The tcs. & check engine lights turned on, gear would jam in, after a stop the car would not accelerate at all, would frequent jumps when the gear changed, cannot accelerate, after regular maintainence with oil changes n transmission fluid change, the issue unresolved. Diagnosed by 3. Auto experts as transmission issue that is associated with 1999- 2001 Odyssey models. Only 82540 miles. I am 2 nd owner. I am retired and need redressal of this issue as I can't afford serious repair costs.
During the safety inspection the fairfax Honda dealer informed front motor mount cracked and need replacement. Car mileage 85k. A month (2/21/2011) back, I had changed timing belt assembly with the same dealer but they didn't inform about motor mount condition. Yesterday (6/19/2013) the same dealer during the safety inspection service called to inform the van is failing the safety inspection due to rear engine mount crack. Considering the expense and experience about another vehicle diagnosis, I preferred to hold the repair and investigate further. After reading the on-line blogs and cartalk website, it seems the Honda Odyssey vans has this recurring problem with the engine mount failures. I have owned the van since the year 2000 and maintained regularly through the dealer service all my other Honda or Acura vehicles. To my amazement many vehicle owners complained similar recurring problem, so I took some time to report. I strongly favor a recall on this major safety part of the most popular family van. Honda seems to ignore our calls and continue use same suspension component. I am prepared to join the group for a class-action law suite for vehicle repair. Already making decision not to own in future Honda vehicles if nothing is done about it. Thank you for your support on serious safety recall issue current and future owners will experience.
2001 Honda Odyssey. Consumer states problem with transmission the consumer stated according to the Honda owner link website there is an automatic transmission recall for the Odyssey minivans. When the consumer took the vehicle to the dealer and mentioned the recall, they didn't respond. They just diagnosed the problems as a slipping transmission, a new ecu was needed, the front and rear mounts were broken and the right front and left rear struts needed to be replaced. The consumer took the vehicle to an independent shop and they concluded the transmission was indeed failing. The recommendation was replacement or a complete overhaul.
The vehicle experienced the following: out of alignment, loud bang/ticking, shaking, engine hesitation, inoperative a/c, a contaminated filter with metal shavings, a/c drain tube was rubbing and draining on the steering rack boot, coolant reservoir was empty and the right front seal on the body was damaged due to it being improperly placed, a/c knob was broken, the a/c airflow automatically changed, when the a/c blower motor speed decreased, various dash lights would dim, the hood latch was defective, static shock problem, there was a coolant smell, due to the reservoir fluid level, the sliding door was inoperative, the transmission was defective, the crankshaft pulley and the steering wheel vibrated, the right door seal had come apart, the splash shield clip was missing, the idle speed fluctuated from 750 to 2000 rpm with the vehicle in park/neutral, and immediately after, the mil light had come on. The repairs are as followed: wheels aligned, a/c condenser and compressor evaporation dryer, intake manifold, reinstalled rear evaporator/heater unit, installed a drain tube in the retainer bracket, hood latch was replaced, pcm replaced to solve the transmission problem, removed the broken bolt from the block, the crankshaft pulley vibration is still unresolved, and the slash shield clip has been replaced.
