The starter system is intermittent and grinds on occasion which keeps the car from starting. If I were in a situation where the car must start, on a railroad track etc. , this would be deadly! I read on line where there are thousands of people having the same issue and Honda knows of this issue and has not addressed it! the starter motor housing is engineered incorrectly and after a short time, the teeth grind and destroy the flywheel. This needs to be recalled and if they do not, it needs to be a forced recall.
The contact owns a 2013 make: Honda model: Crosstour. The contact stated that when she uses her remote start to power on her vehicle, the vehicle makes a grinding noise and all the warning lights starts to illuminate, flashing on and off. The contact stated that its not consistent ,but sporadically happens when she is about to drive her vehicle. The contact stated that upon doing her own research she found the same failure on the same year, make , and model as her vehicle. The contact stated that she has taken her vehicle to a independent mechanic who was unable to diagnose the failure as well as the dealer. Mileage failure was 100,000.
