I was driving on the street approximately 25mph, suddenly the steering wheel locked up on me. The vehicle had approximately 270,000mi on it. I checked american Honda recalls and found a recall order. Copies of he documents enclosed. I reported the problem and explained the circumstances of the problem. I was told that recalls are VIN specific and vehicle does not show anything on their records. I made and researched and found the documents which I've enclosed copies with this complaint. I was told to talk with Honda dealership so they could advice me about the problem. I went to norm reeves Honda, as much as I did, I was ignored, no one listened, all I was told was call back american Honda in which I said I have done. . They did not do anything to check on it and no explanation about it was oven except their records show a part number that upon my insistence for more info, I was totally ignored. The recall notice was issued Feb 22, 2013 titled, "electrical system ignition switch" which clearly explains the issuance of the recall order. . Although the 15 year warranty has lapsed since the issuance of the order. If there was something done on the lever, they did not replaced or did anything on the ignition switch which is the only reason that I see is connected with what happened to the vehicle and my safety and the public's.
The interior roof of the vehicle caught fire and burned after the car was turned off. The smoke started while driving and the smoke was coming from the drivers side seat belt area where it connects to the frame top.
Interlock shift issue. You can remove the key from the ignition while in drive. The issue was initially corrected via a recall. The issue is now happening again. Dealership/ Honda is not willing to fix it because they didn't duplicate on a level surface. It repeatedly happens when I pull into my driveway which is on a slant. My concern is that the car started rolling while my kids were getting out of the car. Major safety issue that I cannot get addressed. This issue is intermittent and doesn't always happen like they say it should. The vehicle is stopped at the time of issue. It occurs during the process of turning off the car and exiting the vehicle. Dates it occurs since June of 2017. Mileage was a little less than 159000 when it started again.
My ignition locked up ladt year after year if it hanging up had to be towed to dealer where they fixed the recall in the ignition but stated the locking up was unrelated. It is less than a year and it is hanging up again but this time it intermittingly will not catch to start liike a dead battery if you try abt 3 times it starts. Called dealer they do not care and neither does hinda case manager they just want you to get pass air bags fixed. I want all fixed at once. This will be third trip for airbags. Dealers so far away as have to rent car . Told them I was not renting car again as I found out they gave some people loaners. Anyway I need ignition fixed and I do not want to wait til it has to be towed. I think it is a bad part related to the other ignition recall snd so fors my mechauv. Patt has to be under warranty frim last year but they woulnit even look it up just kept telling me to come in forair bag. I want one apt and I want to make sure it is know the ignition period should be a recall. The van was stationery when I attempted to start it and was on strret highway parking lot etc as it happened many times. It could any time start locking up when one is driving and one can not get key out . No pics as it just looks like a ban and an ignwith key.
Torque converter and transmission went out on vehicle. Everyday as driving main streets or highways while accelerating the car would feel like its gone into neutral for 5-15 min varying. And will pick back up on acceleration. Took vehicle in for inspection I was told the transmission is going out. When I took it in for repair was told the transmission went out due to torque converter over heating melting a part to the coolant system and also damaging the transmission. I tried to pull recalls completed on vehicle but nothing show for the at particular part but I u dersrand there was I need . What will be the protocall for possible reimbursement on repairs.
Transmission failed after being brought in already for the recall.
Dash cluster lights started dimming tcl light comes on and off. Cruise control works then revs high on highway. Reversing sometines clunks hard.
Transmission started slipping badly at under 140,000 miles. I am original owner and have always used dealer as the mechanic and for recalls or services. I had higher expectations from Honda cars, to go longer. The price they quoted me for repair was over 5000$ just for the transmission. The service was poor and I am very disappointed! they even charged me 115$ just to tell me my transmission is slipping (which I already knew)! the car started slipping on a Monday night. It was late. I used the car to drive my son to school at 7:30 in the am ( 1. 5 miles from my house) and the car would not go in gear after stopping to let my son out. I was blocking the school drive and had to have the car towed to Honda. It was clearly not safe to drive. The dealer service was not great, even after going there and buying my car there all these years. I know there has been a recall related to the transmission and I feel that it was not properly resolved!.
Automatic door on drivers side does not latch fully and will come open when driving.
My car 2003 Honda Odyssey won't shift d3, d2, d1.
My wife had the accelerator stuck at full throttle with cannon/weathertech floor mats today and it gave her quite a scare, especially since our ten year old son was also in the vehicle at the time. She had it floored to pass a slow moving vehicle on a two lane highway when the issue occurred. I couldn't figure out what was going on because with the van off and in the garage, if I pushed the pedal all the way down, it had plenty of clearance between the pedal and the floor mat. However, on further inspection, I noticed that if you pushed down on the mat approximately where your heal would be, it pushed the mat down into a depression in the floorboard and caused the front lip of the mat to raise up. When the lip of the mat was raised up, it would catch the accelerator pedal and cause it to stick. To remedy the issue we cut a big piece out of the front lip of the mat and then verified it had proper clearance even when pushing the mat down into the depression in the floorboard. We've had these mats over ten years and this is the first time this has happened to us. I hope reporting this will enable a recall or something to prevent others from getting killed or injured. I realize this is an aftermarket vehicle product but hope you are still able to help. I figured out the source of the issue by researching and discovering that this has happened to others as well. . I was driving at 30mph with my 2 small children when all of a sudden my car lost power and would no longer exceed 20mph. I put my hazards on and pulled off to the side of the road I then turned my car off and back on again which helped for a few short minutes before doing the same thing all over again. I continued to do the same process over and over again until I was able to get home I took my car to the dealership I bought it from this morning only to find out I need a new transmission I just bought this van 2 weeks ago I am the second owner.
I parked my car and took the key out of the ignition. Only problem was that the car was still in drive. I know this was an known issue (recall) with the car. I had it fixed at a dealer to address the recall on this specific issue. Obviously it didn't fix the problem.
I was driving my van with my two kids in it when I noticed that the van was jerking frequently and there was no pick up. The rpm went to 4 and 5 thousand but the speed was not able to go beyond 50 and 60 mph. This incident occurred while I was on a freeway. When I took the van to our usual mechanic shop, they found that it was a transmission problem. Getting a new transmission was very expensive and I had to settle for a rebuilt transmission. After researching online, I found that this is a common issue with Honda Odysseys built during the year my van was built. I would like for NHTSA to ensure Honda pays for our repairs and ensures the company fixes all remaining vans on the road with this issue.
Was driving my wife and 4 small children to decatur,al from huntsville,al to the riverwalk and out of nowhere started feeling a small shake and then very noticeable frightening full vehicle shaking which startled my family and frightinged myself,I really thought we wete about to have a wreck. Let off the accelerator and it started to not be so violant in the shaking, and then accelerated slightly again and there it was again, and I believe it may be the transmission. I am not a mechanic but upon doing some recent research I see that it is either failed rear or motor mounts or even the tranny what ever that means. But if it is a failed defect then they should address this because this is disturbing and unsafe to me,and my family never made it to the riverwalk. Why do we pay so much gor a vehicle and then can not get any help other than funds we hardly have?.
The vehicle was unable to accelerate and the check engine light and tcs lite were on and showed to a Honda dealer and he replaced a faulty electronic component. Exact same thing happened and showed again and now they say it is transmission problem and it needs replacement, costs $4900.
I was driving down the road at 20 mph and I had to use the brakes, my car jerked suddenly twice while I was gently pushing the brakes (as if I slammed on them twice). I accelerated slowly and once I got back into second gear my car wouldn't catch and started to make a whirring noise. Once it got past second gear it drives slower than usual for the amount of rpms being used. This is a serious and dangerous problem. It's only on the second gear that it glitches up. I know this car has a lot of miles but it has a newer motor and we have kept up on the fluids for the vehicle. It should not be acting this way and I expect a recall on this promptly. Every time I drive my van it is not like it use to be. It's slower and as stated before the rpms it uses should makes its speed faster but the speed slowly increases while the rpms increase drastically and quickly. I want this fixed and I want this fixed now!! I will not allow my children in this vehicle because of the way it's acting and it is completely unsafe for anyone at this point. I will be contacting corporate if needed. I expect a response from Honda promptly.
Car was running on city road and suddenly stopped running and check engine light came up immediately. It was good that I was not busy and not running fast or not in the freeway, and there is no car behind my car. I stop engine; after sometime I started and it was running again and after 20 minutes it stopped on the road again. I drove to a nearby Honda service center for checking and they gave me documents that said a transmission replacement needed that cost more than 6,000. I drove back in my parking lot and park there and did not drive on the road again. I tried in the parking lot and found it runs when the car is cold, but when it heated it stop, but after sometimes it run again. I do not feel safe and do not drive this car on the road. Some of my friends also brought the same car and they faced the same problem after 100,000-180,000. If a car transmission failed like this and if it happen on the freeway with 70 speed it can make serious accident. Honda CO. Must recall this model and fix this problem.
I recently had airbag recall work on my car. All of a sudden, 2 days ago my doors unlocked while I was driving. I relocked them and a few minutes later they unlocked again. This keeps happening. I am thinking that this is related to the recall work that was done about a month ago. This is a very dangerous situation. I don't know if any other owners have reported these occurrences. I spoke to Honda and they told me I have to take my car to the Honda dealer that did the recall work to check out the problem, but I would have to pay the dealer to check it out. I don't think this is fair. Please note that I did not have an accident. Your system forced me to put in an accident date to be able to send you the complaint.
I paid $9,998. 48 for my Odyssey. I bought it used. I was told that all the maintenance was up to date and they showed me the paper work indicating that as well. I also took the van to a shop to be sure that all the maintenance was up to date. I bought a 5yr/100,000 mile warranty from the dealership where I bought the van as well, just to be sure that if anything was to happen I would be covered. I put less than 40,000 miles on my van when it left me sitting in the middle of the highway with my three kids in the van on my way home from work. I was driving home from work when my van started acting crazy. I was driving and the rpms would go from 2 to 5 and the van would slow down. It kept doing this, when suddenly I was at a full stop. I had the vehicle in drive and was pressing the gas pedal but the only thing that moved was the rpms. The van would not move at all. I have only had my van for 2. 5 years. I keep all the maintenance up to date and took very good care of my van. Now this van that I paid dearly for is sitting in my driveway and will not move. I had it towed to a shop and the mechanic said that the diagnostics indicated that my transmission has failed and needed to be replaced. The warranty company that I purchased my warranty through is now saying that they will not cover the cost of replacing my transmission. There is something very wrong with that. Now my kids and I have been without a ride since before thanksgiving. What kind of help can I get with this? can anyone please give me some information?.
I was driving on highway 95 south when my car would not accelerate while I was in the middle lane. I quickly attempted to switch to the right lane as there were many cars and trucks on the highway. I finally pulled the car over to the shoulder when it began to smoke. I do not believe it was a fire, but I am not sure. I do believe it was the transmission. This transmission was replaced by Honda about 6 years ago b/c of a faulty transmission.
Dear sir/madam: I am an original owner of a 2003 Honda Odyssey, and one of many victim of Honda transmission faulty transmission. A transmission recall was performed at 20, 398 miles on July 2004. In that recall, Honda stated that ¿certain operating conditions can result in heat build-up between the countershaft and secondary shaft second gears. ¿ that could lead to ¿gear tooth chipping or, in very rare cases, gear breakage. ¿ it is possible that the transmission could lock up, increasing the chance of a crash. Instead of replace the faulty transmission that was originally installed on my Odyssey, a Honda dealer installed a line jet kit to provide additional lubrication to the gears. In June 2014, my van started to show signs of transmission failure at 93,128 miles. The second gear is very hard to shift and slipped even locked from time to time. In two of the cases, a rear collision almost occurred without warning on a busy highway. After I consulted two Honda dealerships and was told a transmission replacement is needed. I paid $3,000 to replace the faulty transmission out of my own pocket. Honda denied the responsibility, but only offered 25% for the total replacement cost of nearly $6,000. I believe that Honda should be responsible for the faulty transmission and the 2004 transmission recall did not solve the problem. I request n. H. T. S. A. Investigate whether Honda¿s 2004 recall is a temporary fix of the problem and still put the driver at risk, and whether the recall have solved a safety problem. I am very sure that I am one of hundreds and thousands victim of Honda faulty transmission. Please start the investigation for public safety and health concerns as soon as possible.
2003 Honda Odyssey. Consumer writes in regards to amount paid for vehicle.
My 2003 Honda odyessy with 114, 0000 miles transmission problems. Rpm gear go up and down.
2003 Honda Odyssey was brought into the dealership for an interlock recall. After work was completed and leaving the dealership the vehicle shuddered violently. This was not the case when the vehicle was brought in.
I took my 2003 Odyssey for ac compressor relay replacement when I was informed the front engine mount needed replacing. I was surprised to hear this and I found out through my web search that it is a very common problem with Odyssey model. This is a design flaw and a safety issue for me and my family. . Read more...
