I never had issues with my van when I bought it but on Monday got all the fluids drove to phoenix and the transmission got hot the tcl light and abs light turned on as well as the srs light no check engine the floor on the driver side and passenger side was super hot. The transmission on 1st gear start hitting hard 2nd gear started slipping we pulled over right away let the car cool down but the transmission level where normal motor oil was at normal we did the oil service transmission service the dealer I bought it from has did amazon service I don’t really drive it only to visit my kids. I looked up the recall and my van has a lot of them I’m worried of driving home to California I’m in phoenix so I hope the dealer will fix the recall when u put the year of the 2003 Honda Odyssey my VIN switch to a different one on your site please help.
Van accelerated when applying the brakes this happened twice so far.
1. Starting in early July 2016, my Honda Odyssey began randomly accelerating on this own, without a human depressing the gas pedal. While in drive, the car accelerates on its own. 2. When this happens, I have to press extremely hard on the brake to get the vehicle to stop. Then, when I place the car in park, the rpm increases to between 5,ooo and 7,000. Again, this is without a human depressing the gas pedal. 3. This issue seems to occur when the air conditioning is turned on, and it feels like the cruise control system is taking over even though it's turned on. 4. This issue doesn't always happen immediately once the car is turned on. It sometimes takes a random amount of time to manifest itself while the car is being driven. 5. I've faced this issue at least 15 to 20 times over the past 2 months. 6. Obviously, this issue is extremely dangerous and may result in severe injury or death for the driver and other motorists. And therefore, it must be dealt with immediately. The Honda dealer said that there is nothing wrong, but only checked the vehicles cpu. This is insufficient because, as indicated above, the cpu will not register an issue in idle mode or when the problem isn't actually happening.
Honda refusing to address the following recalls on my vehicle Jan 16, 2003 - NHTSA# 03v014000 - fuel system April 15, 2004 - NHTSA#04v176000 - power train December 11, 2012 - NHTSA# 12v573000 - electrical system vehicle was towed to braman Honda of manhattan located at 627 11th Ave new york NY on June 6, 2016. They have had my vehicle for 93 days. On September 8, 2016 they call me to tell me to pick up my vehicle and they are not completing any repairs because there are no current outstanding recalls for my vehicle. The above mentioned recalls for my vehicle were never addressed by any Honda service location.
Tl- the contact owns a 2003 Honda Odyssey ex. The contact stated he has been getting a fuel odor smell on the back of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was diagnosed to replace the gas cap. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 210,000. Rk.
The car has an automatic transmission system. I was driving just fine when the transmission slipped and it felt like the car was in neutral. I was pressing the gas, but no power was given to the car. I could brake and steer just fine so I pulled over and put the car into park. It engaged into gear fine and I continued on. This continued to happen slipping in and out while driving. I wouldn't even have to stop and put into park, I would slip "out" of gear and feel like it was in neutral. I would pump the gas a few times, and rev up the engine and then it would magically engage into gear. Honda dealership stated the transmission was bad, stated that pieces of metal were in my fluid and my entire transmission needed replacement. Estimate $2k-4k - will know more when they break it open to find out. Honda America states that I had taken the van in for the transmission recall in 2005 - I don't recall doing that, but if I did why is it happening? now the van will not pass the CA smog test simply for functional check portion. The emission portion is fine. Seems the repairs exceed the value of the car. Working with Honda America to get warranty or recall to offset the cost of repair. At this point, the car is deemed non operational.
Purchased 2003 Honda Odyssey new in 12/2002. Had issue with trouble light within weeks of purchase. Dealer said it was nothing to worry about. Transmission began to slip at 25,000 miles and got worse. Dealer replaced the transmission at 35,000 miles. The trouble light would come on from time to time and dealer would turn it off. A few days ago, the transmission would not move the vehicle and I had it towed to the dealer. Dealer says I need a new transmission. I have done no trailer towing or any other unusual uses of the vehicle. All of the 157,000 miles have been over the road or in town.
