I'm am told the component that failed is the "lower control arm. " the vehicle is available for inspection. At the onset of this problem was a loss of control of my steering. At first I felt a play in the steering wheel when I made a small adjustment in my turn and felt the car move more than what it would normally do. I thought it was the waves in the road due to frost heaves. Then within about 3/4s of a mile the left "lower control arm" separated from where it was being held and fell to the ground. I heard a dragging noise in the back left area of my vehicle and was fortunate to be in front of a parking lot and was able to immediately pull in out of traffic. The car was towed to our auto repair shop where I was told it was unfixable. I also called the Honda dealership and explained the issue, and was confirmed that the car is unfixable, and was told that presently the part causing this issue is being recalled in canada, but not yet in the USA. I wanted you to know that this happened here in the USA as well. I did not receive any warnings that there was an issue until it happened.

My Honda Element unibody has rusted out resulting in the real axle trailing arm separating from the vehicle. This happened while my daughter was driving - luckily she was not injured. This is a known issue at Honda. Honda Elements years 2003-2011 have already been recalled for a repair or reimbursement in canada (see recall # 2021024) and all Honda cr-vs in the united states model years 2007-2011 have also been recalled in the unites states for the same issue (NHTSA # 23v-228). This issue represents an extremely hazardous risk in the Honda Elements, as well as the potential complete loss of the vehcile. The recall for the Elements should be extended to the united states immediately.

Left rear (driver side) trailing control arm came out of the mounting bracket causing the tire assembly to fall off while driving on the highway. Lost control of vehicle and narrowly escaped a major accident. This defect has a recall notice in canada but not USA. I noticed similiar complaints on the internet about this problem which is a design defect by Honda with no good remediation. This could have caused a serious injury to myself and granchildren in the car.

There are two indicator lights for air pressure that come on and stay on without cause (pressure is normal) "tpms" and a symbol. It is a documented problem among owners online in group discussions. In addition, the suspension is faulty in that an unexplainable "cracking" and slicking noise has been duly documented among owners in the front tires. Several have reported this with an effective warranty but others have the issue post-warranty expiration. This should mandate a recall as it presents a serious safety hazard for the driver and all others on the road. The cracking noises can be heard when the vehicle istarts moving from a stand still position. Owners of the odyssey have also reported this problem on online forums.

When im going more than 35 miles the car is trying to stop. The vsa & engine light is on and took it to mechanic but still have the same problem. I have seen a lot of persons with the same problem. The odyssey has a recall with the same problem. Could you check if this a manufacturer problem. I can't drive my car am afraid something worst could happen. I had to buy another car and don't know what to do with the Element.
While driving my 2007 Honda Element "cs", just after entering a freeway southbound, while getting up to freeway speed, a loud noise began to come from rear of vehicle as if a tire or tires were coming loose. Once hitting 55mph the vehicle began to shake somewhat, yet still controllable. I pulled over & inspected the tires & wheels and could not find anything wrong. Continued into next city to dealership where a four wheel alinement was done & all tires rotated. Now while on cross country trip on 20 may 2012, this same issue has occurred once again on a set of new tires. The cambers cannot be adjusted on this model & year vehicle. Honda has made no effort to remedy this problem. It was corrected in the 2008 models & subsequent models. The tires wear unevenly & "cup" & could cause the tires to blow, either at the same time, one at a time or even just one leaving driver in a position of being unable to control car from rapid deflation of exploding tire. I have spoken with the service writer at the dealership where I purchased my Element cs & he told me Honda is fully aware of this. I spoke with Honda America & was told they are fully aware of this & they did not think ". . . This is a life threatening issue. " this issue is with the Honda Element cs only that I am aware of.
Our car, traveling at 40 mph was hit from the side at the left front, airbags deployed, significant damage to the left front. The tire and part of the axle were detached and about 10 feet from the car. The sheriff told us that he has seen this type of car in similar accidents where the tire and axel have detached from the car and found it unusual in this type of crash.
The steel wheels can't be balanced. As a result, vehicle bounces all over the road.
