problem #1

Rack an pinion is breaking. This represents a safety risk while driving since the steering wheel at times does not have full control of the vehicle. Two local mechanic shops diagnosed rack and pinion defects and informed that it has been a recurrent issue in my car model.

problem #2

Starting late December 2023, the vehicle drained the battery in the car very quickly. I replaced the battery twice, and twice the battery was drained to death very quickly. It was discovered by the local Honda dealer that the body control module (bcm) on the car wakes up by itself while the car is shutdown and parked. Bcm drains the battery very quickly and leaving the car in-operable, leaving us stranded. This is a very serious security risk. It caused over $1000 to repair. This is a wide-spread problem for Honda cars. Actually there is a recall for bcm in Honda accord models.

problem #3

Unknown.

problem #4

Beginning on the first of December 2023, the battery has drained every 24 to 48 hours. I have used up the annual roadside assistance I am allowed in the policy year October 2023 through October 2024. The roadside assistance technicians kept telling me I was not driving it enough or I was leaving something on. The tow truck driver I called for a jump this Thursday, in order to drive to the repair facility, suggested the mechanic needed to check every circuit in order to determine what function was draining the battery. The first and potentially not the last drain is the front passenger side door handle. No door handles are currently available from Honda. I have seen complaints, at complaints. Com, regarding "parasitic" battery drain on this model year.

problem #5

Dashboard all warning lights flashing. Unable to see how fast I’m going. Has happened multiple times in the past months. And is also a safety distraction. Light will not turn off unless I connect and disconnect the battery, which will still happen again either way in about a week.

problem #6

I am writing to express my concern about the quality of the heavy duty straps that accompanied the yakima jaylow j-cradle rooftop kayak mount I purchased earlier this year. On July 3, 2023, I attempted to tighten the first strap I used with the mount. Unfortunately, the strap detached at the point of attachment to the buckle. I was fortunate that this happened while I was in my driveway, and no one was injured. However, had this failure occurred while I was driving, the potential consequences could have been disastrous. I contacted yakima, but they were extremely slow to respond and seemed unconcerned even though I told signaled to them that I believed this issue could result in someone being seriously injured or dying. The specific component that failed was the super heavy duty strap. This strap has a buckle with a rubber jacket around it. The strap was sewn around the rubber instead of the metal of the buckle. The yakima jaylow comes with two of these straps. I still the failed strap and a strap which I didn't tighten to failure, but is improperly manufactured. This put the safety of others at risk in that there is a high probability that kayaks attached with these straps (with this manufacturing defect) will fly off the vehicle. I am a mechanical engineer. I inspected it and reported it to the manufacturer. Again, they seemed unconcerned, but did send two new straps which were properly manufactured with the strap sewn around the buckle. . . Instead of around the rubber buckle jacket. There were no warnings to the failure and it would be hard to expect/see the manufacturing defect. One doesn't expect a strap to break like this.

problem #7

I was traveling over the weekend (700 miles). I stopped at a convenience store, went to shift in to park, and there was no button left in the shift lever. I was able to shift to neutral so I did not drive through the front door. Had this happened while in a roadway, it could have lead to a far worse outcome. I was able to figure out how the inner parts of the level are aligned to shift gears and finish my trip, with several interruptions as more and more pieces fell out and changed my ability to get the shifter to work in a new way. I have found ample videos on the repair process as this appears to be a very common issue. This affects the functioning of the transmission and is very dangerous. I cannot find any open recalls for my VIN. If this has been replaced before, the replacement is also defective.

problem #8

Blue ox base plate broke while towing car on highway. I have photos of the broken base plate. If both sides of base plate would have broken, car would have come free and would could have hit another car or person. I reached out to blue ox to report the problem but have not received any response.

problem #9

All warning lights come up on vehicle. Recall needed. This is occurring on most 2017 crv.
