1 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 07/24/2019

Low beams do not remain on when high beams are activated, leaving poor visibility near the front of the vehicle.

2 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2019

This lighting of this vehicle is poor. The low beam lights seem adequate, but the hi-beam lights are not bright enough. Compared to other cars, the hi-beams are dim. Replacing the bulbs does not solve the problem, the new bulbs do not improve the lighting. . This defect is more apparent in rural settings, in areas where outside lighting is minimal/none. It can be dangerous where deer/wildife are common, as the reduced lighting limits reaction time. Searches on automotive forums reveal this problem seems common among 4th generation Honda crv's (2011-2016), as it seems it is mentioned on numerous forums and topic threads.

3 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 01/24/2017

The airbag/seat belt red restraint light will not go out. The no seat belt alarm does not go off. The doors do not lock when the car starts moving. The seat belt light on the dash does not come on, etc. Brought it to the dealer yesterday and they said the whole control panel has to be replaced first before they can even fix anything! something like a $400 part! said it is not covered and they are going to contact Honda about covering it! another safety issue! on a 2013 car with only 18,000 miles on it!.

4 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 09/03/2015

Very little night driving done and 6 mos. Spent in florida. Defective lights discovered sometime 2013. Can only see 20 feet of road at night without using high beams. Very dangerous driving. Dealer said specs. Ok and refused to do anything to correct. Called Honda and they recommended taking to another dealer stating they had no complaints. Several complaints on line.

5 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 11/02/2013

Hi beams are very ineffective and dangerous. They shine too high and light up the trees but not the road ahead. Live in a very rural area with many deer and this is of concern. If the dealer lowers the beam then that makes the low beams worse where they were ok. So adjusting the height of the hi beam is not the solution as it then makes the low beam too low. It's more a design flaw with the reflectors I believe. Only really noticed the issue once we changed daylight savings time and I started driving more at night on rural roads. Which now being winter is more and more common for me so it is a concern when having to use the hi beams.

6 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 10/08/2013

When I turned on bright lights while driving home on a dark country road, I could not see adequately. The road is absolutely dark in front of car, and the rather dim light is instead focused far ahead in the trees. The only alternative is to switch to dim lights which light road immediately in front of car (and are -brighter" than the "bright" lights), but do not light far enough ahead to be able to avoid hitting anything (like deer) entering the road in front. I've never had lights this bad on any vehicle I've ever owned. They are quite dangerous.

7 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 10/05/2013

When high beams are on, the low beams go off making it very difficult to see for 25 to 30 feet. If a child or a dog were to run in front of the auto I wouldn't have enough reaction time to avoid hitting them.

8 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 09/18/2013

I purchased this car in March 2013. I live in a very rural area with no street lights, etc. It is pitch black at night. Believe it or not, I have not driven this car after dark until just recently. When driving I could hardly see much in front of me at all. The low beams are most inadequate and the high beams are useless. The road if front of the car was barely lit up at all. It was a very scary situation, has never happened with any other car I have owned. I went around a curve and almost drove off the road. And it was a clear night, no rain, fog etc. I paid over $30000. 00 for this car and am afraid to drive it at night!! as safety concious as Honda is, I cannot believe that this situation is acceptable to them. It certainly isnt for me. Please, can you tell me if there is a solution to this problem ( changing bulbs, etc). I would appreciate any feedback to help resolve this dangerous situation. There really should be a recall for this safety issue. This is a terrible accident waiting to happen.

9 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 09/15/2013

Engaging the Honda Cr-v high-beams on a dark road drastically diminishes visibility immediately in front of the vehicle and out about 25 feet. While the high-beams illuminate street signs and tree tops a great distance ahead of the vehicle, close-in lighting is dangerously lacking making for unsafe driving conditions. When the high-beams go on, the low-beams go off and there is almost no illumination close in. . Read more...

10 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2013

The bright lights are aimed at tree tops and cant be adjusted. You cant see the road surface when lights are on high beam. Also need to have running light on when using low beams. Bad lights.

11 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 07/31/2013

When entering a highway on-ramp in making the turn all doors were suddenly unlocked and the front courtesy lights in the passenger compartment came on. This has now happened about 10 times when cornering.

12 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 06/06/2013

I purchased a new Honda 2013 crv. I did test drive the car during the day. I was very surprised that at night in order to drive safely I have to use my high beams 8 out of ten times. If I have the exterior lighting set to auto the high beams come on automatically. I have rarely if ever used the high beams on my older car that I traded in. Honda needs to fix the exterior lighting on the crv. I can not continually drive with my high beams on.
