Two problems related to battery have been reported for the 2010 Honda Insight. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
When I purchased my vehicle, I advised the dealership that the car seemed to not want to assist as I was going up hills. I have taken it to the dealership, been able to duplicate the issues, but the dealership nor Honda sees anything wrong with the car. They state that their engineers see nothing wrong with the car not assisting someone as they are going uphill, at a steady grade. I have filed complaints with Honda, but again got no where. The car now is randomly not assisting at times, when the indicator in the ima system states that the battery has half a charge.
Car is 2010 Honda Insight. Car has small engine that needs assistance from electric motor. Electric motor helps the car during acceleration and climbing. The car should not charge the battery on climbs. As a result of this, extra load is added on the engine during climbs. With a 1300cc engine going up a grade, this could be very dangerous as you don't have enough power to climb at a certain rate other cars are capable of. If you visit Insightcentral. Net there are alot of complaints about this. Honda needs to re-program the cars not to force charge during climbs. I understand that if the battery was very low or drained that force charging on climbs are a necessary evil. But my battery was 75% full!!!.
