general problems of the 2017 Honda CR-V

My vehicle was taken into automaster Honda, the dealership where I purchased it, on June 11, 2026, for the yearly required vt safety inspection and other minor service. I was told that due to rust holes near the rear trailing arms my vehicle would not pass a safety inspection. Publicly available information indicates that this condition can potentially cause a loss of control of the vehicle, and thus a crash, and presumably, potential loss of life!! there is no recall for this issue in this model year Honda, there is no fix, (even though there was a recall on 2007-2011 model year Hondas for the same issue) and my dealership is not able to recommend anyone who might be able to fix this problem. They can't fix it. According to the service manager at automaster, Honda canada has reportedly been issued a bulletin indicating that this 'problem' is neither a safety or structural issue but no such bulletin has been issued for Honda u. S. He advised me that my vehicle is safe to drive; however, I still cannot get an inspection sticker, without which I could receive a citation, and I am still troubled each time I get in this car. I don't think I could sell this car even if I wanted to because of this issue. The only entity who has inspected my vehicle is the dealership. There were no warning lights or messages and last year, supposedly conducting the same inspection, there was no indication of this problem or I was not informed of one at that time. I am going in July 16 for a necessary brake job, something also recommended on June 11 when I was advised of the trailing arm issue. I can't drive around with worn brakes. Photos attached are from June 11, taken with a technician's cell phone. When I go in on July 16, I will view the damage myself and take my own pictures. On June 11, the vehicle had already been taken off the lift and I could not see the damage myself that day. Thank you.

On 05/06/2026 the vehicle was in for service at the Honda dealership (the automaster, 3328 shelburne rd. Shelburne vt 05482). The inspection report notes "rust holes forming above rear trailing arms, non reparable area, will not pass future state inspection, recommend customer contact Honda of America @ 1-800-999-1009". They also provided a picture of the problem. I took the car to another garage and was informed that yes, this was a real issue and that the garage owner just spoke with someone who had a 2018 crv with the same problem. The Honda dealership sent me a recommendation letter that stated "***rear trailing arms (soon), *** state inspection.

Steering component locks up causing the vehicle to become slightly difficult to make turns and I get clicking sounds from steering column took vehicle to get fixed at independent service center they installed new rack and pinion plus other parts and with labor cost over four thousand dollars paper invoice available upon request I’ve owned Honda 2017 crv lx since 2017 which I bought new. Problem started in the beginning of may of 2024. No warming lights messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the start of problem.

Our crv has excessive uneven tire wear, at 17000 miles the tires were worn bald on the inner corners mainly on the rear of the car, the tires are approximately 7 inches wide and the inner 2 inches are bald , you cannot see this unless you bend down and look under the car from the rear , the outer corners wich you can see easily have sufficient tread wich can cause a serious saftey problem if s blowout occurs started a complaint with Honda and got nothing accomplished, they gave me a run around and blamed the tire manufacturer ,it simply an alignment problem that they refuse to adress.
