The dealership found a soaked evap canister, replaced the fuel tank and evap canister, and the symptoms returned after about one week with a fuel smell entering the cabin. The fumes cause migraines and are unacceptable for a new car.
My wife and I leased this 2026 crv on xxx. Six days old, with approx 89 miles on it. We were heading to [xxx] from [xxx] on [xxx] when there was a engine noise, then a loud pop, my wife said it was smoking and no oil pressure came across the instrument panel, immediately after that message the screen turned red saying to turn vehicle off immediately. We were on a corner on the interstate right at xxx exit, we coasted to shoulder, there was flames coming up from hood cowl between windshield wipers/hood/ windshield while we were still in the vehicle. We were able to exit the vehicle and get to a safe distance and I called [xxx]. [xxx] fire department responded to put out the fire, as well as montana highway patrol to make a report. The Honda dealer we leased from sent us a replacement vehicle, they also had the towing company haul the car to there lot, and the payed the wrecker bill. We initially called our insurance to let them know about the fire, and that the car was a total loss. But we thought it would be best to talk to corporate Honda before we filed a claim. It took Honda about a week to respond, they said we have to turn it into our insurance. We finalized our insurance claim xxx. On August 29, 2026 our 2026 Honda crv hybrid had a sudden unintended acceleration ending in a collision with a tree. The car was in a low speed and being parked in a parking lot. While slowing down or decelerating, the crv surged forward. The collision repairs cost approximately 15,000. Due to the fact that it happened in a parking lot on private property, no police report was filed. State farm, our insurance was notified and we were encouraged to call caliber collision. State farm sent a tow truck and our crv was taken to caliber collision the same day. At the time of the collision, no air bag was deployed. As the driver at the time, the incident happened very quickly, and I was thankful the vehicle hit a tree and not a person. I can honestly say my foot was not on the acceleration pedal. After arriving home, I began checking for other similar incidents and found a report of unintended/phantom acceleration complaints while the cars were at low speeds while trying to park or decelerate. This report was attached to the lemberg law in wilton, connecticut. I reached out to the law firm inquiring about data they have collected. Their response, "yes, we are aware of the issue and investigating it further. " in the meantime, other reports on the internet were also located and another owner of a crv 2026 hybrid living in our area also experienced the same surge while parking, hitting a sign. My state farm agent has also tried to call eileen at american Honda and has never received a callback. Now, Honda appears to be avoiding the situation, although eileen stated, "we take safety very seriously. ".

Vehicle subsequently diagnosed at david mcdavid Honda irving with fuel injector failure requiring complete replacement under warranty. Highway power loss on a brand new vehicle at 300+ miles represents a serious safety hazard. Vehicle has been at dealer since may 26, 2026 for warranty repairs and even after 9 days they have not been able to resolve the issue and I am still waiting to pick up my car. 1. Google maps does not work in applecarplay like it does in the 2025 models. The car speed bounces between certain numbers and the speed seriously lags speed numbers are not bouncing. This is a safety issue because there is not a single navigation application that works on that carplay and I then have to rely on my phone again which can be distracting. 2. The fuel economy is much worse than stated in Honda literature. The freeway mpg is not 31 but 26.
