Electrical system problem //I am writing to formally raise a complaint regarding a recurring and serious issue with my 2019 Honda Cr-v. Multiple dashboard warning lights turn on simultaneously without clear explanation. These lights are extremely distracting while driving and present a significant safety concern. What’s even more troubling is that we have no idea why these lights are coming on. This uncertainty puts us in a dangerous situation—driving without knowing whether the vehicle might stall, break down, or suffer another critical failure at any moment. Given that this appears to be a common issue among other Cr-v owners, I strongly believe that Honda should take responsibility. At the very least, owners should be provided one free diagnostic service at an authorized dealership to determine the cause—especially if it’s related to a manufacturing or system defect. The stress and anxiety this has caused are considerable. In fact, the distraction caused by these lights nearly led to an accident. I hope NHTSA will take this matter seriously and offer support to affected customers before someone gets seriously hurt.
I have 2 issues with my car - the first one has been ongoing and I should have reported it sooner - when using cruise my car will sometimes brake for no reason, it's as if the car sees something that's not there. The second one just occurred and has only happened once. I was driving on the highway using cruise and I got a message on the dash that said something like cruise control disengaged - the cruise turned off and the gas pedal didn't work so I had to coast to the shoulder. Luckily, I didn't have to cross any lanes of traffic or it could have been extremely dangerous. I plan to contact the dealer as soon as I am done with this submission. I wanted to be able to tell them that I had notified the NHTSA.
The front windshield on my vehicle was cracked on four different occassions. Three times when a small stone/gravel hit the winshield while driving. And once while parked outside. My safety was at risk because while driving I was startled when the object hit the windshield and I immediately focused my eyes on the damage when my attention should have been keeping my eyes on the road at all times. Each time I filed a claim with my insurance company. In my opinion I believe the glass does not meet or nearly meet industry standards. Further, I'm retired and do not drive my vehicle every day or long distances. Also, the cracked windshields were replaced with Honda windshields. Finally, I fail to believe I am that unlucky to have had my windshield replaced four times within six years.
Without warning, my 2019 Honda crv has repeatedly gone into limp mode, basically, immediately reducing speed to approximately 7 miles per hour. When this occurs, dash is lit up with numerous warning lights. My vehicle requires towing. This has occurred 4 times since may 20th, 2024. The reading has been consistent each time I have had it repaired; cylinder 3 misfire. I have taken my vehicle 3 times to a local mechanic and clawson Honda, a dealer, the last time;July 29th. There is no warning this will occur. The safety issues are obvious. With the vehicle abruptly, basically, stopping, not only are passengers and drivers in my vehicle in eminent danger, but other drivers who may be trailing behind. I have had extensive conversations with Honda representatives. My vehicle was part of a recall soon after we purchased it. The recall information indicated a software issue that was identified as the same problem that is now happening with our vehicle. I believe there is a potential high risk issue with Honda software. There are numerous makes and models, according to my research, that have been recently recalled for similar issues. As per following questions; this occurred four times: may 20, 2024 October 4, 2024 January 1, 2025 July 29, 2025.
My 2019 Honda crv has been in and out of shops since April 1st. On April 1st lights popped on on my dashboard the lights were break system lights. All wheel drive system lights, and then the lane keep assist adaptive cruise ect were on and not operational. I looked up what could cause that to happen and it stated rear differential fluid could pop lights on. I took it to the dealership and stated it felt like it was running funny but the lights all went off before I got there but if they could do the rear diff fluid and run diagnostic just to be safe that'd be great. Diagnostic found nothing wrong g with my vehicle. A few days later the same lights came on and then multiple other lights came on, my boyfriend stated it could be electrical maybe spark plugs so we bought them and replaced them. Restarted the car and drove it they went off but then came back on next morning. Next solution was maybe my battery has gone bad. Bought a new battery in hopes it'd work and no luck. We pull out our code reader and it pulls a code for cam shaft position sensors so we purchase those and replace them and still no luck. I finally take it to a repair shop since there's nothing else we can do on our own to fix the issue and the repair shop has a hard time trying to diagnose the issue. They ran codes and tests trying to figure this out they checked the mechanical side of things since the dealership only checked electrical side of things and found that my car had debris in the oil. They began researching and finding the Hondas in my year and make and model with the 1. 5 turbo engines have a class action lawsuit due to oil dilution and after more digging they found that I did indeed suffer from this and would need an engine replacement due to the damage that has been done and that would be around 10k. Honda knowing sold me a vehicle that could have an issue like this. I bought the car used and kept up on all maintenance and now am having my car repossessed because I cant afford the repa.
The driver sideview mirror shakes constantly and cannot be tightened. It has been doing this since new. And has gotten worse. It does it at all speeds.
I would like to file a claim for defective paint. The obsidian blue pearl paint on my vehicle is defective, and most significantly is peeling off, diminishing the value and exposing the vehicle to conditions that will cause rust. Honda has issued extended warranties for defective paint, but my vehicle does not fall under one of the already issues extended warranties. I was told to file a complaint with you.
I am writing a complaint for 2019 Honda Cr-v. While I am aware of the fuel pump recall for this model, what is not recalled and needs to be are the multiple dashboard lights that turn on and remain lit that many owners of this model and several years earlier have not been able to find solutions for. The lights turn on regardless of having a new battery. 2017-2019 Honda crv owners have not been able to get a clear answer from dealers, and only have been told by Honda to "go to a dealer" who is not able to give a solution. Some have reported that the issue is poor fuel inspectors that needs to be replaced. Finding answers to this is costly after already investing in a vehicle that we trusted would be safe. The multiple dashboard lights are distracting and a safety hazard, and the fact that we do not know the reason they are turning on puts us in a position of driving on the road without knowing if our vehicle will stall, break down, etc. My personal vehicle has been inspected. I am requesting, at minimum, that if a recall cannot be issued, then owners be provided at least one free diagnostic service at a Honda dealer to address an issue that was the responsibility of the vehicle maker.
My wife was driving the Honda crv (61k miles, 2019) through a parking lot when suddenly all kinds of buzzers and warning lights came on. There was no warning anything was wrong before this. All of the driver assist features read failures, none of the gauges worked, all of the dash was lit up like a christmas tree. Sufficed to say this freaked my wife out. She was in a parking lot, she's very anxious and this nearly caused an accident in the lot. There was no visible loss of power, but if we were on the freeway? terrible accident! we've heard of other people having the same issue from crv forums. Anyway, we took it to two different places to get the codes checked, and the codes were p0172 (fuel system too rich) and u0401-68 (ecm failure). We then went to a mechanics shop who diagnosed the problem but said they couldn't touch anything until the ecm was fixed by a dealer. We went to Honda west in las vegas, nv (w sahara location), but they said there was no issue with the ecm. In fact, they said that "it's normal for everything to shut off like that when one system goes wrong or bad. " well, the problem is my wife suffers from occasional anxiety and panic attacks, but can drive normally. We've had a check engine light come on before and we've handled it. But the whole dash lighting up for 1 or 2 issues? a potential loss of power, skid control, driver assist features, all out the window because of two codes? by the way, the dealer said nothing was wrong with the ecm. Then why did a code populate for it? this needs to be fixed. The fact that I'm out $200 for a diagnostic fee, to be told that the issue is the fuel injectors (lines up with p0172 code) is fine, but why is everything lighting up like that? it's dangerous, and it's also a known issue. They need to recall their fuel injectors on their crvs. I only found out after I bought one. The ecm also clearly needs to be fixed. Now, again, they're making money from misery.
Car automatically brakes when there is no obstacles and sometimes no other vehicles in roadway. Most of the time when approaching a bridge. Usually travelling at speeds above 50. Hasn't been inspected by dealer. This increases risk of rear end collision. The light saying to brake comes on prior to the brakes engaging. This has happened multiple times during ownership of this vehicle (purchased new). Most recent incident was within the last month or so. There is no indication of the cause. There are multiple other issues with this vehicle to include issues with the display screen, door seals, and poor interior, however those do not appear to cause issues of safety at this time.
Service advisor recommended replacement of differential assembly indicating that there is fluid leaking.
Unknown , rubber seal in the sunroof ripped when I opened it, causing it to make little holes, after the car has sat in dealership lot for a while. I bought the car used so that is the reason the sunroof has not been opened for a long time as it was just in the dealership lot. This could possibly cause water to leak inside of the car.
??????????.
We pulled into a restraunt on 7/7/24 and as we were parking the car my wife started to put on the brakes. The car accelerated and ran over the curb in front of the car. There was no damage to the car that I could see. She has been driving this car since 2019 with no problem. I thought maybe she stepped on the gas instead but she said no. There were no floor mats on top of the gas pedal so it must be something with the car. I read on the internet of other people having the same problem. I hope we can get this repaired ASAP.
I was driving on [xxx] in danvers and they grooved the highway for resurfacing. I was doing the speed limit 65mph. When I hit the lip of the road where it returned to normal I heard a sound like something hit my cars glass. I got home and inspected my vehicle and saw no chips or dents. The next night at 5pm I was getting in my car and noticed my moonroof was cracked and damaged. I didn't see anything fly at me . I'm lead to believe when I hit the 2 inch lip my cars body twisted and popped that moonroof. I keep the slider closed or the glass would have rained down on me . I hear they don't use the proper glass on them. The new one says tempered. Just thought I'd share with you information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Hello I have been so upset with Honda. I’ve owned many Hondas and other cars in my past and never had any problems. I would tell anyone to buy a Honda until now. My daughter has been driving my car and she said it smelled bad and all the lights kept coming on. We took it to a mechanic and at that time they didn’t really see anything wrong with it. My daughter kept driving it and we found out about the recall and called to have that fixed and they said they don’t have the part and they don’t know when they will get it. Well that was upsetting because we felt that was an issue with the car and we didn’t understand why they couldn’t just order the part give us something else to drive until they got it in but no such luck. The last time I talked to Honda in marion, ohio they said I didn’t need the part but clearly that is wrong. Well the part I’m the most upset about is my daughter could have died driving down the road and all the lights came on in the vehicle and it would not drive while she’s out in the middle of nowhere scared half to death. We get the vehicle to Honda and they say it’s the fuel injectors. I’m like no one’s fuel injectors go out. Well I look it up and it’s a huge problem for Honda and they just don’t want to pay to have them replaced. It has cost me $2000 and had to get another car to drive and my Honda still isn’t driving very good and still no recall fixed. This is wrong! I am very disappointed in Honda and shocked. What can I do about this situation?.
The infotainment screen starts glitching out on extended trips. It constantly beeps and flashes on the screen as of a button is being pressed. It also will not allow you to turn the system off to remove the distraction. This happened on a trip to chattanooga in July 2022 and was 'fixed' with a software update. It happened again on 4/14/2024.
Air conditioner start to blow warm air while parked I noticed the recall the dealer rick case wanted $1500 just to fix it if the seal was not it, but seeing all the same issues coming up with other owners makes me wonder if the dealer even though they know what’s wrong still they want to upcharge clients.
A loud pop like a gunshot went off which was the sound of the moonroof spontaneously shattering while driving. If this had been open then the shattered glass could have rained down on driver and passengers causing injury and/or wreck due to sharp pieces of glass.
I was driving down a road with no traffic when the sunroof shattered. I pulled over and there was a hole in the middle and it was completely cracked. No damage to any other component of the sunroof just the glass. There was nothing that impacted or fell on the sunroof. There was no prior damage to the sunroof or surrounding area. The sunroof was closed not in use at time of incident. Dealership could not find a reason for the damage but did say they had someone else go in for a sun roof randomly exploding as well.
Bought 2019 Honda crv in August 2023. If you unlock by fob and then hit and hold unlock within 30 seconds all windows open. I parked crv last 2 snowstorms last spring, did not realize that fob(in pants pocket inside house) had opened all windows and car filled with snow, 2 other times seats were drenched from rain. Besides buying 2 more fobs initially, now had to spend another $120 for a chipped non fob key. Besides weather, this can allow animals or thieves easy access without your knowledge. 2020 and newer Hondas they added a disable function in vehicle menu. Honda needs to be forced to do a recall to fix this, have been told other manufacturers also do this idiocy, what are they thinking of??.
Multiple codes are showing up while driving. The car has been at a local Honda dealership for over 3 months while waiting on a part associated with an open recall for fuel pump. The dealership cannot determine the root cause of the codes.
Rear doors will not open when getting out or opening. I changed batteries in key fob, but didn't help. 12/27/23 all lights on dash went black and stayed off for about 5 miles. I've had the brakes stop me and I was thrown forward hard. My main worry is if my electrical system goes out while driving, will my car lock up and cause an accident?.
After waiting in car, dash board went crazy with all warning lights scrolling. Two dealers refused to take car because the dash stopped. This happened 3 times. Third time, autozone x2 and firestone, independent of one another said computer issue and that a code for rich fuel was coming up. On sixth check, mechanic private used code reader after check engine light came on. Dash went berserk twice. They refused to touch vehicle stating it’s electrical. Took it to dealer who kept car for five weeks. ‘can’t get an active code. We can start with fuel injectors’. ‘maybe’ that will stop dash board issue. Now, five days after this diagnosis, dealer states that the tech did find drop in voltage happening intermittently. When I asked why I was not told this originally - he cited mis communication. Car runs great. No repairs done yet as no one knows what to do. 114,000 miles. Highway. I am on several forums and this is not an isolated issue. Help please.
Two issues are going on and have been going on since I have had the vehicle: 1. The car will spontaneously brake hard when going down the road with no particular reason. It most frequently happens on the highway and it happens sporadically so it is difficult to replicate. I see it often but not all the time when crossing under an overpass or going off on an exit. The amount of brake use varies as well, sometimes just a tap and sometimes quite significant, losing 20-30 mph in seconds. 2. The infotainment system goes on the blink. Often starts with the brightness setting flashing up on the screen when nothing has been touched. Then it will go away, then brightness will blink back up, then the whole screen is useless / frozen or just disappears all together. I have a few videos of this. The only way to get it to work again is by stopping the car, turning it off and restarting it. This obviously is not possible at certain times and can be really difficult to deal with when going through a big city and relying on the map to help you navigate both roads and traffic (like when it happened on the george washington bridge in nyc).
While driving the SUV and series of warning lights started going off all at the same time. I took the SUV to Honda dealership and they ran diagnostics and said that all six fuel injectors needed to be replaced. Said it was a common problem they we seeing in this make and model of SUV. The faulty fuel injectors was causing fuel pressure problems which sets off all the warning lights is how it was explained to me. Due to the widespread problem with the fuel injectors there was a backlog and wait time of 6 months to order new fuel injectors and replace them. I am just outside of the warranty for the SUV and I went through Honda for goodwill assistance. Honda said I was a good candidate to receive because of the low mileage. After many weeks they denied my goodwill assistance request and Honda stated they only do recalls when NHTSA requires them to do a recall. Please look into faulty fuel injectors because when all the warning lights come on then I loose some of the safety features that come with this SUV. I will be more than willing to provide any other information to prove there's a known and widespread problem with this SUV's fuel injectors. I respectfully request it's investigated and Honda is required to do a recall. Thank you. There are 11 warning lights that come on, I have provided pictures of a few but listed here are all of them: electric parking brake problem, tire pressure monitor problem, emissions system problem, brake system problem, brake hold system problem, power steering system (eps) problem, vehicle stability assist (vsa) problem, hill start assist problem, adaptive cruise control problem, collision mitigation system problem, road departure mitigation system problem.
As I drive the car slows down by itself without me pressing the brakes and no other car in front of me.
Crv 2019, 37000 miles odometer. Battery and starter cable replaced but then later all dash board ligth are on an d break ligths blinking. Honda said it’s the fuel injectors and released it says it’s ok to drive.
I took the car to get serviced 3 times because the battery was being drained and it left me stranded on the side of the road . I had to look up the technical service bulletin myself before the dealership would update the software on the car. It should have been recalled back in 2019 when they knew about the problem. It left my elderly mother stranded 3 times and it took me having to figure it out myself to fix the problem. The problem was the peristaltic drain on the battery when you set the parking brake after turning the car off which caused the car to not start.
Ac not working compressor or condenser not working after only 39 months.
The sunroof exploded while driving on the highway. I was traveling about 60-65 miles per hour. Luckily the slide was closed otherwise glass would have showered down upon the driver and passenger. I took the vehicle into the dealership. They inspected and sent the quote to my insurance claims adjuster so payment could be issued for the repairs. There was no warning signs or messages prior to it exploding.
While driving onto a highway, 55 degrees and partly sunny out, approaching the on ramp to 95, we heard a loud pop like a gunshot out of no where and then we were covered in shattered glass from the sunroof. Glass everywhere, all over the driver, passenger and 3 children in the back seat. No other vehicles, trucks or over pass near by and nothing hit the car. After making it home with a tarp on the car, I brought it to the local Honda dealership. Honda does not see this as an issue with their sunroof and will not cover the glass or the cost. They said this never happens and it would not just “shatter” by itself.
The power to the car can be turned off while the transmission is in drive. I believe that the power button should only work when the car is in park. When the car was pulled into a driveway and still in drive, the car was turned off accidentally without shifting to park. The driveway is on a slight decline so after the car was left on its own it started rolling down the incline into the street. I have not reported this to a dealer as I wasn't sure where to report it.
Vehicle purchased 1/2020. Nov 2020 car had issues with the center screen going black. Had to pull over several times and to restart the car to get it to come back on. The round start button was flashing red when the vehicle was off, also the auto brake light has come on several times and there is no obstruction anywhere. Brought to dealer and they did a software update. Mileage was 12,936. 5/16/22 dead battery twice. Had aaa come to jump the vehicle. Took to local dealer mileage 29,641 battery test failed. Replace battery under warranty. Had to leave the car all afternoon. 2/27/23 car ran for 20 min, went to move it 2 hrs later battery was dead. Had aaa come and jump it to get it to the dealer. It was going to snow for the rest of the day and we needed to get the car moved in the carport to get to our snow blower. Service closed at 5 pm. They said I could bring it and leave it in the lot for the next day. I brought it myself the next day after driving the car for an hr and starting it several times in the night. Battery replaced under extended warranty plan. Mileage 31,396 was told by dealer to keep a charger on it if it was not going to be driven for more than a day. Seems to be some kind of electrical problem drawing the power down. Two batteries on a SUV with this mileage is not normal.
2019 Honda Cr-v, the info-tainment panel for the radio, a/c, etc, goes dark randomly and returns randomly. There is no pattern, sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. The rear camera is also affected if the car is in reverse. Have had the car about 4 years and started doing this two weeks ago. Thank you.
