pay half of repair costs. My cost -$87. 00. Since it was a major safetyconcern for me, I agreed. Guess what? two days later the same problem with the door locks re occurred. They are constantly clicking open and closed. When I called the dealer they told me it's probably an underlying electrical problem. I am reluctant to spend anymore on this apparently unfixable issue, but it is a serious safety issue, especially when young children and infants are required by law to be in the backseat. Judging by the number of complaints on this website I would like to see the NHTSA pressure Honda motors to assume responsibility for this electrical malfunction.

42 Latches/locks/linkage problem

Failure Date: 07/08/2013

The passenger side door lock starting locking and unlocking erratically. It has steadily become worse and now will not lock unless you click the door locker over and over and sometimes will not lock at all. The dealership tells me that I have a problem every time I take the car in to have it serviced along with an amount of $230 to fix it. I have read hundreds of complaints on the internet about people having the same problem with this year model and many, many other year models. Clearly this is a problem!! I hope that Honda will step up and recall this before someone gets hurt although I did read about children being locked in the car after being buckled in and the parent went to get in the car and couldn't. I also found a class action suit that has been filed against them. It is time for Honda to make a recall!!.

53 Latches/locks/linkage problem

Failure Date: 03/22/2013

In March of 2013 the passenger door started to lock itself immediately following me unlocking it. I thought it was a fuse problem. Then on may 26,2013 my child noticed that the back passenger door had begun to do the same thing. To fix the problem on both doors would be upwards of $440+. This seems to be a serious issue with all crvs and a real safety issue for those with young children.

The power locks on the doors keep unlocking themselves while driving . It has potentially unlocked while driving even though the lock has been placed. 59 Latches/locks/linkage problem

Failure Date: 01/28/2013

My door lock actuator is broken on the driver door. This is a definite security problem. When I went to lock my car, the lock on the driver door kept unlocking. There were popping noises when I tried to unlock & lock my door. All other doors worked, but I had to leave my car unlocked over night because it would not stay locked. When I got to work the next day, it locked after a few tries but made a loud grinding noise.

60 Latches/locks/linkage problem

Failure Date: 01/26/2013

Suddenly all the doors would lock as soon as I would get in I would try to unlock with door switch and the lock back right away. They have locked me out of my own car. I have tried the resetting procedures from manual and they do not change. To get into my car you have to pull handle as soon as you hit unlock on key.

61 Latches/locks/linkage problem

Failure Date: 12/10/2012

The car kept saying a door was opened when it wasn't and then because of that the car wouldn't lock when I was in it and then the interior lights wouldn't go off. Then, it just stopped happening. Then on 1/14, every time I used the brake when I was driving, the doors would unlock and the interior lights would go on. And then when I would accelerate the doors would lock and the interior lights would go off. This all began the week after I took the car to the dealership to get new tires (where they ripped me off by charging me $1,300 to replace 4 tires!). Very frustrating.

65 Latches/locks/linkage problem

66 Latches/locks/linkage problem

Failure Date: 10/17/2012

As soon as you would unlock the automatic doors locks - the front driver door, it would quickly lock back up, you had to force it to unlock once it locked on its own, you can use the clicker or the unlock button, but you had to be very quick to be able to unlock it - you had to have your one hand on the door handle and the other hand on the unlock button - or else you can't get out that door. Once you get to speeds of 5 mph the doors will automatically lock, the back driver door started to slowly unlock while driving, while the car was stopped, it would lock once you got to the 5 mph but then start unlocking again. I replaced the actuators for the driver side doors and now the passenger back door lock started making noises and is starting to unlock on its own. Called Honda and they said it must happen often because they have the parts for it. I asked if there was a recall and they said no, so I had to purchase the parts.

67 Latches/locks/linkage problem

Failure Date: 10/10/2012

The locks on the Honda Cr-v 2008 are defective and can pose a serious safety issue. The locks on the door lock at will, won't unlock when I try to unlock them, and lock while I'm driving and/or putting the reverse. Passengers cannot get out of the car, even after I press the unlock button on both the door and the key. I fear that my toddler is going to get locked into the vehicle and/or trapped in if we are in an accident. This is a recurring problem that started just a few months after I bought the vehicle and many other Honda Cr-v owners are reporting the same issue, yet Honda has not issued a recall for these defective locks. Please address this issue as a safety issue and urge them to recall these locks.

Rear passanger door lock actuator failed at 45k front passanger door lock actuator failed at 68k.

69 Latches/locks/linkage problem

Failure Date: 08/31/2012

While driving the car on the interstate 635 in dallas TX area , the door suddenly unlocked automatically (driver side and driver side rear) and I felt the doors opened a bit as I can feel some vibration noise and the air noise thro the small gap , this is so risky , but the reason iam complaining this was looks like a very generic issue in the crv's and Honda really refuses to address it , I would like them to have a look at it before its too late.
