Honda crv in it’s first signs failed to start. Vehicle ignition would fail to function, there was no respond. I had to shut off for 15 minutes then tried initiating, it would start as if nothing happened. I thought this was due to a battery/electrical issue. At times I thought it would not turn on and I would be left stranded where I was. Second issues began with Honda crv not responding to gear changes, it would shake in the middle of the road, in between trips. I was praying this was not the transmission. Did have this repaired since I would regularly keep up it’s maintenance and no further damage was announced by dealership. In the scariest of events, Honda crv stopped in the middle of freeway! car began to shut off, would not advance further and completely lost power. I had to safely move to the side of the road, exiting freeway very frigthtened. Only warnings signs I had other than the unfortunate events mentioned above, where vehicle failed to operate. It was the last 2 or 3 times I took my vehicle for scheduled maintenance. I began to get information from service center about extremely costly repairs my Honda crv vehicle needed. There were no other lights, messages or warnings on vehicle dashboard. I automatically though the repairs recommended were an intent to charge me more than needed. I also did not have the amount of money required for the costly the repairs. I did receive a safety recall repair notice on or before behinning of 2024. Around January/February then again January 2025 regarding an “important safety recall. ” I do not know why parts had a “limited availability,” if this was “important safety recall” why then did this take so long to be properly attended? the letter does state that “safety consequences” of not repairing could cause engine issues. Prevent engine from starting, cause vehicle to loose drive power or stall while driving, increasing risk of crash or injury. Please help me with this issue. Thank you in advance for reading.
Subject: fuel pump recall remedy denied – ongoing safety risk I purchased a used Honda vehicle in December 2024, and shortly after, I learned it was under recall for the fuel pump. In January 2025, I took it to lia Honda for an oil change and to perform the recall. The dealership refused to do the recall, saying the fuel pump had already been replaced with an aftermarket part by a previous owner. However, the official Honda recall repair was never performed. On June 5, 2025, the car stalled on I-91 while I was accelerating, and all the dashboard lights and alarms came on. I was able to coast to safety. I took the car to autozone at 7:28 pm, where a scan confirmed a faulty fuel pump. The car would not start and had to be left at autozone temporarily. Later that night, I was able to start it and immediately brought it to lia Honda, leaving it overnight. On June 6, lia Honda returned the car to me and claimed the issue was unrelated to the fuel pump, giving me a vague diagnosis involving fuel system cleanliness. Despite the autozone scan, the known recall, and the dangerous highway stall, lia Honda refused to perform the recall or acknowledge the fuel pump as the problem. On June 13, the same issue occurred again while accelerating on I-91, this time with my family in the vehicle. The car stalled dangerously in traffic, again putting all of us at risk. I later contacted Honda customer support, and two representatives told me I was eligible for the recall repair. But when Honda USA followed up, I was informed they would not honor the recall or cover the repair, because the part had been replaced with a non-Honda pump by a previous owner. This is unacceptable. The recall remedy was never performed, and the part clearly failed again. Lia Honda’s refusal to acknowledge the fuel pump failure on June 6 prevented me from protecting my family’s safety, leading to a second highway incident that could have resulted in a crash I have all diagnosis and receipts in paper().
Honda has failed to provide the necessary parts to fix a safety recall on my vehicle. This recall is affecting my ability to renew my California dmv registration, as the state requires all safety recalls to be completed before renewal. I have contacted my local Honda dealership multiple times, and they have informed me that the parts are unavailable with no estimated repair date. This situation has put me in a difficult position where I cannot legally drive my vehicle due to expired registration, even though the issue is beyond my control. Honda has not provided an alternative solution, such as a loaner car or reimbursement for transportation costs. I request that NHTSA investigate this matter and urge Honda to resolve this issue immediately.
All lights on dash board on and would not cut off. We were told it was the battery that was bad. The battery in the vehicle was not a year old. We purchased the new battery and within a couple weeks it happened again with all of the lights on. This is a safety matter because this can cause problem with the heads to the motors or can just stop running. We took the car back to the dealer and then they said it maybe the fuel injectors. Now, we are paying for another maybe. This car is sending off different codes. No, one has inspected this car except the dealer. I was informed that if not inspected by Honda that it would not count. No, other symptoms before all lights on dash board just coming on. When the lights on dash board came on it was all light for all operations of the vehicle. We are not paying for fuel injectors to be replaced based on recommendation from Honda. We have several people we know that are currently having this problem with their crv. Please look into this expensive repair. My car is a 2018 with only 40,000 miles on it. This is not a car driven on a daily basis to work or anything. This is a safety matter as well due to it may just shut off while driving.
Fuel injector warning light has come on for the third cylinder. There has been absolutely no impact to gas mileage or overall car efficiency and yet I'm being told I need to replace all of my fuel injectors at a cost of $1,600 in order to clear this code (p219e). This code just started appearing right after I had my fuel pump replaced under warranty recall. I have to presume there is some link and this is not just a coincidence. But that cost for a part that is not even presenting as an issue in terms of overall car performance I don't understand. But without this correction other parts of the car (I. E remote start that I literally just had repaired at a cost of $500) will not work. Certainly seems as if that is linked together. One other issue is that remote start was linked to a hood issue. Evidently an electric connection that seems to zero out at the hood was not presenting. But it does not appear as an issue on the dashboard. The remote start simply stops working. In order to get it replaced it's a $500 new part with a new electronic connection, but no one seems to be able to explain what that electric connection is for or why it does never presents if that connection is not being made. It simply does not appear as an issue on the dashboard. The only awareness is that the remote start simply stops working.
The dealership replaced the fuel pump & now numerous dash lights are on. When the fuel pump gets replaced does the recall cover the fuel filter?.
Honda issued a safety recall in February 2024 for a possible inoperable fuel pump that may cause a vehicle to lose drive power, or stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash or injury. It is now December 2024 and replacement parts are still not available.
I first received notice of this recall about a year ago. I have been to the dealer 3 times to request the repair but have been told there are not enough parts to make the repair. On my last visit (7/2/2024) the dealership took my copy of the recall notice and told me they would call me when they had parts to make the repair. They also told me it would probably be 2 or 3 months before the part was available. It is now December 7, 2024 and still no contact from the dealership and no parts from Honda. Please help.
There is a fuel pump recall in my 2018 Honda crv , I call yesterday to dealer where I bought car from, I talk to the person in part department and he told me they have new fuel pump to replace he transfer me to service department to set up appointment and I did, when I went there today they told me we have part but not the tool to replace your fuel pump, which I believe is total [xxx] and gross discrimination by dealer, I mean million of dollar dealership don't have part to replace recall item. I urge NHTSA to take strong action against Honda automobile and the dealer, there may be million other like me. Dealer name Honda universe 1085 ocean Ave lakewood NJ 08701 information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Unknown my car wasn’t getting any gas stuck in traffic. Have complained to the dealership about the recall and the problem I was having I was given the run around about replacing the fuel pump.
Every warning light came on at the same time. Everything except the cruise control and lane assist works, eventhough the warning lights are on. There is nothing wrong when driving, the car accelerates fine, brakes work fine. Only the cruise control and lane assist are affected by all the warning lights. Took car to the Honda dealership and was told 2 of my fuel injectors are completely clogged, but I have to replace all 4 of them. Why would fuel injector issue cause every warning light to come on. My car gets great gas mileage (and has since I bought it brand new). Have read numerous forums with this same issue from 2017 Honda crv to 2023 crv's. Some have had their fuel injectors replaced and the problem comes back in a few weeks. If the fuel injectors aren't the issue, what exactly is making this happen and how do we know it won't cause the brakes and every other system to fail while driving down the street?.
Ref: NHTSA recall # 23v-858 recall of fuel pump received February 2024 and as of today (October 2024) replacement part(s) not available nor can the Honda dealer (Honda on grand, elmhurst, IL) advise or even give an estimate of when the parts will be available. I truly feel that Honda/mfg has been provided a "reasonable" amount of time to deal with and correct the situation. Vehicle has had no symptoms to date but tick tick tick - if/when symptoms do occur it may likely place occupants of the vehicle in a perilous situation.
I am writing to report noncompliance with the fuel pump recall for 2018 Honda crvs. I was unable to find a place to report such noncompliance, so I ask that you refer this complaint ot the appropriate enforcement unit of the NHTSA. Since the recall was announced last spring, I have on three occasions asked my Honda dealer/service provider (Honda of princeton) when my fuel pump will be replaced. Each time they have said that no fuel pumps are available and have added that there is not really a problem and that if my fuel pump malfunctions, they will replace it immediately --- which of course goes against the spirit of the recall, which is to avoid preventable accidents due to fuel-pump malfunctioning. They have been giving me later and later dates for a replacement fuel pump, and it appears that compliance with the NHTSA recall is in an ever receding future.
I talked to other people who has the same issue with me, bad head gasket , fuel injector an vsa module going bad, I'm having all 3 issues at the same time.
When you turn on the car, all warning lights come on, all error messages that can be displayed are displayed, and safety features become disabled. The systems resets after you turn the car on & off at least 5 times but the issue always reappears. Error codes p0172 & p219c have been detected during the issue. The dealer replaced the fuel injectors to remedy the issue.
All system failure lights are on , emission failure, brake system, brake, hold system, power steering, vehicle stability, hill start assist, adaptive cruise, collision mitigation, road dept, electric parking. These lights stay on for a few days then turn off. Was able to get to dealership to have codes read. Determined to be fuel injectors need replaced at cost of $1800.
American Honda sent me a letter notifying of recall for fuel pump issue in February of 2024 and a followup letter in may 2024. I called you on September 27, 2024 and was told to call american Honda. I called them that day and was told parts would probably be available in late October or early November. I called them again today and they transferred my call to a local Honda dealership (penske on 96th st in indianapolis). The dealer indicated they had trouble getting parts from Honda and to call back in a month. This issue has been know for nearly a year and Honda has done nothing.
There are actually two issues that are going on with this car. First off, on three separate occasions, while driving at 70 mph on the freeway in traffic, my car has braked for me and the collision warning went off. However, there was nobody in front of me. The person behind me almost rear ended my vehicle on the last occasion this has happened. Now, my car is undrivable. Three times, all my sensor lights went off. The first time, we changed the battery, thinking the battery was dying. The second time, we took it to affordable autobody in murrieta, CA. They ran a diagnostic and stated that we did not reset the computer when the battery was changed. The third time all the sensor lights went on, we took it to dch temecula, CA. They ran a diagnostic and said that it was the fuel injectors. Our mechanic stated that the fuel injectors are going bad due to a bad fuel pump. My car has been sitting at the dealership for more than a week, undrivable. We contacted claims department, but no action has been taken. Dch temecula states they have no available fuel pumps and will not fix the injectors unless the claims department orders it. I have left without a loaner car, stranded. Nobody seems to be taking this seriously and there is no time frame as to when this situation will be fixed. It is becoming a huge inconvenience not having a way to get to work. Please help!.
My 2018 crv 1. 5l turbo with 70,000 mi. I have replaced the turbocharger high pressure fuel pump, low pressure fuel pump twice ac compressor the radio display keeps changing by itself every warning light in the display has popped on several times all at once, all this within a 6-month period also car lost power when diving on highway.
While driving on the highway (freeway) vehicle stall , went to a suddenly almost complete stop, risking to be rear ended by the car behind us.
American Honda states they do not have parts to address my 2018 Honda crv lx fuel pump problem. Our local Honda dealer charlie's Honda augusta, maine does not have parts available to them, so they say. However, my mechanic was told by a number of Honda parts dealers that they do have the parts but are not allowed to sell them (illegal) to anyone but a Honda dealer. Also, charlie's Honda and lee Honda auburn, maine say they must charge me for $150 for an engine diagnostic before they will look at my vehicle. So, I had my mechanic install a delphi 2270n fuel pump assembly for $700. This recall has been open since December 2023, winter is coming and I want a safe vehicle to drive. I feel that Honda has engaged in deceptive practices and has become another boeing. I would like to recoup any monies that I can from Honda for this repair since american Honda and charlie's Honda have proven to be less than cooperative. Also, american Honda will not remove the recall against my vehicle without paying for a $150 engine diagnostic fee at charlie's Honda after my car has been fixed and is running well. I think NHTSA needs to allow non-dealer mechanics to do repair work on recalls, charged back to the recalled vehicle manufacturer and the auto companies need to make sure the non-dealer mechanics have access to repair parts. I have contacted american Honda and Honda motor CO. - japan.
Charlie's Honda (augusta, maine) and lee Honda (auburn, maine) have told me that they require an upfront diagnostic fee of $150 in order to put my car in line for a new fuel pump motor, which they don't have. Why should I pay a penny for a recall problem that Honda created using substandard materials in my 2018 Honda crv lx. I had the fuel pump replaced by my mechanic richard beaulieu of beaulieu's upright auto repair, augusta, maine 04330. He tried to purchase the fuel pump motor from Honda parts distributors, which he was told they have in stock but can't sell them to anyone except a Honda dealership. So, we had to settle for an after market delphi p/n 2270n fuel pump assembly $709. 99. All I want is for Honda to cover the new fuel pump cost, for a problem they created. Honda USA called me today that unless I visit a Honda dealership and pay their diagnostic fee that they will not clear the recall flag on my vehicle. Talk about highway robbery! I have an open NHTSA complaint number #11609831. I trust my mechanic for diagnostics more then Honda's. Why issue these safety recalls if it's only a money grab for the dealerships? winter is approaching and I don't want to be left stranded side of the road with Honda's defective fuel pump. My car is running fine, actually better as it idles more smoothly and has better acceleration.
Since my Honda dealership (charlie's motor mall) has no recall parts and doesn't know when they will get them, I had our mechanic order the part from Honda to replace the recalled part. No Honda dealership or parts distributor are allowed to sell this part. So, I have asked our mechanic to install an after-market fuel pump instead. Honda sounds like they are breaking the law. How can they order another business that has the parts in stock not to sell them? winter is approaching and all I want it is a safe vehicle to drive. Our local Honda dealerships (charlie's motor mall and lee Honda) state there is nothing they can do without doing a $150 diagnostic on my engine. Shouldn't this work be covered by the recall? this sounds very dangerous to have an identified vehicle problem and not having it fixed ASAP. So, I am having the new after market fuel pump installed and will be forwarding the bill to Honda for reimbursement. Honda needs a trip to the woodshed!.
Fuel injections failed on 65,000 mile 2018 Honda crv. They had been cleaned recently and followed all Honda recommended maintenance. This failure has been repeatedly reported as it's impact 2015-2018 Honda crv owners. This should be covered and recalled.
Vehicle started to run erratically as I was merging onto highway and all the dashboard lights were illuminated. Vehicle would not accelerate past 25 mph. Pulled over and turned car off and back on. Was able to accelerate and go a few more miles before car decelerated from 65 to 25. Got off highway and drove vehicle back home. It did it one more time, while on a back road. Took it to mechanic and diagnosis was two failed fuel injectors. Vehicle is less than 6 years old and has 95,000 miles on it.
Issue: car loses power while driving. Event: started car, drove down a hill about 1. 5 miles. Tried to accelerate, lost all power, cel started blinking. Limped car to safe location but could not accelerate over 5 mph. Next start, all vehicle warning lights flashing on dashboard. Code reader threw a p0310, p0300 (engine misfire). Problem reproduced/confirmed by independent service center. Preliminary diagnostics (swapped ignition coils and spark plugs 1&2 to 3&4, reinspected, misfires still on 1&2) suggesting possible fuel injector faults. Recommended working with Honda directly for further diagnostics because fuel injectors are replaced as an assembly and often require programming by a dealer, also problem seems similar to recall issue. Concern: vehicle has 42,000 miles; fuel injectors should not fail at this mileage. Received a Honda safety recall letter in February 2024 NHTSA recall number: 23v-858/Honda campaign number kgc. Called Honda after unsafe driving event (loss of power while driving). Honda stated that the recall for my VIN was rescinded. However, the problem seems very likely related to this recall.
All warning lights in vehicle come on. Says car engine is hot but it is not. None of the power systems work. Nothing is wrong with the vehicle. Buying top tier gas fixes the problem.
I have received a recall on my car last year, and I called multiple dealership to see if they have any parts available, then said they don’t have any parts. So I have to wait for the Honda letter to be notified that if the parts are available. But now I am experiencing engine hesitation recently and I am very worried about it becomes a safety issue, so I called Honda of seattle and lynwood Honda again and told them this problem, but they still keep saying that they don’t have the parts and they can’t do anything for me.
While driving on highway , I attempted to accelerate to pass , as I did all warning lights came on and I lost ability to accelerate. The car went into “limp mode “ . Took it to local mechanic, the to Honda dealer . I was told I need a new engine , at a cost of over $16k .
The component that seems to be failing is the fuel pump impeller per recall notice symptoms description. Our vehicle is demonstrating the following symptoms: 1. Loss of drive power (when going down hill), 2. Engine hesitation while driving, 3. Illuminated check engine light (all warning lights go on and cycle through). We had the vehicle to the dealership. Even before inspection we were told that these symptoms were not related to the recall notice and were told we would have to pay a diagnostic fee of $189 as per above, the check engine light does go on but so do all the other warning lights (?!). According to our invoice we paid $189. 00 to have the warning lights fixed (but 5 days later they were all on once again).
I have received a recall notice related to the fuel pump (NHTSA #23v-858) and have been advised by Honda again today that the part required is still on back order until 2025. Is this vehicle safe to drive? if not, what remedy is available to me? it has been more than 60 days since I first inquired about the part.
This car has not been in an accident and has been routinely maintained in accordance with Honda's recommended maintenance schedule. I went to turn on the car one day - nothing abnormal had happened - and I noticed that multiple (5+) warning lamps illuminated upon starting the car, including for the awd system, power steering system, stability assist system, parking brake system, adaptive cruise control system, and others. This was on or around 1 June 2024; the car had approximately 25,000 miles on it at this time. The car appeared to drive normally. I took this to a dealership, which stated that their diagnostic computer had identified the fuel injectors on cylinders 2 and 3 as malfunctioning and running rich. I incurred approximately $2400 in replacement and repair costs at the dealership. My safety was not put at risk to my knowledge. The problem was reproduced and confirmed by a dealer. The vehicle and components were inspected by the dealership when diagnosing the problem; there were no manufacturer, police, or insurance representative inspections. The warning lamps were illuminated as above on approximately 1 June 2024.
With this report I am trying to prevent an incident from happening. I received the Honda recall notice dated may 2024 for my 2018 Cr-v regarding an improperly molded impeller within the fuel pump module. Notice stated "an inoperable fuel pump could prevent an engine from starting, cause a vehicle to lose drive power, or stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash or injury". I contacted my dealer and was told there literally were no replacement parts anywhere in the united states and none would be available until sometime in the fall. However, if the vehicle should become inoperable (possibly while actually driving it) an order for the part could be requested. Is there any way Honda can be compelled to expedite this process? this is our only vehicle and we frequently need to drive on the very crowded interstate near the phoenix area. We are hesitant to drive a vehicle we've been told by the dealer has an "increasing risk of a crash or injury".
Tried calling the advertised number on your website: 1 888 327 4236 for online complaints but its rings and stops. I have been receiving letters from Honda for a couple of months for a safety recall pertaining o fuel pump. In this period, I took my vehicle (February 5, 2024) for major servicing and my vehicle was not serviced for recall quoting "unavailability of spare parts". This month (may 3, 2024) specifically scheduled my vehicle for safety recall servicing. Got a call from the dealer again stating "unavailability of spare parts" and that they will call me. I have received a recall notice from Honda again yesterday. In effect, they are complying with NHTSA recall, however not servicing vehicles on the ground for no fault of the consumer. Given the seriousness of the problem, I fear my vehicle might just stall one day.
On my 2018 Honda Cr-v ex noticed car almost stalling when stepping on accelerator. Took vehicle to dealership and was told it was the fuel injectors failing. The dealership said it is the exact same fuel injectors that are on the 2018 Honda accord that are part of a recall due to safety concerns but that Honda has not issued a recall for the Cr-v, even though it has the exact same fuel injectors as the accord. They were no warning lamps or messages. The cost to repair this issue was $1,273. 57 to repair the fuel injectors, which I paid directly to the dealership.
