Eight problems related to vehicle speed control have been reported for the 1999 Honda Odyssey. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/19/2019

I was driving the car in heavy traffic when the engine shutdown and was almost run into by several cars behind and beside the car. The cars engine has been determined to be seized up even though there was no warning of either low oil pressure or high engine temp or any engine malfunction indicator. The engine has been regularly maintained. This cold have been a disaster had the driver of the vehicle had not taken heroic measures to get the vehicle safely pulled over and stopped. This action could have caused the driver and possibly the other vehicles beside and behind serious injuries and or possibly a fatality. I have done some research on this issue and there are others that this has happened to. Something needs to be done about this issue before someone loses their life over it.

: the contact stated while driving 20 mph on dry asphalt roads, the vehicle did not accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed all the way to the floor. There was no response. The vehicle was pulled to the side of the road, and all the warning lights illuminated. It was taken to a service dealer, who was unable to duplicate the problem. Updated 10/30/2006 - the dealer replaced electrical parts. The recalled part had been previously replaced when the recall was receibed about two years ago.

5 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 09/02/2002

While driving and applying brakes vehicle will continue to accelerate, causing damage to bumper. Dealer has been notified.

6 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 05/20/2002

Transmission failing. Clutch engages late and suddenly: engine revs as gas is applied but clutch doesn't engage, then clutch engages suddenly, causing car to jerk forward hard. This is dangerous--can't pull out into traffic, because I don't know if car will actually go when I step on the gas, and car coasts as transmission tries (but fails) to shift between e. G. 1st and 2nd. Please require a recall on this--many people have reported the same problem in auto newsgroups on the internet. This is clearly a manufacturing defect, and a potentially serious safety problem as well.

While going up a mountain engine check light came and consumer kept driving. Vehicle would not go foward, it kept going backards. Consumer feels this is very unsafe, especially for their kids.
