This complaint is a correction to complaint 11375900 which referenced an incorrect recall number. Removal of the ignition key when the gear selector is not in park allows the vehicle to roll away when on a slight incline. This symptom is identical to recall 12v573000 which my Honda dealer says applies only to model years 2003 and 2004. However the recall notice says it could apply to vehicles manufactured as early as November 2001. My van was manufactured in 11/01.

Got a letter saying there was a recall for a 2002 Honda Odyssey with the airbags but I do not own that car anymore. That car was in an accident and is gone now.
If I turn off my car, while leaving the shift position out of park ( such as in r, reverse) I can then remove the key from the ignition. This is a safety issues as the car will roll if the parking brake has also not been applied.
I have had transmission problems and fuel pump problems . Had the transmission fixed twice in this van twice. And now car is jerking and mechanics say it's the fuel pumpl I had nothing but problems with this van not operating been taking it to mechanics they tell me it's the transmission I get a used one put in and now van jerks and stalls mechanics fix sensor it doesn't work change fuel pump this van ha been nothing but problems and after researching I find out there have been transmission problems with these cars and doesn't look like there has been a recall on the transmission but a lot of complaints on 2002 Odyssey's. I spent all kinds of money on trying to get this van fixed. For the last 7-8 months. I was driving the car started having problems so it took it to two mechanics they told me first it was the transmission I had a used transmission put in that had 60;000 miles on it the second incident driving the van on highway 60mph the car started jerking and stalling. Finally had the car towed to mechanic they couldn't fix it and sent it to a dealer . This car has been nothing but problems. Apox date started having problems July 2017.
Ignition switch malfunction. While driving down the road the van will die but if you bump the key the power to everything turns back on it started this last year and continues to do it.
Transmission is going bad. A/t system malfunction.

Hi I was driving on the west bound of russel pkwy. Once I stopped at the traffic light then pushed accelerator which started back van on the road again and within two minute, car died there and I was trying to start engine still did not work. I kept trying multiple times but did not work. I called 911 and I got help and we pulled van to the parking area. Then I tried again and my van back to normal again. So, I was lucky to happen on the local road within slow speed and back vehicle with was distant. If happened on the highway, then it would be disasters. I looked on the web site and seems like ignition switch problem. There was recall on it but it was not on this VIN vehicle. So, I am going to check vehicle by authorized dealers. I will update you ASAP.
Transmision sarted to not shift properly fluid leak gear stays on drive with blinking light.
The car is s stalling and bubbling. It is like im in nuetral all the sudden.
I purchased Honda oyssey at dealer "the auto center" 3110 petaluma blvd. North petaluma CA 94952 and was not told that there was a transmission recall on these vans (recall #04v176000). I have not been able to drive comfortably and at long distance. My mechanic told me that the transmission is wearing off thus contaminating the transmission oil increasing the chances of extreme heat on this part. He recommends having the transmission replaced.
For a few months now I have noticed that when I make left turns, whether from a stopped position or a speed of 0-5mph, the van jerks and slows to a almost stop. I am afraid that it will shut down and cause a very serious accident one day. I have called Honda a few times to inquire about it and nothing is being done. The breaks are only a year old and seems to work fine but there is a noise every time I push the brakes. Not the usual bad brakes sound but like a tapping sound. Also the 2 passenger sliding doors will not close or open at times as well as the back windows. The motors has been changed in the panel box, please what could it be and is there any help Honda should be doing as they have stated these problems aren't under warranty?.
2002 Honda Odyssey. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle recall notice and unsatisfactory customer service at dealership. The consumer stated after the recall was performed, the vehicle stopped working. The consumer stated the vehicle was in perfect working condition, before the recall was performed.
Passenger side sliding door came open about 10 inches while I was driving down the interstate. The power door quit latching and the door ajar light was on randomly. For the rest of the trip, we had to keep pressing the button to shut the door every time it came open. We also had to move the kids around so that no one was sitting in the seat closest to the door. This same thing happened with the driver-side sliding door two years ago. Very expensive fix, not to mention, young children riding in the van and having the door randomly pop open is dangerous and a liability issue. I see on the internet that this has been a very common problem with the Odyssey. It should be recalled. This could be very poor pr for Honda if someone's door comes open and a child falls out.
Drving home at about 20-25 mph. Came to stop sign then as I stepped on gas to go found the gas pedal very hard to press on van felt heavy. Tcs light came on and check engine light. The van would not speed up more than 10 mph!!!!!!.
When slowing the car (pulling into the garage and pulling into a parking spot) the car has accelerated when I have applied the brake pedal. This has happened multiple times. The incident was reported to our local Honda dealer. They said they were not aware of any problem.
At right around 80k miles the van started severely slipping between 2nd and 3rd gear. Took it to dealership and they told me I needed a whole new transmission for $5k. Do not have money for new transmission. Stuck to driving it below 35mph for the last two years, that leaves me in a 6 mile radius. Can not even drive it to the dealership. I and the original owner. This car was babied and always serviced at Honda. Feel this is a known issue by Honda and they are refusing to acknowledge a faulty transmission in these vehicles.
