Oil dilution, anifreeze disappearing, loss of power while driving on highway this past Saturday, all lights on dash constantly going off at least once a month, vehicle radar senses a car in front when there is none and the braking system stops my car on its own while driving (happened several times), oil changes are done every 3000 miles, head gasket blown due to flimsy bolts oem and a 1. 5 l engine with turbo. . . . Bad idea. . . . Turbo too strong for a 1. 5l. . . . Now im out a 2500 bill. . .
The contact owns a 2022 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated that the vehicle was parked in the parking lot of a strip mall, the contact entered a store and was in the store for approximately five minutes, and a person entered the store yelling and asking if anyone in the store owned a red Honda Cr-v parked outside, because the vehicle had rolled away and crashed into a light pole. The contact looked outside and noticed that her vehicle had rolled away and crashed into the light pole on the sidewalk where the vehicle came to a stop. There was no one was inside the vehicle during the failure and no other vehicles were damaged. There were no warning lights illuminated, or messages displayed on the instrument panel before the failure. A police report was filed. The rear driver’s side quarter panel, rear bumper, rear taillight, the muffler and rear door were damaged. The contact stated that there was a recall related to the hybrid version of the vehicle for a possible rollaway failure; however, her vehicle was not a hybrid model. The vehicle was driven to a collision center. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The insurance company was informed of the failure and advised the contact to report the failure to the NHTSA hotline. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 28,046.
The automatic braking system is repeatedly braking inappropriately, with nothing in front of us or in the road. We have not gotten into an accident yet but have come close twice. The Honda dealership in elk grove, CA acted like this was normal and it “could be a leaf or pebble” and there’s nothing they can fix because it’s normal. This is not normal. It’s dangerous.
They breaking mechanism engaged on its own in the vehicle came to a complete.
On [xxx] around 5 pm, when driving below 30 miles per hour within a residential community, automatic braking was activated without any obstruction in front of the vehicle, leading to sudden decrease in speed. Vehicle is in baton rouge, la and all service/maintenance were done according to recommended schedule by Honda at the authorized dealership where the vehicle was purchased. Through online search, I found NHTSA opened an investigation for the same problem. If possible, I would appreciate an update about the status of NHTSA investigation and what action I should take. Thank you [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
I had 2 occasions in one day where my car did a phantom brake. It was unexpected and got me concerned and nervous. No orher car in front of me to cause this issue.
The contact owns a 2022 Honda Cr-v. While the contact's husband was driving at 10 mph, the brakes independently engaged. There were no warning lights illuminated. In addition, the seat belts tightened up. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. In addition, the contact stated that the failure had previously occurred while the contact was driving. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 17,735.
The contact owns a 2022 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, the vehicle was started, and the brake warning light illuminated. In addition, the contact stated the brake pedal felt spongy. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the failure was not duplicated. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 68,500.
While steering and turning, the wheel continuously feels sticky and there is a clicking and squeaking sound when I begin to turn the wheel. It is available to inspect. This vehicle does not feel safe. I have had to turn the wheel with more effort when changing lanes on the highway causing overcorrection and the brake also slipped when I was braking before turning to get onto a major street. I have taken it to firestone to get the brakes checked and for routine oil maintenance and a leak in the windshield reservoir. After the oil change, a firestone service tech recommended maintenance and repairs including an alignment, new brake pads and rotors, so I took it back to enterprise, the car dealership where I bought this vehicle on December 5, 2024. Enterprise reluctantly took it back to their service department and checked the vehicle's steering and brakes, denying there was anything wrong with either. The manager at enterprise stated that the sound I was hearing was normal wear and tear on the vehicle but I am still hearing the clicking and squeaking sound and when I turn the wheel it still feels sticky. There have been no warning lights flashing on the dash, but again, the wheel continuously feels sticky, and I have to overcorrect my turns. There is also a clicking and squeaking sound when I turn the wheel.
On a two way street, no cars in front or oncoming, at about 30 mph, for no apparent reason, the car suddenly and immediately braked to a stop. Very scary, but no one hurt. Luckily, no cars following close behind.
Collision mitigation braking system malfunctioned on 4/23/24 causing automatic abrupt braking when driving over metal hole cover in road. The braking was so intense the car behind our family nearly collided with our car. In the moment this happened the car was not in driver’s control as a result of malfunction. Contacted local Honda dealer by phone who was familiar with the issue and advised there is no doubt the cause is the cmbs and there is no diagnostics or resolution for the problem.
Brakes went on causing the car to almost come to a complete stop. Car went around the back of car. I was going 40 miles an hour. No car or anything in the road. Nice sunny day. This is the fourth time the brakes have gone on with nothing in front of car.
My 2022 crv exl's automatic emergency braking system engaged without warning for no reason; there were no obstructions on the road twice. Once on the 91 eastbound freeway around 8:30pm going over 55mph when there were no obstructions for a fraction of a second while my wife and two young children were in the vehicle.
I got car accident on 12/22/23 due to brake failure. I was at stop sign - zero mph (at parking lot near shopping mall in concord, CA), suddenly my car unexpectedly revved and lurched forward. It then jumped the parking curb. I had to control on steering wheel to the left because the right side was chinese restaurant. I tried to brake and press on "p". They did not work. My car hit one of the car that parked there. Then the car was stopped. The airbag was deployed. I talked with several people that have Honda crv hybrid, they have same problem on the brake and Honda did not take any responsible and I feel this is not safe for me and for people that drive same road with me. I might hit more people if I still own this car. Note: I have this car less than 2 years so I still owe the bank. Note: my car was not on fire but it was smoking came out from steering wheel. I got chest, stomach, back hurt from the pushing of airbag.
The most urgent issue with my vehicle is the automatic braking system. During several instances driving during the day and at night, my car has done what’s referred to as “phantom braking” where it detects something in the road, though the road is completely clear and open and the brakes engage and suddenly stop my car. It’s happened on occasions where it triggers the brakes lightly and it’s happened so intensely that my seat buckle has locked up throwing my head forward and my car comes to a near stop on the freeway. It happens on regular roads as well, but the freeway is especially dangerous especially traveling at a higher rate of speed for the breaks to be engaged and rapidly slow my car down. I have been so fortunate that the times it has happened the people behind me had enough reaction time or there was no one behind me. This has happened on numerous occasions and for almost every incident it occurred I’ve had a witness (my parter at the time) they saw how jarring, intense and dangerous the braking was and how it happened out of nowhere. I brought this up to my dealership but they kept shooing me away saying that it’s not a problem and if I wanted to I could turn the automatic braking system off every single time I start my car (because that resets once your car is off and will be active the next time it’s in use) after an extreme incident on the freeway that almost got me into an accident (with a witness) I brought it to them again to which they told me my warranty was up and if I wanted to “check it out” for problems I would need to pay out of pocket and again recommended that I turn it off every time I start my vehicle. They said they wanted to see the problem themselves but it does not happen every drive. You have no idea when it is going to happen so it’s impossible to test with the intention of seeing for yourself. It’s completely random. I’ve also had electrical issues but the brake system is my priority.
I was driving my 2021 Honda Cr-v vehicle at residential speed (exact speed unknown). Car suddenly stopped in street causing me to jerk forward in driver seat. As the car stopped, I saw the orange brake symbol appear in front dash. I was accelerating at time of incident. I was not using the brakes. I was injured with severe whiplash. Pain so severe that I also made an error with administration of a pain reliever when I arrived home. This put me and my passenger at risk due to the failure of what I learned was the cmbs in my vehicle. If another car was following too closely behind me at the time the car abruptly stopped, this could have been a more serious accident. This incident happened today 11/22/2023 at approximately 11:30 am est. I have not had an opportunity to contact the dealer as I have been in pain since it happened. Also, a few weeks ago, I noticed the brake symbol appeared while driving while accelerating. The car jerked but it did not fully stop. Date of that incident unknown. The car has not yet been inspected by anyone since today’s incident. I found information about the cmbs issue for my car type after searching for a known recall online this evening.
I was in a dedicated lane to make a left turn. There was no vehicle in front of me and no pedestrians in the crosswalk. I was coasting to the light at about 20mph or less as I could see that it was red and because I am familiar with the intersection , I knew it would not turn green immediately. At 2 to 3 car lengths back from where I was going to stop all of a sudden the car jolted to a stop. The car immediately shut down (quit running). There was no car behind me or I am sure my car would have been rear ended. I got out of the car to see if there was something under it or if I could see if something had fallen off the underside of the car. I tried to restart the car but it would not start. By that time there were 2 cars behind me waiting to turn. I got out of the car and went back to the nearest car and told the driver she needed to go around my car. I got back into my car and tried to restart it and it started. I had absolutely no warning before this happened. I did not take the car for an inspection but I did call the salesman (as soon as I could). He said it might be because of the forward collision system and suggested that I could turn it off. He said that the system is very sensitive and even a leaf might set it off. Even though it was in October, it was not a windy day and most trees in my area had not started losing their leaves. I bought this car because of the safety equipment as I am 81 years old and in good health, but I am a practical person. I did tell the salesman that if there is another incident that I would be coming in for an inspection. I have been anxious about this and have learned others have had this problem. On two separate occasions, the Honda Cr-v brakes automatically engaged very abruptly for no reason. The dealership indicated that it is a known problem and that there is nothing that can be done to disengage the automatic emergency braking. The vehicle has not been inspected. No warning or message was evident prior to, during or immediately after the incidents.
The contact owned a 2022 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated that while driving and attempting to park the vehicle, the vehicle independently accelerated and crashed into a fence and a generator on a residential property. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard, where it was inspected by check collision and diagnosed with a brake malfunction. The vehicle was declared a total loss by the insurance adjuster. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 9,379.
My car has slammed on the brakes 3 times since may 5 for no reason causing the tires to squall and throw me into the wheel.
There have been approximately 10 times I was driving my crv and was exiting the interstate onto the exit ramp with no cars in front of me and the automatic brakes came on attempting to stop my car for no reason. I took it to my local Honda dealership and told them what had happened and they said there was nothing they could do about it. This is a dangerous issue and could easily cause an accident.
I hit a deer with my car and pulled over to emergency lane. I had a hard time to make the car stop rolling. I pressed brake, emergency brake, car was stuck in neutral. I thought car was stopped and got of car . Car began rolling and I was holding onto passenger door handle and I could not open door to jump in and stop car. I had to let it go and it went into the lane on the highway and stop finally. . Luckily no one hit the car or got hurt. I had to stay seated in the car with my foot on brake with a cop behind me until a tow truck arrived. Car would not start, park or anything.

Brakes: loud squealing while in reverse and stop sign. Also steering and turning steering wheel. Fuel system looses power. Getting poor gas mileage. Rear windows tweet. Took to vern eide Honda on 12/08/22. Top certified mechanic looked at brakes steering and fuel system no problems found. Oil life dropped 20% in less than a month drive work and home. Less than 50 miles per day. Additional rear windows tweet and door handle squeak like rusty. Problem started in August of 2022 and is now 90%worse. Had also taken vehicle to harr Honda on 1/16/23 they greased brakes said nothing they can do wait for recall.
Brakes are applied at a slow and fast speed for no reason. Also the touch screen turns off or loses view while driving and car is sluggish when you excelerate the gas peddle.
Intermittantly I receive a message on my car stating there is a problem with the cmbs (collision mitigation braking system) it comes and goes. I am afraid that it will brake when it shouldn't and cause an accident. I took it to the dealership last week on 06/02/2022 and they said there is a problem with the radar/camera system and ordered replacement parts. There are flashing it lights that come on the instrument panel and flash so fast you cannot read them and then a message popped up on my radio screen saying there is an issue with cmbs. I have a video and pictures showing this. Dealership said it is safe to drive until parts are recieved.
There were no cars in front of mine when the abs system suddenly braked very hard. The car behind me had to slam on brakes to avoid rear ending me. This car is 3 weeks old and this is very scary.
I was going south bound up a hill. Less then 20 mph and was blinded by the sun. The old folks in front of me were also blinded by the sun and stopped in the middle of the hill. My automatic emergency braking system did not kick in and I ran right into them. We could have been hurt. My car is being fixed in a collision repair shop now.
