Power Train problem #1

While driving, multiple warning lights suddenly illuminated and the vehicle immediately lost power and became undriveable with no prior warning signs. I had to pull over for safety and the vehicle was towed to the dealership. The dealership diagnosed cvt belt deterioration and advised the transmission requires replacement. This sudden loss of drivability created a safety hazard because the vehicle became disabled while on the road.

Power Train problem #2

I am reporting a transmission failure in my 2022 Honda Hr-v at approximately 129,000 miles. While driving on the interstate highway at normal speed, the vehicle suddenly began revving excessively without accelerating. The engine rpm increased, but the vehicle failed to maintain proper speed or respond as expected. This occurred without any prior warning signs or indicators. Shortly after, the vehicle continued to have issues where it would shift into gear but not properly move or engage. All dashboard warning lights became illuminated following the incident. I took the vehicle to a dealership for diagnosis, and they confirmed that the transmission is failing. They reported finding metal shavings inside the transmission, indicating internal mechanical damage and premature wear. This sudden loss of power and inability to accelerate properly while driving at highway speeds created a serious safety hazard. The vehicle could have been rear-ended or caused an accident due to the unexpected loss of performance. A major component like the transmission should not fail in this manner, especially without warning, as it poses a significant safety risk to the driver and others on the road.

Power Train problem #3

Car transmission went out.

Power Train problem #4

A catastrophic failure occurred in the continuously variable transmission (cvt) of a 2022 model year vehicle at approximately 81,000 miles. While driving on the highway, the vehicle suddenly lost motive power; the engine revved rapidly without transferring any power to the wheels. The failure was diagnosed by an authorized dealership service center (documented on repair order #349133). The diagnosis confirmed that the transmission failed due to an internal component breakdown, stating: "found several metal debris found when draining and straining fluid. " the manufacturer (american Honda) has since confirmed in writing that the root cause was a manufacturing defect, effectively acknowledging that the failure was not due to wear, tear, or maintenance neglect. The problem has been reproduced and confirmed by the dealer. The component is available for inspection. This premature, total failure of a major powertrain component on a relatively new vehicle poses a safety risk due to the sudden loss of power while operating at highway speeds.

Power Train problem #5

At 85,500 miles, the car stopped in the middle of am intersection and would not movemunder its own power- after being towed to a Honda dealership, car was diagnosed with catastrophic transmission failure - only solution was to fully replace the transmission at a cost of over $9000.

Power Train problem #6

The contact owns a 2022 Honda Hr-v. The contact stated while driving 10 mph, the cvt transmission suddenly failed after approximately 50 miles of driving. The contact stated that there was an abnormal sound coming from the transmission before the vehicle lost motive power. There were no warning lights. The contact coasted to the side of the road and turned off the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who diagnosed that the cvt transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to another dealer, cape girardeau Honda (385 siemers dr, cape girardeau, mo 63701); who confirmed the first dealer’s diagnosis. The vehicle was not repaired because a replacement transmission was difficult to find. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and opened a case. The failure mileage was 98,982.

Power Train problem #7

Driving on the highway loud clunk heard and car started rattling. Pulled over to inspect underneath car and couldn’t see anything. Brought it to the dealership and they confirmed the rear differential seized due to a bad seal causing a leak and both rear cv axels broke. Going over 55 mph causes vehicle to severely shake.

Power Train problem #8

I was driving in the pennsylvania turnpike at 70 mph when suddenly, and without warning, the car refused to accelerate. It was in effect switched to "neutral. " I managed to guide the car to the very narrow shoulder of the turnpike. It was an incredibly dangerous situation. I was fortunate that there were no cars in the immediate area, otherwise I would have been hit. The car would not move in any gear. I took the car to the Honda dealership and they confirmed the transmission was shot. It will need to be replaced. The vehicle has 56,000.

Power Train problem #9

When driving on the highway at around 76 mph, the vehicle suddenly presents power loss and won't accelerate nor rev even if I step into the pedal all the way (no light in the dashboard). Going in the high speed lane, I had to stop in the shoulder lane and turn off the vehicle. After turning it on again, a couple of minutes later the problem was back. This would be the third time I have had the problem. Took it to Honda for a checkup and told them that no light came on in the dashboard, and also told them that the problem has been present when going over 70mph, and what they did is try to replicate the problem at 70mph.

Power Train problem #10

Vehicle loses throttle response multiple times a day while traveling on the highway or roads where slowing/stopping isn't frequent. Vehicle will be traveling 50-80mph and will not accelerate even with the pedal on the floor. Vehicle will either maintain speed or start slowing down, occasionally it will rapidly slow down. I will have to fully release the accelerator pedal and lightly slam it all the way to the floor and then the vehicle will decide to respond. A few times while driving in moderate traffic (30-45mph) the throttle will lose all response and will not respond to any pedal input at all for about 5-8 seconds and then will all of a sudden start functioning as intended again. I assume the third issue the vehicle is having with acceleration is related to the first two as well, occasionally it will have very slow acceleration when trying to get up to speed to merge onto the highway. It will take about ¼-? of a mile or about 45-60 seconds to reach 60-70mph. When this occurs I will have the pedal all the way to the floor from the beginning of a fairly long on ramp and by the end of the ramp I will be going no faster than 50mph maybe 55mph. I assume all of this is caused by the cvt transmission or possibly the ecu. I have contacted Honda regarding these issues and they stated that they are aware of these issues and that they are fairly common, and that they also believe that it is a transmission or computer issue, but there is nothing they can nor will do about it because Honda corperate requires them to diagnose every issue through the vehicles computer. So if the vehicle doesn't have a warning light or any dtcs (diagnostic trouble codes) set in the computer they can't (or wont) do anything about it eventhough there is clearly an issue that is entirely able to be diagnosed without a dtc. 90% of the time a bad cvt will never set a dtc. I don't speak on all this because I think I know, I speak on this because know I know as I am an ase certified master technician.

Power Train problem #11

The transmission is making a growling sound, also while driving at time when go to accelerate faster on freeway it stays where it's at even if you push pedal all the way down. Took to Honda dealer they acknowledge something is wrong with transmission but don't know what, so they want me to wait until a light comes on and to bring it back. I called Honda corp but they were no help at all. Told them I was only 2500 miles from being out of warranty and if they could extend the warranty but was told no, but they would note about the problem. I am worried about my safety as they do acknowledge that there is a problem but dont know what and want me to continue driving it. I drive lots of miles everyday due to the type of work that I do. I was told not to worry because even if transmission fails while driving I always have my brakes still. Not much comfort in that responce.

Power Train problem #12

This is a continuation of NHTSA id number: 11463644. Secondary issue is minimal acceleration output when entering the freeways. At times, it can take between 20-30 seconds to get 0-60 mph - creating a very dangerous environment with the vehicles behind me braking hard to avoid crashing into my 2022 Honda Hr-v sport. American Honda denied my claim to replace ecu and repair body damage to the vehicle after examination.

Power Train problem #13

This accident took place on April 19, 2022 - - ten days after I took possession of my new 2022 Honda Hr-v sport from the dealership - - sudden unintended acceleration. The facts are I came home on April 19, 2022. I drove slowly up the driveway. I stopped. I inched forward. I stepped lightly on the gas pedal. Then the vehicle suddenly accelerated without warning at high speed. The hard-hitting impact resulted in damage to the front of my vehicle. The building supplies on the driveway took the full impact of the accident. Otherwise, the vehicle could have crashed through the garage door and hit another vehicle - -likely resulting in serious injuries or death to myself and extensive property damage. American Honda denied my claim to replace ecu and repair body damage to the vehicle after examination.

Power Train problem #14

The SUV decelerated rapidly while driving uphill on the grapevine in los angeles. I was driving 70 mph and then the SUV's speed just started to drop and I was pressing down hard on the accelerator. This may haven been an issue with the engine or the transmission. My daughter and I could have been seriously injured or killed since we were surrounded by cars going 70+ mph and no one could have expected our SUV to decelerate so quickly on this stretch of highway. We really could not figure out what to do. The dealer said they could not replicate it, but I have had this happen more than once. I told them how serious this was, but they said they could not help me. . Read more...

Power Train problem #15

I bought the car at the dealership with 50,000 miles on it and purchased an extended warranty as well. I drive for a living with this car and after a few months noticed it would rev high before shifting. When I brought it back to the dealership they did something to it but did not say what. It smelled like they put catalyst cleaner in it though not confirmed. I then had the issue again and the car smelled like burning rubber. I took it to a Honda dealership and had the transmission fluid as well as the rear differential fluid changed but they did could not find any issues. Now that my warranty has run out and I have over 150,000 I had a tire shop where I was buying new tires inform me that the rear differential carrier bracket bushings were in need of being replaced as soon as possible. I could not afford for them to do it for me. I have researched online and have found this very well could have been the problem with the shifting and rubber smell the entire time. My car was under warranty and now it is not. Why is Honda not replacing this to prevent even bigger failure and repair issues. My son owns a 2019 Honda c RV as well and he says his car is experiencing the exact same issue.
