The contact owns a 2008 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle briefly lost motive power before returning to normal functionality. After restarting the vehicle, it returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related it to NHTSA campaign number 11v395000 (power train), but the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was 190,000.
A/c compressor in 2007-2011 Honda Cr-v has a known defect in the a/c compressor clutch. The clutch component of the compressor includes the pulley which turns the compressor motor. When the clutch fails, the compressor motor seizes up and stops the pulley from turning. The pulley on the compressor is driven by one serpentine belt on a tensioner which turns the alternator, the power steering motor, the crankshaft, the water pump, and the a/c compressor. When the a/c compressor seizes up, the belt will snap in two every time because the a/c pulley will not turn. The car will not be operable unless the a/c compressor is replaced. To replace the a/c compressor, the refrigerant must be vacuumed out, the condenser and desiccant replaced, the compressor replaced, the system recharged, and a new belt put on. This costs about $2500 at Honda or at another shop around $1700. Honda refused to fix the clutch when I took my car in after discovering the a/c was not working. I have replaced the compressor in this vehicle twice already, and now it needs a third replacement. It is a safety issue because the belt will break while driving causing power steering to go out, possibly causing a crash, the battery will not charge, leaving you stranded, the water pump will not function causing your engine to overheat, and possibly causing a blown head gasket or worse. This situation has occurred twice already but I’m reporting the latest one.
The contact owns a 2008 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated while driving 35 mph, the vehicle hesitated and failed to respond as needed while depressing the accelerator pedal. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure occurred intermittently while driving. The contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 11v395000 (power train) however, the VIN was not included. Additionally, the vehicle was bouncing abnormally while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where an alignment was performed; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
Honda body shop switched and stripped components/ parts of my vehicle when state farm adjustor wrote the repair assessment like it was in a high speed head on collision when it was actually a left side fender bender. That’s fraud… but nonetheless, state farm agreed to fix the car. It’s a Honda cr/v that has had the engine replaced now but it’s having drivetrain issues. It rattles and violently vibrates upon takeoff (automatic transmission) and when going uphill. It has electrical problems due to rodent chewing soy based electrical wires. I’ve replaced myself many components such as axle cv, electrical, fans, air conditioner, starters (3 in past two years) and basically had to rebuild the entire front end because the Honda body shop was using my car for a parts car. Curry Honda in chamblee GA. Honda has refused to acknowledge any issues. 2008 Honda Cr-v has drivetrain issues probably related to the software which Honda charges $150-200 every time just to clear a code. They don’t work with 3rd party parts providers and like apple, are monopolizing their car company making it unsafe to take your car anywhere but to a Honda dealer for things as simple as an oil change. They want you to get your battery and fluids there, refusing to share specs with anyone else. This should be illegal as apple recently has had lawsuits for trying to monopolize their screen replacement and repairs. Trying to get customers to only go to apple for repair, rendering your phone useless unless you pay apple again for repairs. Honda company is not customer focused, the dealers are out to make money off every single thing the car needs and their system is designed for no diyers to fix much at all.
Tl- the contact owns a 2008 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated that after parking the vehicle and shutting off the engine the vehicle erroneously rolled backwards making contact with the the person and knocking her to the ground. During the incident the tire rolled over the left foot causing a fracture of the foot. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the incident. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in the NHTSA campaign number 11v395000(power train). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the same failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 70,000. Jft.
There is a violent shaking feeling coming from the engine area along with a loud constant rattling sound coming from the same area. This happens when driving and when stationary. The dealership said it was a tensioner (?) arm and charged me $580. The sound persists and is worse when the air conditioner is running. Also the back seat passenger side lock makes a loud buzzing noise when locked or unlocked.
Car cut off no steering everything locked down had serpentine belt fixed but the tpm light is on app need rack and pinion as well. Need struts and shocks and car rattles terribly. It's about 4 thousand dollars I am disabled this is a safety hazard I don't know what I can do. Is Honda not responsible for defect.
Ac stopped blowing cold air. An inspection indicated the compressor had stopped working. Replacing this part would be extensive and costly, with no guarantees it would solve my ac problems. My vehicle was in park. Reports indicate a recall had been issued for this problm.
The contact owns a 2008 Honda Cr-v. While driving 35 mph, the vsa and check engine warning indicators illuminated and the vehicle violently jerked. The contact had to release the accelerator pedal or pull over, shift into park, and wait a couple of minutes before shifting back into drive in order for the jerking to stop. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing or repairs. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where a diagnostic testing was performed, but the contact was unaware of the failure codes. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.
2008 Honda crv with less than 67000 miles. Taken for inspection in March and was told the rack and pinion needs to be replaced. Starting to leak. Needs to be replaced within a couple of months. I never saw where it was leaking. Took it in to dealership and had rack and pinion replaced. They said it was bad, charged about $1000. 00.
The contact owns a 2008 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated that the gear shifter system was defective. While the vehicle was parked and unoccupied, the gear shifted out of park position. The vehicle rolled away and came to a stop against a sign. The contact was able to move the vehicle and placed the gear into park. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was repaired according to NHTSA campaign number: 11v395000 (power train), but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was not available.

I had driven the car from florida to NY with my dog. While travelling north on i95 I noticed some intermittent bucking, hard shifting, and going into neutral. It was intermittent so I assumed it was some anomaly. After stopping at my families residence in yonkers NY. I drove the car to riverdale to visit my mother. After leaving the nursing home I proceeded on the return trip to yonkers. I was northbound on the sprain parkway and exited at tuckahoe road. There is a full stop sign at the intersection. I was fully stopped looked both ways an inched out to make a right turn ( the visibility of oncoming traffic in the eastbound direction is limited because of an incline and the road has high traffic volume during the day) I am not certain if the car slipped back into neutral or the individual behind me failed to make a full stop. I was hit rather hard in the rear end. With or without the transmission concern the car behind me did not obey the stop sign. My car was towed to a collision and repair facility. When the technician was assessing damage he performed a road test and found the car hesitating and shifting in and out of gear. He checked the transmission fluids and found them to have a burning smell and be black. I had only had the transmission fluid flushed and changed in January. And prior to that less than 5 months earlier.
Vehicle shutters violently when accelerating between the speeds of 20mph through 50 mph. . .
My 2008 Honda Cr-v, purchased new by me, has an unwanted acceleration problem when braking. I filed a previous complaint with your office and never received a reply. I have contacted Honda regarding this problem and they stated I will be contacted by their representative. This is a serious safety problem and other owners have listed identical problems on the internet. This problem has occurred at least 6 times. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Passenger side door lock will not stay unlocked. Either manually unlocked or automatic such as when the transmission is put in park position. This causes a potential safety problem for any passenger sitting in the passenger location. They cannot conveniently exit the vehicle at any time.
Approx 17-20 mph car has difficulty getting to next gear, losses power. Very scary!.
I had just depressed my accelerator pedal to travel on the rt. 123 bridge in occoquan, va when the accelerator got stuck all the way down and my car accelerated from 30 mph to 80 mph in a 1/4 mile stretch. I slammed on my brakes and the accelerator kept on going and then I heard and felt a sound of the accelerator crunching and the car slowed down. I am really shaken and at hendrick Honda in woodbridge trying to determine if my car is safe or not to drive. I saw the five similar incidents in the database recorded since 2008, whereas people have been hurt and injured. I do not see a recall and wondering what it takes to get a recall on this serious and life threatening issue?.
The vehicles brakes are horrible, it the front rotors mostly, they deteriorate very quickly along with the high quality brake pads. I replaced the rotors at 70,000 and they are already getting damaged . There has been an unsettling vibration in the braking/steering system since we bought the car . I am convinced that Honda no longer makes quality vehicles and the sooner they stop making cars the better. At 25,000 miles we had the ac clutch start to slip on us while we were in about 120'f temps in bon our way to bullhead city. We arrived completely soaked in sweat and with the beginning stages of chapped lips from the hot air blowing from the ac. We had an air leak in the moon roof since we bought it, all Honda did was make us waste our time while the mickey moused the seal, on the way home from the dealers after they supposedly fixed it ,it started making the whistle again after I opened and closed it. I had grease prints all over the head liner from that experience. The leather arm rest started bubbling and peeling about a year after the purchase, it looks horrible . I have had better used cars then this. I have nothing to say about Honda except if you value your life and your families life and value what you buy with your hard earned money . Then don't ever ever buy a Honda. They deserve to go out of business and be sued by every person that ever bought from them .
Car is idling very rough, wants to stall out when stopped at a traffic light or stop sign. Transmission is jerky when starting up again after coming to a full stop.
