Tl the contact owns a 2008 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated that the door locks failed to secure and were locking and unlocking randomly while the vehicle was in operation. The dealer (goodson Honda in houston, TX) indicated that they serviced the vehicle per an extended warranty campaign (a14-083) product update regarding the driver's door lock actuator; however, the remedy was not a permanent solution. Shortly after the dealer's repair, the other three doors made a clicking noise, and locked and unlocked more frequently. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was not available.
Recall came out for the driver's door lock because the door will not lock or cycles up and down when trying to lock the door. It was replaced but the same exact problem happened on the passenger side door lock. This is a safety hazard as the passenger door could not be opened. Was charged for replacement and Honda service stated the passenger side door lock did not have a recall despite having the same problem as stated in the recall.
At times passenger front door locks can not be unlocked. At other times lock will randomly lock and unlock during which door can not be unlocked. This creates unsafe conditions where door can not be locked at times or unlocked at times. I believe this to be a defect with the door lock actuator.
Passenger side door lock will not stay unlocked. Either manually unlocked or automatic such as when the transmission is put in park position. This causes a potential safety problem for any passenger sitting in the passenger location. They cannot conveniently exit the vehicle at any time.
Rear passenger door lock cannot be locked. Keep unlocking by itself. Major safety issue. I've done my research and seems like a very common issue on 2007-2009 crv. Honda needs to fix this issue ASAP before anybody get hurts.
Started experiencing door lock failure a few months ago. (~56,000 miles) I noticed driver side rear door lock is not staying locked, car locks continually try to lock themselves when accelerating from 5-10 mph. Door locks keep attempting to lock, driving me crazy. Not to mention a big safety issue.
Passenger side door lock failed due to defective part (door lock actuator) and door cannot be unlocked or opened from outside of the vehicle.
My rear driver's side door lock would not lock. I took my Cr-v into the dealer and they said my actuator needed to be replaced. I had just bought the car, used, 3 months previously. I've read online that several people have had the same problem! this needs to be recalled! recently (11/27/13) my doors are now starting to unlock and lock on their own as well! I read that this might be due to other actuatiors needing to be replaced! I've always had a Honda but if this problem isn't resolved I will never again own a Honda!!! recall now!!!.
In August of 2012, the right rear door lock would not stay locked. We had the faulty part replaced. Now in June of 2013, we are having problems with the right front door lock. It began by not staying unlocked. When unlocked the door by (by any method), the lock would only stay unlocked for less than a second before relocking on its own. Now the problem has changed to where the door will not stay locked as in the problem door lock from last year. The door continues to try to lock each time the vehicle reaches the speed that the doors lock automatically.
My 2008 Honda crv in 2010 began having problems with the rear door lock and theny the hatch lock. When I put the rear door lock into child safety mode and took it off child safety mode, the door lock would not unlock. It kept locking and I would have to manually press down on the lock button in order to open the door from the outside. I took it to a Honda car dealership service dept. And was told it was the actuator and it happens often to Honda vehicles and it would cost me $380 to repair it even thought the part I was told was actually only $80 dollars. To me and to everyone else this has happened to, this is obviously a manufacturer's defect if it happens often to Honda vehicles. I refused the repair because it was very expensive. Later in a few weeks, my hatch would not unlock unless the defective rear door lock was also unlocked. Now, it is 2014 and as of Friday, 2/28/14, all my locks are now locking immediately after I used my automatic door unlock on my key fob. I can't even get into my car unless I'm quick about it before it locks on me again. Then when I want to get out of my car and the door unlocks, before I can even open the door to get out of my car, all the locks lock up again without my having done anything. This is a safety hazard for me and my family. The door locks are defective and Honda should take responsibility to fix these defects. Here is the link to arfc. . Read more...
