2000 Honda Odyssey, the electric sliding door does not shut all the way and there is possibility that it can open while driving at high speed, that can result in a very dangerous situation because mostly small children are riding in the back seat.
Sliding door don't open and close right, doors stay open at rear edge.
2000 Honda Odyssey driver side power sliding door does not close and lock properly.
Driving on i270 south towards 33 east at 65 mph with 4 teenagers and 1 8 week old baby in my 2000 Honda Odyssey and the rear sliding passenger door flies open on its own. My 6 year old daughter was sitting in the seat next to the door when it flew open. It scared her half to death as she was staring at the pavement going by at 65 mph. The door wasn't even on. I turn them off because I am afraid of them opening when they shouldn't after hearing all the stories about these doors. It's a good thing my daughter had her seatbelt on and sitting in her seat or this could have been very tragic. No one died this time. Why will Honda not see there is a serious safety issue here. The latch has been replaced numerous times and yet it is still failing to the point the door will not stay shut on it's own. Something must be done before someone dies here!!!.
I own a 2000 Honda Odyssey ex minivan with automatic sliding side doors. The driver's side sliding door has been malfunctioning for about six years, as it fails to automatically open and/or close using the dash switch, remote (key) button, or the door handle on the sliding door itself. The door will do one of the following: upon actuation of above opening methods, it will not open at all, but beep three times; open partially and stop - and beep three times; open partially, then close on its own; or successfully open. I estimate the failure rate for failing to successfully open to be approximately 66% - roughly 2/3 of the time. This van is used, at times, to transport children, and I consider this problem to be safety-related, as it is most-difficult to open this door manually - from either inside or outside the minivan.
Power sliding van doors will not close or open completely,we have to drive with infants in seats next to doors that will not close. If we were involved in an accident or any emergency that required immediate evacuation these faulty doors would prohibit timely departure from the interior of the vehicle and prevent any convenient access by emergency personnel. So far Honda is ignoring this major safety defect and cannot fix this problem.
2000 Honda Odyssey van. Both automatic sliding doors randomly open while vehicle is in motion with adults and children in middle seat.
I am owner of Honda Odyssey 2000. I have had problems with sliding doors on this vehicle from early on. After the warranty expired, I have had multiple failures on these doors and they have cost me hundreds of dollars. Dealer charged me $500 to fix these doors in my recent incidence. These repair charges are a highway robbery since I feel I should not be paying for what is clearly a manufacturing and design defect in the vehicle. Why isn't Honda recalling these vans and fixing these door problems once & for all?.
Automatic sliding doors do not retract when obstructed by a child. Several instances of doors narrowly closing on a child. This despite doors being repaired (at my own cost). Apparent obvious manufacturer defect.
My 6 year old daughter's finger got caught in the sliding door of our 2000 Honda Odyssey Mini van. The door mechanism failed to detect her finger in its path and proceeded to close resulting in contusion and abrasion. She was treated at an emergency care facility where they ruled out any broken bones (thankfully). Extreme human force was needed to pry the door open so that she could remove her injured finger from the closed door. This door has been checked in the past on 2 occasions by 2 separate Honda dealerships. Both determined that the door operated in compliance with the manufacturer's guidelines. I am so thankful that the outcome was not more serious as it could have been. I am only interested in getting the word out to other owners and find out what the manufacturer has to say about these circumstances.
Right passenger door has beeped on and off since owning it. Nothing could be done about it. Now the door won't work at all. We cannot close it manually or electrically. The dealership says it needs new rollers and motor at a cost of $1339. 00.
Driver's side automatic door opened on its own while the vehicle was being driven. Dealer made the correction. Currently, the doors jam by either opening or closing halfway consumer had to force the door by hand.
Transmission defect/extended warranty problem/pulsation of brakes when braking, slider doors sticking/loud buzzing sound (intermittent).
Sliding doors on Honda Odyssey (van) have the tendency to stick and not open without repeated eforts if not used for a day or two. In many instances the handle of the vehicle broke off. It is potentially dangerous, incase of an emergecy the childern in the car seat in the rear of the car can not be easly reached. The manufacturer is well informed of the problem but does not given it a serious consideration.
Doors do not slide easily, they stick and I notice a little bump protruding from just below each handle. Now the paint is starting to come off where the bumps are!!.
2000 Honda Odyssey lx manual sliding doors "sticking" problem solution: a) after attempting to open the sliding door, and it only "pops open" slightly and sticks; b) from inside the vehicle, push outward on the upper corner (of the sliding door) which is closest to the rear of the vehicle. It should push outward easily, and the door should slide open freely. C) apply lubricant to the upper rear corner of the weather stripping rubber: try silicon grease, or silicon spray lubricant, or graphite powder, or talcum powder. Problem solved. No more sticking when re-opening the previously stuck door. Its probably the physics of the pressure of the door against the rubber creating sufficient friction to prevent the door from "popping" completely away from the rubber weather stripping and thus preventing the door from sliding open.
Rear sliding doors stick and will not open. Dealer has greased the seals many times. This fixes the problem sor only a short time. This is a safety hazard as passengers in the rear cannot get out if the doors are stuck. This has been a problem ever since the vehicle was purchased.
The child was standing in the middle of the sliding door when it closed without the owner pressing the close button. The owner took the vehicle to the dealership. The mechanic had not resolve the problem.
Manual sliding doors stick to the point that occupants cannot get out of the car. It has taken two large adults (one pulling from the outside and the other kicking from the inside) to open the doors. Problem began in summer, 2003. We broke and had to replace one of the door handles in 11/04 because we were pulling so hard to get the door open. Complained whenever we took the car in for service, but our complaints never appear on our invoices. Therefore, according to Honda, there is no record of a problem with our doors. Honda's recommendation has been to lubricate the doors, but we never notice any improvement in the problem. My dealer just informed me that a service bulletin has been issued recommending the replacement of the door seals at a cost to us of nearly $400. As a "goodwill" gesture, they have offered to pay for the parts, but we will pay nearly $200 to correct this problem. This seems to be a safety issue that Honda should correct, but as the problem arose after our 30,000 mile warranty, they feel there is no obligation to fix the problem. I keep thinking about my children being trapped, perhaps with the car on fire, and wonder how Honda can treat the issue so casually.
Problems with passenger side power door since vehicle purchase. Door will not close completely, buzzer will sound. Repeated attempts to close door may/may not correct problem. Vehicle has been to dealership numerous times (5+) with replacement of door closer motor, re-alignment and adjustments. Door now nearing end of warranty period and is completely inoperative. American Honda contacted. Consider this a design flaw that should be covered under extended warranty by mfr.
The left sliding door malfunctioned every time it was opened due to the defect as described in the sliding door recall 00v119000. This vehicle was not included in the recall due to VIN.
While driving the vehicle the driver side sliding door would open. The door does not latch. Dealer has been notified. Ph.
There was a creaking noise coming from the passenger left side sliding door when a turn was made, the sliding door failed on 2 occasions, which caused the passengers to have to enter through the driver left side sliding door.
After it rains or there has been humid weather doors will not open. Took vehicle to dealer, and they replaced doors. But, outside handle problem is still occurring. Please provide any further information.
Passenger side rear power sliding door will not close all the way. Door slides fully shut, but then reverses about 1/2inch and is visibly not latched/closed. Also at times when door does visually close all the way, while driving the audible warning noise for an open door comes on but the dashboard indicator does not show which door. Depress the 'close' button on the right side power door will silence the alarm while driving, yet the problem reoccurrs. . . . It's tough to drive with that damn noise blaring and you also wonder if the door is really shut and safely locked? I'm taking the vehicle to the dealer on 5/30/02, but based on the complaints shown on NHTSA website for similar problems, I am uncertain whether it is even possible to satisfactorily and completely fix in one visit. I'm 12 miles from passing the warranty period on the vehicle. . . Called the dealer when I was 450 miles away but couldn't get appt. Until 6 days later. . . I cannot park the vehicle just to make sure I don't go over 36,000 miles. . . . I'm also wondering if they do fix, will future fixes if same occurs or if not fixed satisfactorily will be covered as the problem has started while under warranty. The dealer I am going to, hinshaws Honda has been in my experience in the past given 100% to all repairs, and I'm looking forward to getting the same honest and satisfactory service on this problem as I've had in the past. (or I'll be emailing the NHTSA again) I am doing this, to add my problem so if a recall is warranted, my problem can be counted.
While child was entering vehicle through sliding door, it closed on child's hand and broke finger. Dealer contacted. Please add VIN.
While traveling, the highway and without warning, the driver and passenger doors will come open intermittenley. The dealership is aware of the problem.
Both electric sliding doors would not close electronically. When electronic door is diabled, and doors cllosed manually --- the doors open while vehicle is in motion. Also door closes on it's own without intervention making it very dangerous for kids. Also doors safety system (not closing and crushing someone when in the path of closing electronic door) does not work.
Left power sliding door acts like it is locked even though all other doors not locked. Right power door will not latch completely. This was second time for this door, and has happened on left door previously.
Door lock system automatically engaged with infant in car in summer heat. Fire and rescue were called in an attempt to get into vehicle, but eventually had to break window to gain access and remove child. Minivan has been in shop several times for sliding doors not shutting and or locks not engaging, or doors opening while vehicle is moving on road. Honda refuses to accept responsibility, but has admitted to us in the past that they are having problems with the doors on this vehicle.
Power sliding door has closed on passenger while getting into vehicle. Dealer was not notified at this time. Please feel free to provide any further details on this matter .
Consumer had vehicle serviced for power sliding door. Consumer complained is that defect was not repaired, and door could crush a small child since it has enough force behind it to shove a 200 pound man out of way.
When trying to open sliding door with remote control it will not open. Sometimes could open on its own while driving.
3 previous times the electric doors went for servicing to the dealership. 3 times new sensors were installed. Last incident 1/28/01 the passenger's back door would not completely close/lock in place, and would not open either. A vacuum sound was made as the door would not properly close with air coming into the van. Similiar to cabin air pressure failure on a plane. It was terrifying as we had to continue to drive to get home and could not engage the door to shut. Thought it might disengage will in operation. No manual override exists for the electric door failure! afraid for family safety.
The passenger sliding door did not open when the door was unlocked from the inside.
