general problems of the 2018 Honda HR-V

The car after a while drives sluggish & brakes very badly even after replacing the brake pads & the roater. I have replacement everything that could affect any of these issues.

On March 11, 2025 I took my car to gardena Honda for a fuel pump recall for my 2018 Honda Hr-v ex. On September 17, 2025 I had a system malfunction where the doors were locking and unlocking the dashboard went black and a car symbol with doors opened appear on the dash, the car shut off and I tried to brake but they did not work, I hit a car in front of me and when the airbags did not deploy I hit my mouth on the steering wheel and knock out 3 of 4 teeth that I had work done on. A scan tool was put on my vehicle when I got it home and there was two codes showing b00d5 occupant classification sensor fault and u0416 invalid data received from vehicle dynamic control module. I came to this website because I wanted to know was there any other recalls and found out there was 3 on the make model and year of my vehicle. # 135 vehicle brake system, low pressure fuel pump, and the fuel pump inside the fuel tank.

On September 17. 2025 I was at a red light on normandie avenue and exposition blvd the light turned green and as I was entering the intersection going southbound my doors on the vehicle started locking and un locking, my dashboard went black and the car shut off, the braking system malfunction, the airbag did not deploy, my knees hit the bottom part of the dashboard and my mouth hit the steering wheel knocking out several teeth. The dashboard only had an airbag code, a brake code and a vehicle with the doors opened on the screen. I had the car towed to my home and informed my insurance company of the incident, they referred me to a body shop who held my vehicle for 5 months after doing the body work, they labeled my vehicle unsafe to drive because the codes are still on the vehicle, not knowing that this body shop doesn't do electrical work. I reached out to Honda several times because they were the last ones to work on my vehicle for the fuel pump recall, but they noted vsa\abs for the last couple of weeks I finally talked with service manager marvin cabrera and he directed me to american Honda motors and after reaching out to them since the 3rd of February, they keep telling me about appointing an investigation inspection with the fts (field technical specialist) and I have not received any updates about my vehicle. These are the codes that came up while using the scan tool u0416 invalid data received from vehicle dynamics control module, b00d5 occupant classification system sensor fault, b0090 left frontal restraints sensor incorrect component installed.

1. The dealership assembled a new engine and pulse control module. 2. 1st issue was the car wasn’t in safe condition to drive due to knocking noise. 2nd issue is that the pedal wasn’t working properly as had to pull over to the shoulder and then the car wouldn’t leave from a parked state, brake light was on, and engine overheating. 3rd issue got car back with a smoke/cigarette/burn odor and jittering / stuttering when put in a stopped state transitioning to a moving state. 3. Yes, bill page Honda in falls church. 4. Yes 5. No warning prior to failure 07/28/car experienced loud knocking noise upon being turned on and got it towed to dealership on 07/29/22. Dealership got a new engine for the 1st issue and I picked up the car in September 2022 but upon driving it for the first time since the 1st issue, experienced pedal not functioning to accelerate and engine overheating causing me to get car towed back to dealership on 09/20/22. 10/02/22 picked up the car from the dealership and I noticed a burn / smoke odor left on the car. Let me be clear that neither I nor anyone who has stepped foot in my vehicle smokes so this was quire alarming. Also, while driving it I noticed my car started to jerk / stutter / hesitate whenever it was in a non-moving position transitioning to a moving position. 10/10/22 I returned my car back to the dealership due to the 3rd issue regarding the odor and jittering / stuttering issue. 11/30/22 picked up the car as the dealership informed me the car was ready with the issues resolved, however upon getting the car back and driving it back home I experienced the same issues and they didn’t resolve the odor problem. Even after the fact of bringing it to the dealership for the past 4 months, more issues keep surfacing making it more and more dangerous to handle my vehicle and I’m not trustworthy of it nor my dealership that’s been attempting to resolve issues under my active car warranty.

Flashing light park & red check engine appeared. Car would not move & was jerking & lunging forward. Stopped on road with heavy traffic & very concerned for my safety.

While driving sometimes I would have to step harder than normal on the brakes to get the vehicle to slow down for some reason felt like it wasn't responding well. I feel the fuel pump isn't running properly. When I was at a stop light and even while driving several time I would accelerate and would feel like it wasn't reasoning to me pressing on the gas pedal. Please help get this fixed almost crashed!! multiple times.

Leak thru rooftop and water coming thru the passenger side. Affected sensor transmission and brake system red lights turn on. Need to replace sensor transmission and rooftop.

Whenever I step on the brakes while driving on a bumpy road or any type of bump the brake pedal jitters heavily feeling like the brakes give out for that few seconds. Scares me to think that the brakes might give out or stop working.

Driver experienced car stalling after hard braking on two occasions. 6/19 and 7/19.

Tl the contact owns a 2018 Honda Hr-v. While reversing out of the driveway, the brake pedal traveled all the way to the floorboard when it was depressed. As a result, the vehicle would not stop and struck the house. The rear passenger side of the vehicle was damaged. There were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to piazza Honda of springfield (780 baltimore pike, springfield, PA 19064) where they kept the vehicle for two weeks and were not able to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The body damage was repaired. The failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 9,800.

The contact called bay ridge Honda at 718- 836-4600 (located at 8801 4th Ave, brooklyn, NY 11209) and was informed that the parts were not available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and was not able to confirm when the parts were to become available. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

I was parking vehicle going less than 5mi/hr entering into parking space. When I pressed the brakes instead of stopping the vehicle accelerated and I hit a post. Please see attached documentation of state farm claim and recall repair completed.

The contact had to shift the gear in neutral and then back into drive to correct the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 1,140.
