This morning, around 9 am, I was stopped on [xxx] in traffic, just south of [xxx] . [xxx] ) foot on break, waiting for traffic to start moving. Engine suddenly revved to about 4k rpm. Car started to lurch a bit, I had to put increased pressure on the brake to hold it. I wasn’t sure the brake would hold, so I shifted to neutral, engine revved up over 4k. It settled back down and I was able to drive to the Honda dealer on [xxx] (less than a mile from where the incident occurred. ) left the car there to be worked on. Car was in the engine idle shutoff mode. I don’t recall if it started revving coming out of that mode, but I don’t think so since my foot would have been off the brake at that point. Other than the lurch that occurred while I was pressing hard on the brake, I didn’t move the car until after I had put it in neutral and it settled down. Then I put it in drive and moved forward. I don't recall any warning lamps or messages. No report yet from the Honda dealer [xxx] ), but I wanted to report this since this should never happen -- regardless of the root cause. While driving my 2022 Honda crv at highway speeds and at operating temperature, the steering sticks and/or pauses then releases causing the steering to jerk back in the opposite direction. This creates a major safety issue while driving on the highway and can potentially cause an accident. Additionally, when turning the vehicle left at slow speeds, we would periodically hear a clicking noise. These problems began at the beginning of 2024 and have progressively gotten worse. Initial attempts to have Honda identify the problems failed as they could not replicate the problems at the time of diagnostics. During this time, our warranty expired. On may 20, 2026, we once again had the vehicle inspected by pohanka Honda of salisbury, MD for the same issues. This time the lead mechanic technician was able to replicate and pinpoint the problem. He noted the problem was the "electrical power steering system assembly and gearbox assembly", which contained the worm gear and worm wheel assembly. The dealership quoted us a price of $2,153. 00 for parts, labor, and a full alignment, which is required during this type of repair. The service technician advised there are no current recalls to cover the cost of this repair. The Honda corporation has suggested we apply for their “goodwill assistance program”, to help cover cost for out-of-warranty repairs, but there was no guarantee that we would qualify for any monetary relief. We believe Honda corporation is ignoring a major defect and safety issue regarding the electrical power steering assembly and gearbox, on older crv models. This same part has been deemed as defective and a major safety issue on newer crv models between 2023-2025 and has recalled those vehicles for repair. I believe the company should be required to recall all vehicles with the defective electrical power steering assembly and gearbox. Fortunately for us, Honda made the repair and covered the full cost through the goodwill assistance program.
The contact owns a 2022 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated that the vehicle was parked in the parking lot of a strip mall, the contact entered a store and was in the store for approximately five minutes, and a person entered the store yelling and asking if anyone in the store owned a red Honda Cr-v parked outside, because the vehicle had rolled away and crashed into a light pole. The contact looked outside and noticed that her vehicle had rolled away and crashed into the light pole on the sidewalk where the vehicle came to a stop. There was no one was inside the vehicle during the failure and no other vehicles were damaged. There were no warning lights illuminated, or messages displayed on the instrument panel before the failure. A police report was filed. The rear driver’s side quarter panel, rear bumper, rear taillight, the muffler and rear door were damaged. The contact stated that there was a recall related to the hybrid version of the vehicle for a possible rollaway failure; however, her vehicle was not a hybrid model. The vehicle was driven to a collision center. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The insurance company was informed of the failure and advised the contact to report the failure to the NHTSA hotline. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 28,046.
It happened twice so far, while driving on the highway, suddenly the car would no longer respond to the accelerator pedal and the car started losing speed meanwhile the warning lights flashes on the dashboard. , in a panic we had to cruise to park on the highways shoulder. Shut the car off thinking the car may have overheated or something, then restarted the engine and the dashboard was very normal, we proceeded to drive cautiously to mechanic, the mechanic found no error code to lead him to any diagnoses. The car drives normally after each incident. We are very concerned that this event could happen in critical situation and cause accident or the faulty component may causing this issue may lead to other more serious power train trouble that will not be covered by warranty in the future. By searching online, we found too many owners have had the same experience but we solution was offered by Honda. We urge you to investigate and help owners to be safe on the roads.
Honda 2022 Cr-v - rear differential (rd) locking up, jerking, slipping, not moving smoothly. When backing up and turning the rd has been jerking and slipping for more than 2 years. I had the vehicle in the shop 2+ years ago and explained the problem and they claimed they could not find a problem and gave the car back to me. Now it's back in the shop again as the problem is worse. The powertrain is still under warranty so I assumed they would cover it, however they said it's my fault so they won't cover it. Honda dealer wants $4000 to fix. So next I contacted american Honda and explained it to them. After a week of waiting they came back and said we will give you a discount to $2500. My response it this should be under warranty. They will not admit they had defective rear differentials as I saw NHTSA had an open inquiry of these rds. Nhtsa action number: pe22011. Now I am waiting to get my Cr-v back and pay the hefty bill even though this is clearly a Honda defect. Can you help me get a recall opened to american Honda to fix these rear differentials? the Honda company and the luther dealer have not been honest and they need to be held accountable.
Car have mechanical failure due to manufacturing defect that american Honda dont take care of it. I buy my car brand new 2years ago,the engine motor damage car not working anymore.
I got car accident on 12/22/23 due to brake failure. I was at stop sign - zero mph (at parking lot near shopping mall in concord, CA), suddenly my car unexpectedly revved and lurched forward. It then jumped the parking curb. I had to control on steering wheel to the left because the right side was chinese restaurant. I tried to brake and press on "p". They did not work. My car hit one of the car that parked there. Then the car was stopped. The airbag was deployed. I talked with several people that have Honda crv hybrid, they have same problem on the brake and Honda did not take any responsible and I feel this is not safe for me and for people that drive same road with me. I might hit more people if I still own this car. Note: I have this car less than 2 years so I still owe the bank. Note: my car was not on fire but it was smoking came out from steering wheel. I got chest, stomach, back hurt from the pushing of airbag.
The contact owns a 2022 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed and making a turn, the vehicle temporarily lost motive power. The contact stated that upon depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle responded as needed. The contact stated that the failure recurred intermittently while turning. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was unknown.
The front passenger side axle seal leaking transmission fluid. This leak caused a loss of transmission fluid which, if not discovered, could have caused sudden power loss and lockup of transmission. This would no doubt have caused a collision resulting in serious injury or death. I believe Honda is aware of this defect and has yet to issue a recall.
I hit a deer with my car and pulled over to emergency lane. I had a hard time to make the car stop rolling. I pressed brake, emergency brake, car was stuck in neutral. I thought car was stopped and got of car . Car began rolling and I was holding onto passenger door handle and I could not open door to jump in and stop car. I had to let it go and it went into the lane on the highway and stop finally. . Luckily no one hit the car or got hurt. I had to stay seated in the car with my foot on brake with a cop behind me until a tow truck arrived. Car would not start, park or anything.
When I tried to reverse the car the car went forward. I put the car in park and tried to reverse again the car went forward again, I tried one more time and the car went forward while in reverse. I shut the car off and gave it a few minutes, I turned it back on and tried one more time and the car finally reversed. R was indicated on the dashboard and the reverse camera was on while the car was driving forward.

I purchased a new Honda Cr-v exl awd in Jan 2022 and it has only 1971 miles. Now, the transmission is completely dead with these miles. The dealership informed me that this requires a new transmission which is covered under Honda warranty. The strange thing is that I didn't receive any warning or notification in my dashboard that transmission is getting bad/worse. Luckily, the car was stopped on a residential county road but I can't imagine if the power is getting dropped and stopped on the freeway without any warning. This is one of the biggest safety concerns and this would be a life threatening incident. I have already owned a Honda civic in the past and never had any issue, but I was highly disappointed with this incident and lost confidence with Honda. Please refund my money back :-( what component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request ? ans: transmission failed.
