1 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 02/05/2026

Vehicle was inspected, vehicle is leaking fuel, but it's difficult to spot, but I have to put fuel on it daily, tcs goes haywire almost caused me to crash because the tcs sensors are near the tires, and engine crank sensor issues, vehicle does not do last gear shift, and rear door stopped working.

2 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 03/15/2017

Engine, suspension or unknown ?: three of the 4 motor mounts are broken and not supporting the engine. The one remaining motor mount is under extreme stress and can fail anytime. I have had two dealer service managers confirm this problem and both have said that they are not covered under any warranty or recall. Both have warned me that it is not safe to drive because if the last mount fails it could cause an accident. The condition of the roads and freeways make it very hard to avoid pot holes and I hold my breath every time I hit one to see if the motor is ok. Electrical: 1. After I had the air bags that were recalled replaced there is an electrical ?? problem that turns the radio on and off (I can usually change it by beating on the steering wheel but that doesn't always work. ) 2. Occasionally when I remove the key it continues to beep until I beat on the steering wheel. 3. Often when I hit a bump in the road there is a loud electrical (cracking like a short) sound in the speakers that sometimes I can stop by beating on the steering wheel. If it doesn't stop I pull over and turn the car off and restart it. 4, the door and slider locks do not work on the passenger side with the remote or the locks on the driver's door. I have to roll the window down so a passenger can unlock the door or slider manually. These problems have been going on for the last 2+ years. I am a very low income 75 year old senior who can't afford $1000+ to replace the failed motor mounts. I've put out $750 in the last year trying to solve the electrical issues and transmission flush.

3 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/26/2016

1. Starting in early July 2016, my Honda Odyssey began randomly accelerating on this own, without a human depressing the gas pedal. While in drive, the car accelerates on its own. 2. When this happens, I have to press extremely hard on the brake to get the vehicle to stop. Then, when I place the car in park, the rpm increases to between 5,ooo and 7,000. Again, this is without a human depressing the gas pedal. 3. This issue seems to occur when the air conditioning is turned on, and it feels like the cruise control system is taking over even though it's turned on. 4. This issue doesn't always happen immediately once the car is turned on. It sometimes takes a random amount of time to manifest itself while the car is being driven. 5. I've faced this issue at least 15 to 20 times over the past 2 months. 6. Obviously, this issue is extremely dangerous and may result in severe injury or death for the driver and other motorists. And therefore, it must be dealt with immediately. The Honda dealer said that there is nothing wrong, but only checked the vehicles cpu. This is insufficient because, as indicated above, the cpu will not register an issue in idle mode or when the problem isn't actually happening.

7 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/15/2014

Passenger airbag light came on for a few seconds while driving at highway speed limit. Then vehicle seems like the transmission was slipping or took a few seconds to engage from a starting movement forward leaving a stop light. At idle the tachometer started to rev between 1100-2000 rpms at standing ilde in park. The sliding doors get jammed stuck when attempting to open from the dash controls. I know these could cause and accident and not be able to get NY children out of the vehicle via the sliding power side doors. Vehicle was purchased on 12-12-2014.

8 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 11/23/2014

I owned 2003 Odyssey for years (approx. 125,000 m now), last week I drove on the highway about 70 mph back home then suddenly with no power, luckily, the car after me was too far to hit me. I pulled the car over to the shoulder and restart again. The engine light is on. I managed to drive home in 20~30 mph. Checked online and found out Honda did recall for the transmission issue but still can't solve the problem. Really love this van, still debating how to do it, not dare to drive now. Honda should take the full responsibility to solve this issue, no matter who owns the van. Not just care about the company’s profits and ignore the tragedy will be happened anytime. As a car manufacturer and humanity, Honda should know live is priceless.

9 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/22/2014

I was driving on highway 95 south when my car would not accelerate while I was in the middle lane. I quickly attempted to switch to the right lane as there were many cars and trucks on the highway. I finally pulled the car over to the shoulder when it began to smoke. I do not believe it was a fire, but I am not sure. I do believe it was the transmission. This transmission was replaced by Honda about 6 years ago b/c of a faulty transmission.

11 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 04/03/2014

I brought my Odyssey to the Honda dealer for an oil and filter change on 4/3/2014. While there, the service advisor, ron DE atley, informed me that my motor mounts were failing. When I questioned that this sounded like a manufacturing defect that should be subject to a recall, his response was that they replace so many motor mounts that they always keep a good supply in stock. This would seem to strengthen my position, not his.

12 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 03/15/2014

The van started losing power right after the tcs light appeared. I slowed down to 45mph when I lost all acceleration and coasted to the side of the road when the vehicle stopped. The car is reported to have broken gears and the clutch in the automatic transmission that had a recall on it that reported it fixed.

13 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/11/2013

Transmission failure on highway. Apparently this is a known transmission failure issue with 2nd gear. Honda indicates it was "fixed" by recall, which obviously is not the case. Honda will not fix as just out of warranty window.

14 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 03/28/2013

2003 Honda Odyssey was brought into the dealership for an interlock recall. After work was completed and leaving the dealership the vehicle shuddered violently. This was not the case when the vehicle was brought in.

15 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 03/04/2013

The engine motor mounts crack or fail prematurely. Defect is unrelated to driver behavior and is solely a function of design. Failed mounts can both cause accidents and create a projectile from impact. On-line research, such as the car talk community, suggest this is a widespread problem with Odysseys over 65,000 miles.

16 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2013

The car has an automatic transmission system. I was driving just fine when the transmission slipped and it felt like the car was in neutral. I was pressing the gas, but no power was given to the car. I could brake and steer just fine so I pulled over and put the car into park. It engaged into gear fine and I continued on. This continued to happen slipping in and out while driving. I wouldn't even have to stop and put into park, I would slip "out" of gear and feel like it was in neutral. I would pump the gas a few times, and rev up the engine and then it would magically engage into gear. Honda dealership stated the transmission was bad, stated that pieces of metal were in my fluid and my entire transmission needed replacement. Estimate $2k-4k - will know more when they break it open to find out. Honda America states that I had taken the van in for the transmission recall in 2005 - I don't recall doing that, but if I did why is it happening? now the van will not pass the CA smog test simply for functional check portion. The emission portion is fine. Seems the repairs exceed the value of the car. Working with Honda America to get warranty or recall to offset the cost of repair. At this point, the car is deemed non operational.

17 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/04/2012

18 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/30/2012

I can take my key out of the ignition while in drive. Because of the setup of the shifter, and the short space between gears, it's not apparent that the car's not in park, and fairly common for me to remove the key while in drive. I've not had this problem with other cars. Several times I've taken the key out and the car started rolling a little before I stepped on the brake and put the key back in and shifted to park. About 4 or 5 weeks ago I parked at a strip mall in front of a store, and when I came back out my car was backed up against the car on the other side of the aisle, having rolled back about 15 feet. Fortunately there was no damage. Another time my wife went shopping and came out and the car had been in drive the whole time (about an hour) but fortunately the parking lot was flat.

19 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/11/2012

Difficulty shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear. . . I called Honda care services and I was told that my vehicle is out of warranty and they can't shoulder the cost which is unacceptible given that this van had been recalled for transimission issue and many owners had failed transmission. I like Honda vehicles and recommended to my family and friends but after this incident I will never buy another Honda product again.

I was driving my car told the dealership my car jerk he told I need a fuel injection. I paid for a that service . Was driving my kids home from school when the car jerk 3 time repeatly so bad we all go scared. My husband drove the care to the dealership. They did a diagnostic test and told me it was the torque chamber in the transmission would cost 4500. 00 dollars to fix . As a hard working american I feel duped and stupid. Next day, another lock up + slipping between 25 & 35 mph and @ 50 pm. Transmission slips and gear shift will get stuck in park, reverse & drive. Rpm revs high. Thank you for your help in this matter.

28 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/25/2010

Top alternator mounting bracket failed for the second time in one month. On first failure at night, headlights became very dim while vehicle was operating causing danger to occupants and other motorists. On second failure vehicle was close to home and no immediate hazard to driver or other motorists. Research shows this is a known component failure to Honda and nhtsb.

29 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 04/24/2010

Honda of clear lake in webster, TX informed me that all the motor mounts were broken and needed to be replaced on my 2003 Honda Odyssey with 61,711 miles on the odometer. The dealership wrote $$$$$$$$$$$$ for their estimate. I've read online many other Honda Odyssey owners with the same complaints. The motor mount designs are defective to have failed so soon. There needs to be a recall. I replaced the motor mounts on my Toyota corolla at 180,000 miles for a comparison.

30 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 02/20/2010

I have a 2003 Honda Odyssey. I was entering the highway from the on-ramp. The car failed to shift at around 38 mph. The engine revved to the red line but, the car didn't accelerate. I almost got into an accident. I took the car to the dealership recommended by the guy who has serviced my three previous Hondas. The dealership fails to acknowledge there is an issue because they couldn't replicate it during a 30 min test drive. After reading the other complaints, I am convinced I have the same issue. I am hoping and praying that I am lucky enough to not get into an accident when this problem appears regularly. The problem started couple of weeks ago and it has continued to happen a couple of times each day. I just don't know the exact condition it recurs.

32 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 02/04/2009

The contact owns a 2003 Honda Odyssey. While driving between 40-45 mph on normal road conditions, the automatic transmission slipped and began shifting erratically between gears. The engine revved extremely high and then the rpm's decreased to zero. Suddenly, the vehicle resumed to normal operation. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnostic testing, but they could not duplicate the failure. On a separate occasion, the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for an identical failure. Currently, the vehicle is being repaired. The transmission and engine control module were replaced. The failure mileage was 20,334 and current mileage was 110,000.

33 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Traveling at 65 mph the transmission failed without warning. No warning lights, no slippage. . . A complete failure. I managed to get into breakdown lane before transmission had completely seized. I was driving with my 72 yr old mother and 3 children, ages 4,6,8. I feel very lucky I was not involved or caused a vehicular fatality due to this failure. All recommended maintenance had been done at dealerships. A compete vehicle inspection was completd the day before the incident.
