The part in my car that has failed twice is the right front seat belt buckle. I was alerted to this problem in June of 2020, when my srs light lit up. I took the car to autonation Honda 104 in westminster, CO. , 80234, on 6/2/20 after learning about Honda's previously documented srs and seat belt issues. The code that led to the srs light going on was 22-1, indicating "open or increased resistance in the right buckle tensioner. " the part was replaced at that time and the srs light remained off after the repair. However, in July of 2023, the srs light went on again. I took it to the same dealership on 7/20/23. I was informed that the same code occurred, and that the part would be replaced again under warranty. However, it was not available due to supply issues. Both times this problem has occurred, I was informed by Honda personnel that the seat belt system might not perform as designed in a crash, creating increased risk of death or injury for a passenger in that seat. I was advised to avoid having passengers ride in that seat. At the 7/20/23 appointment I was informed that the estimated time of arrival (eta) for this part was 9/2/23. On 9/21/23 I called USA Honda for an update since I had not heard anything from them. I was informed that the eta was now unknown, and that they would provide me with regular updates via email. However, all subsequent emails indicated an unknown eta. On 1/10/24 I again contacted contacted USA Honda by phone to ask for an update. I was informed that there is now a "possible" eta of 5/20/24. Thus the earliest I might get my car fixed is 10 months from when the problem started, if then. Honda has said that the delay is due to problems with the part manufacturer, but has refused to give me information about how to reach this manufacturer. The delay in honoring their warranty, for any reason, amounts to negligence that could lead to death or injury of a passenger, and results in me not being able to use the car as designed.

During normal driving, no hard braking involved, the passenger seatbelt consistently locks up - causing my passengers to be locked in place. It locks if a passenger leans forward to remove something from the dash cubbies (which are just outside of arms reach but well within normal range reach). It locks if the passenger leans to reach behind the driver's seat. It seems as if the belt has been designed too short or the locking mechanism overly sensitive. Should a collision happen while locked, there would be absolutely no give and could cause them significant harm.

The contact owns a 2011 Honda Element. The contact stated that while driving at 65 mph, she had noticed that an extension ladder and debris had landed in the middle of the road. In order to avoid the objects, the contact and the driver behind her attempted to make the same turn at the same time into the right lane which caused a collision. The driver and passenger air bags failed to deploy upon collision. The driver side seat belt also failed to release upon depression of the driver seat belt button. Due to the failure, the contact was trapped in the driver seat and had to be cut out of the vehicle by the county roadside assistance. Both drivers were treated at the scene and had their vitals taken, neither driver needed further medical assistance. A police report was filed at scene. Due to the accident, the vehicle was towed to an independent auto body shop where it remained under investigation. The dealer nor the manufacturer had been notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 165,000.

Repeated (7 shop visits) attempts to resolve srs (airbag) indicator activating. Two seat belt clasp replacements, I can recall. Honda refuses to honor vehicle occupant safety warranty to remedy repeated faults tied possibly to defective seat belt harness wiring estimated to cost $400-$1,100.
Air bag indicator ligjht came on when I started car.
Srs warning light. Dealerships trying to charge $110 to diagnose. Shouldn't Honda pay for this safety defect. We have been told a few different things by two different dealerships.

2004 Honda Element airbag light will not go off stays on constantly Honda refuses to fix without costing me more money this should be covered it is a safety issue free of charge. -----shame on you Honda !!. -----.
My 2004 Element light came on while driving one day. I had it serviced by a mechanic with set belt replacement. Did not help with the light came back on. Had it looked at by someone else who told me it was the airbag sensors. I really don"t want to keep spending money but it failed inspection because of this along with my driver side seat that is rocking. Driving and coming to a stop with any type of force causes the seat to jump forward. Even if I am sitting and if I move around my seat will move. Is there any type of permanent fixes for these problems. Our daughter loves her Element but, these are major issues for our family as they are and can have serious problems now and in the future.
The srs light on took car for recall on air bag srs light went off and now it on and want go off.
Srs light on. Honda dealer wants $$ to diagnose, but this should be a safety issue.
I get a dtc 4-1 code for open or increased resistance in front passenger seat belt tensioner. The seat belt is loose and does not thread itself back once unbuckled. I am trying to get Honda to look at this.
Takata recall hello, after taking my vehicle for the takata recall for the third time on 9/3. The srs sensor light came on and it is still on. Honda refuses to take a look at the vehicle without charging me first. My main concern is how do I know if the airbags are fully functional after Honda fixed the recall and now the srs light is on. Honda also refuses to test the vehicle to make sure airbags and seat belts are fully functional.
The seatbelt for the driver it does not retract properly and still loose after it buckle up also the seatbelt light is on all the time even after the engine is running. That is when the vehicle is stationary or in motion. I read in the owner's manual that the seatbelt has a warranty for the life of this vehicle.

I believe that the front passenger seat belt on my car is a safety hazard. This belt cinches so tightly that I must remove it while the car is in motion. It is equipped with the racheting system intended for a child safety seat. It is unsafe and Honda has no fix for this. BMW fixed my 5-series, and gm provided me a seat belt extender which somehow stops the cinching from occurring. A friend has the same car (older model) and she has disabled her seat belt because she can't breathe. Is there something which can be done to aid me in getting Honda to fix this scary situation. The problem is ongoing, there has been no accident. Thank you.

While sitting behind a car waiting to make a left hand turn 2006 Honda Element was struck from behind by a car traveling approx. 45 mph. 2006 Element then struck the car in front of it. Driver's side airbag did not deploy, nor did the seat belt grab, resulting in driver smashing face and ribs against steering wheel.
Brake system needs replacement constantly. Calipers get stuck causing brakes and rotors to get stuck and freeze up. Also brakes are on when driving.

Started with pass. Air bag light & pass. Seatbelt beeper & light. Have had it repaired 4 times but pass. Beeper & light has not been fixed. Spoke with Honda America in CA regional mgr morris said it doesn't exist in the 2005 Honda Element the manual is a misprint. This is a safety issue which Honda does not want to correct. It had worked before so my wife & I spoke to people with 1996 to 2008 Honda Elements and they all have a seatbelt light & beeper for the passenger front seat. Could you please help with this safety issue that has been going on for four long years. I believe Honda America is trying to deceive us. I even asked morris to put it in writing that it is a misprint in the manual but he said he could not do that. I also told him that I had spoken to other 2005 Element owners who stated their passenger seatbelts have a light & beeper but still insists that my car does not.
