1 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/03/2025

2020 Honda Cr-v exl would not start past week on two days (12/01/2025 and 12/03/2025). Auto mechanic (c&k auto clinic) has the following assessment: check for key off draw. Found slightly excessive battery drain ranging from 75 milliamps to 150 milliamps. Found back up fuse #18 to be circuit causing draw. Will need additional time to continue tracing back up fuse circuit. Replace faulty battery.

2 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/26/2025

The contact owns a 2020 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated that the vehicle was parked next to the home and under the carport. After starting the engine, the husband exited the vehicle, and moments later, flames were present inside the cabin of the vehicle. The fire department was called to the home and extinguished the flames. During the incident, the carport and carport driveway were damaged, the side of the home was damaged, and the home endured smoke inhalation. Also, the contact's personal oxygen tank was located inside the vehicle and was destroyed. The cause of the fire was not determined. A fire report was taken at the scene. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 127,000.

3 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/24/2025

Driving at approx 45mph local road and suddenly the all warning lights (brake, check engine, hill descent, etc) started flashing. The car started to slow down and I immediately pulled over and turned the car off. Drove to local Honda dealership and they stated it was faulty fuel injector. 2020 Honda crv @96k miles.

4 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/08/2025

Recently ([xxx]) my wife was left stranded away from home when our 2020 Cr-v started but would not go into any gear and had multiple warning messages about system failures including brake system problem (no working brakes), electric parking brake problem, tire pressure monitor problem, transmission system problem and auto engine idle stop system problem. If she had removed the [xxx] that cut the wires while driving the brakes would have stopped working. She had to call for a tow truck to take her to the Honda dealer. The Honda technician found that wires running under the rear view mirror had been cut by the [xxx] she uses causing a short and a malfunction of the computer system. The repair cost was $2451. This is an obvious design flaw by Honda. My wife is a [xxx] and all [xxx] are designed to hang over the rear view mirror. Honda should not have left exposed wires there under the rearview mirror, they should have been enclosed and protected. Anyone using a [xxx] is at risk of cutting these wires which makes the vehicle undriveable. [xxx] people are most at risk of being stranded. Anyone with a 2020 Honda Cr-v and using a [xxx] should be warned about this problem immediately. Our vehicle was repaired at Honda of stevens creek in san jose CA and the repair bill was $2451. The technician even did a video showing how the [xxx] cut the wire. We request that Honda reimburse us for our repair cost of $2451 and for Honda to fix this issue before more [xxx] people are left stranded.

5 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/21/2025

While driving my 2020 Honda crv hybrid the check engine light came on and my speed reduced to 30mph on the highway. This first happened 5/31/2024 and I had it towed to Honda and Honda could not find the problem. I was told to bring it back in if it happened again. I asked Honda to report to their corporate representative because it was a dangerous issue, and was told we should not at this time. Then on 3/21/2025 less than a year later this occurred again and I bought it back to Honda and I am waiting for Honda to tell me what the issue is. This is a safety issue that has happened to other Honda hybrids not just to mine. Please help me on this matter they don’t seem to be able to know what the problem is and this is quite a safety concern.

6 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2024

Failed fuel injections issue caused the electrical system to crash.

7 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/28/2024

- I own a 2020 Cr-v hybrid lx with a continuously variable transmission that has been experiencing persistent engine problems over the past few months. I have taken the vehicle to two Honda dealership service centers, but neither location has been able to identify the root cause of the issue. Currently, the car is with a Honda dealership mechanic for further inspection. I am seeking assistance in resolving this matter as the issue remains unresolved despite multiple attempts. -the engine problem initially occurred while I was driving, causing the car to slow down unexpectedly. Most recently, the issue occurred when I started the vehicle. - the issue has been reproduced and confirmed by both Honda dealerships I visited; however, neither dealership has been able to determine the root cause. They have run several diagnostics and even cleaned out the fuel tank, but the problem persists. - both Honda dealerships informed me that they brought in a manufacturing engineer and technician to conduct further testing. They recommended flushing the fuel tank and fuel line and replacing the spark plugs; however, the engine problem remains unresolved. I reached out to Honda headquarters about this issue, and they advised me to follow up after hearing back from the technician and engineer. However, I have not received any response since following up. - there were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms prior to the engine issue. The warning messages and lights only appeared once the engine began to fail. The problem first started back in June. At that time, the car was not due for any maintenance and had no prior major issues.

8 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/15/2024

The center display consul keeps changing the display. About 6 months ago it appeared to look like water was in the display. By the time I got to the dealer the screen was clear. I was told to take a picture if it happened again. I had approximately 26,000 miles on the car at the time. About a month later the screen went totally dark. I shut off the car and it restarted with a clear screen. About a month after that it went dark again. Restarting the car did not fix the problem but youtube suggested a restart, which did fix the problem. Nox the a odometer will not reset. The reset option via the stalk or the dashboard computer option will fix the problem. Also, the text voice volume control will not operate. The car now has approximately 30,000 miles on it. I am going to the dealer tomorrow. This problem should not exist in a 4 year old car with 30,000 miles which I purchase new and have maintained meticulously.

9 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/10/2024

The part that failed is called the "electronic servo pedal simulator unit", aka "set, bos assm. " aka "brake pedal simulator (simulator set, pedal feel)" aka "brake pedal operating simulator". The Honda (oem) part number is 01469-tpg-a95. The part failure was diagnosed at buckeye Honda in lancaster, ohio, in coordination with the tech department at Honda corp. , and was replaced at buckeye Honda in lancaster, ohio. The buckeye Honda (service department) said that they had not seen this problem before, so they contacted the tech dept. At Honda to seek assistance in the diagnosis. The safety of the vehicle occupants was put at risk by the almost complete loss of brake functions and the interacting functions. At first the brake warning and avs warning lights would illuminate on the driver's display, and then they would go off and everything would function normally. But the driver' display warnings got more frequent and the brakes would not function normally. Finally, all of the driver's display warnings would sequence through, one by one, and the brakes were almost entirely gone. The Honda dealer did not give me the faulty part because he said it would have to be sent to Honda. I do not know if Honda America will inspect the part to determine the cause of the failure. I did take a cellphone picture of the part. The problem began approx. 4/10/2024. I picked up the repaired vehicle at buckeye Honda on Monday 4/29/2024. The part was out of warranty by about one month: the "in-service date" was 03/04/2021. The mileage on the vehicle was 12,920 miles at the time of repair and I am the original owner. Honda America did give me a "goodwill" authorization number, in coordination with buckeye Honda in lancaster, ohio, which lowered my out of pocket cost to $l457. 73.

10 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/12/2024

There was an internal failure in the body control module, causing dysregulation of the internal electronic components and battery drainage. The battery was initially changed without effect, and after observation of the electronic component turned on with the vehicle turned off, the vehicle was driven to the shop, where the diagnosis was made. After diagnosis, the part was ordered and replaced within 2 days for approximately $777.

12 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/09/2024

The component(s) may be electrical in nature for fuel pumps don't produce electricity. On 1/9/2024 after the car been locked and off for a few hours noticed something running at the rear of the car. The fuel pump was running. Got the car fob, started and cut off. No fuel pump was running after shutdown. My father was with me, it's his car. For safety sakes, premature failure of the fuel pump or engine will cause a stall, and while driving, potentially cause a crash. (big picture), this car line in general has major fuel pump failures, and downstream, motor failure (fuel intrusion, known fact). If a fuel injector had a problem (leak by), motor failure. These known problems may originate at the starting switch, computer, or other in-between components. Called this into vicksburg miss. Cannon Honda dealership 1/10/24. It was said there was at least one more with the same problem, fuel pump running after shutdown, killing the battery or running it down. This car was bought at this dealership a year and half ago. No one has looked at the car, but if contacted, may by agreement, look at the car if a loaner can be acquired.

17 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/19/2023

On Sep 19, 2023 at about 6:10pm I got into my car at the cvs parking lot to drive home. As I reared back to get out of my parking spot, I heard a loud sound as if I had hit something on the passenger side and I returned my car to the initial spot to get out of the car and check what had happened. When I put the car into parking and tried to stop the engine, the car refused to stop. My foot was on the break, I was trying to turn off the engine but the car accelerated, went forward, then backwards, and kept going back and forth in all directions without me being able to control it. At the end it headed on the road when finally another car hit my car and this caused the car to stop. When the car stopped, it was still on park and I was then able to turn it off. This happened in the evening. In the morning when I was going to work, as I entered my garage I tried to turn off the radio because there was no reception but I was not able to turn off the radio or to lower the volume. At that time I did not think it was an issue but in retrospect, I think the two incidents might be connected. At the end of July 2023 (about a month and a half before the accident) I started getting multiple warning signals on the dashboard and then I took my car to Honda dealership who fixed the electronics for $850 and the car was returned to me. I have a police report # 2023-09190211 with witnesses for the accident on 9/19/2023 and the Honda dealership should have detailed records from their work because it was quite recent. It is a miracle that there were no injured people as a result of this accident. It was extremely scary and horrible to be in a car that cannot be controlled. This has to be investigated and measures should be taken to prevent this from happening to others. I have not received yet the assessment from the insurance and I can provide more details when they share their findings.

18 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2023

I purchased my Honda Cr-v new from a dealer in 2020. It seemed to work fine, but earlier this year strange things started to happen with the electrical systems. The remote starter would not work, the door locks and various lights would act strangely. The initial three -year warranty was up, but I had purchased an additional 4-year warranty extension. I took it to the dealer for repair and they said it needed a new body management system, which was on back order. Several weeks later, I had that replaced, but they said they also had to replace the door locks, so I had to come back and have them do that too. On Sep. 1, I needed something from the car, but the fob wouldn't open the door and I had to use the manual key. I made a service appointment for Sep. 5, however on Sep. 3 I tried to use the car and found that it is totally dead. No electrical or electronic systems are working at all. From what I have read, I am concerned that this is an electrical problem that has been exhibited in many other Cr-vs as well.

19 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/23/2023

Lost acceleration while driving on major highways on three separate occasions in less than a year's time. Noticed a recall for similar circumstances on the same year and model as mine but was told by dealer that mine was not part of the recall. This is a safety issue that needs to be addressed as I do not want to be in a situation where this happens again. These incidents happened in September, 2022, March 2023, and July 2023. I will put the latest date in additional details below. Please note: this is my second notice of safety concern of my vehicle. I sent a complaint to this administration on 08/25/2023 and did not receive any word or confirmation. Please confirm receipt of this information. Thank you for your help.

20 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/23/2023

On three separate occasions, I was driving on the highway and lost power to accelerate causing a safety issue as I was on a fast-moving highway and had to find an exit or pull over. The three times were September 22, 2022, March 23, 2023 and July 23, 2023. The first time I had it towed to hennessy Honda in woodstock, GA. They were unable to determine anything was wrong. The second time, I pulled off the highway, waited 5 minutes and then was able to start and continue to my neighborhood mechanic, bridgemill auto repair in canton, GA. Again they found nothing to explain the loss of drive power. The third time I was able to get off the highway at a nearby exit and, again, waited for 5-10 min before starting and resuming. When I saw the recall notice on 2020 Honda Cr-v hybrid recalls, I realized this must be the issue. I brought my car to ed voyles Honda in marietta, GA near my job on August 21, 2023 to have it checked out. They said that this was not on the list of recalls, but if it happened again to bring it back to them to have it checked out. I do not want to wait for this to happen again as this is a safety issue and has obviously happened with other 2020 Cr-v hybrids such as mine. I drive 45 minutes on major highways to work daily and can never be sure when it will happen the next time if I will be able to manage to avoid a crash causing injury to me, occupants in my car, and other cars on the highway. Please advise.

21 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/08/2023

Five separate times when starting the car the brakes shake and a message shows up on the dashboard "brake system" - "brake system problem" - "electric parking brake problem". The car had less than 25,000 miles when I first saw this message. I am not an expert but seems like an electrical problem.

22 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/03/2023

The contact owns a 2020 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated that while driving at various highway speeds, the vehicle intermittently downshifted without warning. The contact stated that on one occasion, he lost control of the vehicle as the vehicle drifted into another lane, which activated the lane assist warning feature. The contact took the vehicle to a dealer where he was informed that there were no recalls on the vehicle; the mechanic also could not diagnose or duplicate the failure. The dealer recommended that the contact disengage the stop/start feature each time he started the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred him to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 23,000.

23 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2023

1. Feb 1st. Vehicle stopped on a major highway while I was in fast lane at 70 mph. 2. I could have died. And most certainly would have caused a major accident if myself and others not been keeping proper distance. 3. No. I'm out of warranty. 4. No. 5. Most of the sensors flashed all random before vehicle stopped. I mean the warning sensors like tpms, mitigation, emergency braking system.

24 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/24/2023

The check engine light on my 2020 Honda crv illuminated on 1/24/2023 7am. The dealer inspected the vehicle on 1/26/2023 and found that a TSB 02-081 applied. The issue is that radio interference in the environment can trigger a fault in the evap syatem which then triggers the check engine light to come on. Seeing a check engine light on is scary and distracting. The owners manual states to drive the vehicle as little as possible and to have the vehicled serviced by a Honda dealer ASAP. The vehicle is out of warranty and we had to pay over $330 to have the vehicle fixed. The fix entails adding a wiring harness. Adding any part to remedy a problem means that the vehicle has a design defect/flaw that Honda should pay for. Not the customer.

25 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/20/2023

1) battery system 2) if you think being abandoned in a dark parking lot for 2-3 hrs is a safety risk - the answer is yes! 3) no - but its the third time it happened resulting in 2-3 waites in parking lots at nite! . 4) yes. Dealership in naples, FL. . 5) no, no, no.

26 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/19/2022

My dashboard continues to show the message, “low tire pressure. ” even after air has been filled in the tire. I ran a diagnostic today and the report is pulling up anti-lock brakes issues. The sensor is not stating this on the dashboard.

27 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/08/2022

While driving the vehicle on an interstate, the dashboard and infotainment system screens both went completely dark. Pulled the vehicle off the highway; shutting it off and restarting it did not resolve the issue. After using the steering wheel controls and screen brightness rotary control on the dashboard the displays eventually came back on. So far this is a one-time occurrence; however, a friend with the same year and model (2020 Cr-v ex) just experienced a similar problem. In his case the dashboard display continued to work but the infotainment system went dark. I took the vehicle in to a local Honda dealer. They were unable to find any issues with the vehicle displays and said there are no active recalls. Note that a similar problem resulted in a recall for 2017-2019 Honda Cr-vs. Apparently the 2020s have the same or similar issue which to date Honda has not addressed.

28 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/16/2022

Check engine warning light comes one, vehicle powers down from normal speed and will not exceed 30 mpg. This is a safety hazard on the highway. Problem has been reproduced by the dealer and we have recorded video of the occurrences. Vehicle was purchased new and is under warranty. Has been in the dealer for more than 40 days combined for issue with no resolution and the dealer has received instructions from Honda USA not to attempt any further repairs. Dealer stated Honda is aware of the issues in isolated cars and are working on a fix but does not have one. Honda has been sent a written notice and contacted by me on multiple occasions, has promised call backs but has never responded. There have been multiple occurrences of the same issue with no resolution to date from Honda.

29 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/14/2022

How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? the display periodically freezes in rear camera view when the vehicle is moving forward. It also freezes in other views and crashes. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? no, dealer could not reproduce. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? no were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? no.

30 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/08/2022

I was attempting to park in front of a medical professional building with my foot on the brake slowly rolling between the parking lines when the car experienced sudden unintended acceleration. Although I realized the car was accelerating and lurching forward, the brake was not stopping the vehicle. The car jumped the parking curb and crashed into the building causing damage to both the exterior and interior wall of the doctor's waiting room. While neither myself, my passenger, nor any patients in the waiting room were injured, someone could have been. The air bags did not deploy, and the collision mitigation system did not engage preventing the collision. Damage to the vehicle consisted of mostly front bumper and grill damage. When I called the local Honda dealership service department asking if I should have them evaluate the car before having body work completed, I was told that the dealership does not accept damaged cars until the body work has been completed. Consequently, I had the car towed to a body shop even though it was technically drivable. I did not feel safe driving the vehicle fearing it would suddenly accelerate again. I reported the incident to the Honda corporate office and a case was opened. I was again told that damage to the car had to be repaired by the body shop before the car would be evaluated by Honda. When the body shop completed the repairs, I had the car towed to the local Honda dealership for evaluation. I specifically requested that the event data recorder be evaluated, but I received conflicting answers when I asked if it had been accessed during the inspection. I was told that the Honda district representative reviewed the data from the inspection and invoice states, "no defects in materials or factory workmanship were found (name of tech) inspected and found no issues, relayed information to Honda and they advised the vehicle is ok to drive at this time". The vehicle was released back to me, but I refuse to drive it.

31 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/17/2021

The contact owns a 2020 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated that while his wife was attempting to park the vehicle at 1 mph, the vehicle independently accelerated without warning warning. The vehicle jumped a curb and crashed into a tree which stopped the acceleration; the contact, who was in the passenger seat, was able to place the vehicle into neutral and shut off the engine. The contact stated that the airbags did not deployed upon impact. The police were called the scene and a police report was filed(2021075008). The contact was able to drive the vehicle back home despite the severe front end damage. The contact was also able to drive the vehicle to an independent body shop as several warning lights had appeared on the instrument panel which he linked to the accident. The remained in the possession of the body shop for repair. The contact and his wife sought medical treatment from a doctor where his wife was treated for large lump on the back of head and the contact was diagnosed for chest contusion after having a chest x-ray. The dealer was notified of thby the contact of the failure and was informed that they do not perform body repairs. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 11,500.

32 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/04/2021

My car was parked in my driveway all day and all night. At some point during the evening all of the windows and moon roof were opened without my knowledge (my keys were on the counter). It rained all night and my car obtained substantial water damage which cost approximately $18,000. 00 to repair. I couldn’t drive my car until the repairs were made due to risk of electrical incident while driving. Honda has taken no responsibility. My car is a 2020 Honda crv. It was recently brought to my attention that windows opening unexpectedly on Honda crvs has been an issue since at least 2017 with the most recent incident that I know of happening on a 2021 model. Honda has been aware of this “glitch” for at least five years but has done nothing to correct it. It is a safety issue for many reasons. I would like this “glitch” to be corrected so that others will not have to suffer the loss and damages that I did. Insult to injury is I purchased my car from Honda in 2020 for $33,000. 00 and then in 2021 I had to pay Honda almost $18,000. 00 to fix damages sustained due to their negligence in addressing an issue that they knew about for at least 5 years.

33 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/25/2021

There is a wiring harness for automatic mirror dimming that runs out of the front headliner to the back of the rear-view mirror (p/n32155-tla-a31 32119) that seems to be without sufficient strain relief inside the mirror. On 5/9/2021, I started my Cr-v only to have multiple system failure warnings scrolling across the dash. On 5/10/2021, I took the vehicle to the dealership. They found a blown fuse (p/n 38221-sna-a41) but were not able to determine why it blew. On 5/25/2021, the same problem reoccurred. I took the vehicle that day to the dealership. The only difference was that (at least as I knew at the time) was that both failures happened after I used the remote start function. On 5/26/2021, after many attempts to duplicate the problem using remote start, the dealership contacted me saying they needed to do more troubleshooting. On 5/27/2021, the dealership contacted me saying they had determined the problem was a short in the above-mentioned harness and asked if I had hung anything on it. I mentioned that I occasionally hung my handicap placard (net weight 0. 7 ounces) on it, but it would also be bumped by the windshield sunshade I use. The service advisor said that the repairs were not covered under the warranty since it was something I did, and not the fault of the vehicle. I asked the dealership to provide me with the damaged harness for my inspection, and the service advisor agreed to that. When the vehicle was returned to me on 6/4/2021, the harness was not in the vehicle, nor, according to the service advisor, in the building. I am an engineer with years of experience in cabling and harnesses, I wanted to see the damage for myself, as well as what physical harness strain relief accommodations were made for it. When the second incident happened, we were near home, and the dealership. It could have happened a week later when we were on our vacation and driving through the middle of the wheat fields of kansas - stranded.

34 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/16/2021

If my vehicle is parked for a week or more, the battery has to be jump started. The car has under 2000 miles on it. This creates an unsafe environment when the car won't start after that short of a period. The dealership said to drive it more often! this has happened more than once.

35 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/15/2021

Car has auto lift and close for rear door. When loading rear or vehicle door will close without warning. This has happened twice, both times I was under door when ir closed, once it hit me it stopped and went back up, I almost fell down. Item 2. When washing rear of car rear door will open on its own while spraying door . If this would happen in an automatic wash it could cause serious damage or injuries to occupants. This can happen when car is off not running. Thanks.
