Wiper problems of the 2023 Honda CR-V

I was driving along I-20/59 northbound approaching bessemer, al near or between mile marker 102-104. Suddenly I heard a “pop” sound coming from behind me and noticed in my rear view mirror the rear windshield had a small hole in it. I had just merged into the far left passing lane when this occurred and then proceeded to merge to exit onto exit 104 (mcashan dr. / mccalla). As I continued to drive glass began to shatter and the hole expanded. I was initially startled and afraid because I didn’t know what was happening. Once I exited, I parked at the flying j truck stop and exited the vehicle to further assess. I called my parents and then a bessemer police officer to file a report. I’m not certain if something hit my windshield, if this is the result of a manufacturing malfunction, or other unknown occurrence due to external factors.

Windshield wipers have inconsistent force causing it to hit the pillars of of the driver side periodically. Damage could occur to both the arm and the vehicle frame due to repeated impact. Visibility is also affected since the wiper does not clear all of the rain water and causes chattering.

The vehicle was backed into a parking spot in the last row of a parking lot; no one would be behind the vehicle. It was parked for 2 days and upon returning to it, the rear window was broken. A hole about the size of 2 fists was present, along with a horizontal crack from the hole to the edge of the frame. Up until this break, there was no indication of any issue with the window/glass.

The wiper blades fail to go to the edge of the window on the driver's side. It leaves a gap of about 2-3 inches from the edge of the window pillar uncleaned. In heavy rain or snow/ice or in the case of cleaning a dirty windshield, this gap limits the driver's visibility while driving. Also, having the windshield wiper fluid come out of the blades rather than spraying directly onto the windshield is useless as the fluid comes out while the wipers are half way up and fluid then gets pushed off the windshield and flows down the driver's side window again affecting the driver's visibility.

Wiper fluid is not disbursed from wiper blades until blades are in full left swipe position. No fluid is disbursed on the way up to that left position, so all fluid from driver side wiper blades goes off the side of windshield or just pools there. Very little fluid from the passenger side blade goes onto windshield in front of driver. There is no way to get fluid on passenger side of windshield, since fluid comes from top of blade, which is pointing left in straight up position when fluid is disbursed. This is a terrible design. I run out of fluid frequently and cannot see to drive is messy, ohio winters. This happens each time I use the wiper fluid, not just on the random January date I selected.

The windshield wipers do not clear the windshield completely and the reversing point for the drivers side wiper is inconsistent, leaving a wide uncleared gap of varying widths. Honda dealership says this is normal and will no repair the wipers.

The driver's side mirror glass vibrates excessively while operating the vehicle at highway speeds. This mirror glass vibration causes distorted images to be seen in the mirror and can disorient the driver while the vehicle is in motion.

As my car was warming up, I was standing near the driver door and hear a *tink* noise. When I got into the car, I saw that my driver side mirror had a single vertical crack straight down the middle. There was no point of impact and when I first approached my car not even 5 minutes prior, the mirror was perfectly intact. For all intents and purposes, the mirror has spontaneously cracked. The dealership I took it to has refused to replace the mirror under warranty although my car is less than two years old and only has 10000 miles. The crack distorts visibility considerably. This is a known issue with 23-24 crvs with a lengthy thread on reddit detailing similar experiences.

The driver's side mirror repeatedly shakes at speeds above 40 mph and is very prolific at highway speeds (especially 70 mph). It is extremely disorientating and makes it difficult when trying to get an accurate read of surroundings when changing lanes. I had the mirror glass replaced at a dealer, which only made the issue worse. Another dealer replaced the entire mirror assembly, which seemed to solve the problem temporarily. However, it resumed less than a month later and may even be getting worse.

Passenger side mirror on door cracked after getting into freezing temperatures. No impact caused damage.

Steering appears to go blank when slightly turning it. Mostly noticeable at higher speeds. Feels like the steering gets stuck then releases. Dealer says they cannot replicate the issue. Whippers are slow on their highest setting.

When we purchased a vehicle, it appeared to have some kind of overspray and film on the front windshield. They attempted to polished or buff out the windshield which didn’t really help. While normal driving it’s hard to notice but when really refracts the lighting, which makes it extremely difficult to see. The dealer tracy Honda is attempting to polish out the window. Once again, we will see if this makes a difference.

A crack in the passenger side mirror randomly originated. No damage to the mirror assembly. The crack originated from left bottom side and extended toward the center in a singular curved line.

The wiper fluid is delayed, making the fluid not make it on windshield and all go to the side window. It works when stopped but when driving the fluid goes to the side od windshield and the driver side gets zero fluid and the passanger side gets dry and streaky. Very poor design. Reddit group concerns as well.

Back glass exploded. Vehicle was not running at the time of the incident. Went to load toddler into the car, the glass fell into the trunk as I shut the rear passenger door.

On August 15, 2023, the rear windshield on my 2023 Honda crv hybrid sport touring spontaneously shattered while parked in the garage. The shattered glass was primarily contained within the rear storage area, but also on the garage floor. After consulting with the dealer, I drove it to the dealership (apple tree Honda in fletcher, nc) where it was examined by the service manager. There were no symptoms of failure prior to the spontaneous shattering. Resolution pending at this date.

On 7/11/23, I reported issue to my Honda dealership and headquarters (had case number) regarding reduced visibility impacted by driver’s side mirror vibrating, leading to dizziness and inability to clearly see cars using that mirror. Field representative drove car and said he couldn’t duplicate the issue. Still having issues with vibrating mirror.

Driver’s side mirror vibrates when the car is going at highway speeds. The passenger side mirror is unaffected. The vibration makes the mirror difficult to use at higher speeds.

Brand new Honda Cr-v 20223. 2 safety issues were observed: vibrating hood and vibrating driver side rear mirror. Both were confirmed by Honda representative on 5/18/2023. I have recorded footage of hood vibration. [1] for hood, when driving at highway speed (60+mph), hood visibly vibrated and vibration increased at higher speed. Dealership adjusted spacers and also found out the adhesives between the hood plate and the hood frame were not sufficient. It could have popped open during highway most likely lead to immediate fatal crash. [2] for mirror, when driving at highway speed (60+mph), driver-side rear mirror visibly vibrates and vibration increases at higher speed. Passenger-side rear mirror is perfectly fine. Dealership and Honda replaced the complete rear mirror once. The issue remains the same. Vibration over time will pop the mirror off, losing visibility impairing safety driving. Honda as of the time of this complaint 7/21/2023 stated verbally and repeatedly to me (and they recorded the phone call) that they will not replace or do anything about this vibrating mirror, and that I as the consumer who paid for a brand new car will just have to accept and live with it. Honda basically on the record states that they refuse to do anything about this vibrating mirror. Both issues have been reported by others to my knowledge. Yet Honda refuses to take accountability to do the right thing.

Drivers side door mirror vibrates while driving. Causes issues when looking at it when checking for traffic etc. This has been reported and verified by dealer. This is a known issue by Honda and has been reported by other Honda owners. Dealer told me that hona is aware but mirrors are back ordered and no time table for repair. This is a safety item.

Driver's side mirror glass vibrates at highway speeds since purchase of the vehicle. Impedes visibility and could cause dizziness. Multiple complaints relating to this issue already submitted on NHTSA.

Hood shakes like crazy at sppeds over 60 mph, brought to dealer and they said it was "normal" and there is nothing they can do. It is shaking badly and I worry it will pop up and cause an accident. Not pleased with this at all. Second thing is it has developed a loud wind noise on passengers side "a" pillar near the windshield it seems. Going in to the dealer for them to look at that next week, as was not present when new, and we have now about 12,000 miles on it and it is about 10 months old. Other issue is the drivers side mirror shakes and vibrates lots at highway speeds making it difficult to use day or night, it is terrible. So far, not a happy customer. Lastly, the horn is really not loud enough, and also complained to dealer about that and they said "they are all like that" nothing they can do. .

December 2022 two weeks after I leased the vehicle from roush Honda, due to severe cold weather the driver side mirror cracked and I immediately reported to the dealer with photos via email communication. For 4 months I drove the car unsafely unable to use the driver side mirror, this caused anxiety, stress and dangerous especially merging on the free way and change left late. 4 months after, in April 2023 the dealer replaced the mirror to make the situation worse, and I reported immediately to the dealer. I have also communicated to the dealer management about this safety and endangerment via emails. Since April 2023 to present, while driving, the driver side mirror constantly vibrates, changes positions by itself, it is not adjustable electronically, and it is unstable. My wife and I operated and operate the vehicle over 7 months (December 2022 to present) without the ability to use driver side mirror, which caused and causes stress, anxiety and safely concerns especially merging on the free away and changing left lane. On multiple incidents almost got into terrible fetal accidents with semitrucks on the freeway caused by this unstable and un-adjustable driver side mirror. It is been unsafe over 7 months, endangering myself and my family (wife and 2 kids). Not even once, the dealer offered me rental car while they are trying to fix this dangerous issue. Please do investigate the documentations the proof is there. I am reporting this so no one or family has to go through this endangerment. The pain and suffering from this unsafe driving situation are heavy and continuous. Thanks for your help.

The driver's side mirror has a distorted image. The mirror also vibrates at high speeds. The vibration appears to be in the mirror glass, rather than the mirror housing. The distorted image and the vibration makes it very disorienting, distracting, and dangerous to drive the vehicle. Passenger side mirror appears to not be impacted. . Read more...
