On Wednesday, November 26, 2025, I took my 2022 Honda Cr-v hybrid to the dealership for a routine oil change. The service team told me that all systems showed the vehicle was in good condition. They advised me to return for my next oil change and regular maintenance. I did not drive anywhere on Thursday, November 27, which was thanksgiving day. On Friday, November 28, while driving to work on the highway, the engine warning light turned on and my car began to slow down. Pressing the accelerator did not help—the vehicle would not speed up and lost power while I was driving on the highway. This was a very stressful and unsafe situation. I had to pull over onto the shoulder with a line of cars behind me. My car was towed to the dealership. The dealership said they could not find anything wrong with it. However, I experienced a clear and serious problem. Not only did I miss work, but I also had to pay $238. 95 for the towing service. After researching, I found there was a recall issued on December 18, 2023, for a fuel pump failure that can cause the engine to stall while driving, which increases the risk of a crash. However, this recall did not include the 2022 model year, which is the year of my vehicle. The recall describes exactly what happened to me. Honda should include the 2022 Cr-v hybrid in the recall and therefore; replace the fuel pump module at no cost to help ensure everyone’s safety.
It happened twice so far, while driving on the highway, suddenly the car would no longer respond to the accelerator pedal and the car started losing speed meanwhile the warning lights flashes on the dashboard. , in a panic we had to cruise to park on the highways shoulder. Shut the car off thinking the car may have overheated or something, then restarted the engine and the dashboard was very normal, we proceeded to drive cautiously to mechanic, the mechanic found no error code to lead him to any diagnoses. The car drives normally after each incident. We are very concerned that this event could happen in critical situation and cause accident or the faulty component may causing this issue may lead to other more serious power train trouble that will not be covered by warranty in the future. By searching online, we found too many owners have had the same experience but we solution was offered by Honda. We urge you to investigate and help owners to be safe on the roads.
I was on the highway going approximately 65mph for 10 minutes when my engine light turned on and began blinking. Immediately when it turned on I lost the ability to accelerate and had to go across 3 lanes of extremely busy and fast traffic to pull over onto the shoulder. Once I was on the shoulder, I shut my car off for 2 minutes and restarted it and the car worked as normal again. The initial incident occurred on October 4th, 2024, and it has happened again on November 29th, 2024. I do have an image of the engine light on that was taken on October 4th if that would be helpful at all. I've looked online to find out that other Honda Cr-v hybrid owners have had this issue with no fix provided from Honda at all. Their advice is to leave the car running and get it towed to a Honda dealership immediately, which can be extremely expensive depending on your distance to a dealership and sometimes not feasible if I'm on my way to my job and cannot call out "sick". I feel as though this is irresponsible of the dealership to put the onus on consumers, and is clearly a recall waiting to happen that they just haven't admitted to yet.
The contact owns a 2022 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated that while attempting to park the vehicle, the vehicle suddenly accelerated on its own. As a result, the contact briefly lost control of the vehicle, only coming to a complete stop after colliding with a tree. The air bags did deploy. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard pending a determination from the contact's insurance provider. A police report was filed, but no injuries were reported. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 28,000.
I got car accident on 12/22/23 due to brake failure. I was at stop sign - zero mph (at parking lot near shopping mall in concord, CA), suddenly my car unexpectedly revved and lurched forward. It then jumped the parking curb. I had to control on steering wheel to the left because the right side was chinese restaurant. I tried to brake and press on "p". They did not work. My car hit one of the car that parked there. Then the car was stopped. The airbag was deployed. I talked with several people that have Honda crv hybrid, they have same problem on the brake and Honda did not take any responsible and I feel this is not safe for me and for people that drive same road with me. I might hit more people if I still own this car. Note: I have this car less than 2 years so I still owe the bank. Note: my car was not on fire but it was smoking came out from steering wheel. I got chest, stomach, back hurt from the pushing of airbag.
When traveling with the cruise control engaged, the vehicle will suddenly begin braking with no vehicles or objects in front of the vehicle. It’s occurred multiple occasions and some episodes are a quick braking where it then suddenly accelerates back up to the set speed, and during other episodes I quickly hit the accelerator as I wasn’t sure if it was going to recover itself and I did not want to get rear ended.
