1 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/09/2017

The contact owns a 2004 Honda Odyssey. While driving various speeds or while parked, the engine would suddenly rev to over 5,000 rpms. The vehicle accelerated without warning. When this occurred, the brake pedal was depressed to the floor and the vehicle failed to stop immediately. The contact stated that the vehicle was currently unable to shift from park. The failure occurred on several occasions. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 178,000.

2 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/24/2014

The contact owns a 2004 Honda Odyssey. While driving uphill at approximately 45 mph, the vehicle made a beeping noise and the entire instrument panel illuminated. The vehicle felt as if it were losing power. While driving downhill, the contact depressed the brake pedal, but the vehicle failed to stop. The parking brake had to be engaged in order to stop the vehicle. The vehicle stalled once it stopped. After forty minutes, the vehicle restarted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 84,950.

3 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2009

I have received many notices about several different recals.

4 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/25/2008

The brake pedal pushes almost to the floor before the van responds to braking. I have had multiple procedures done on the brakes by several mechanics and it has not fixed the problem. I usually pump the brakes when I am stopping because I don't have confidence in the braking system and by doing this, the braking system responds better. It happens at all speeds. I purchased this van used in 2008 and I noticed the mushy brakes at the time of purchase and was told that the brakes were fine. The dealer said Hondas' brakes are known to be mushy. The brakes have gotten noticibly worse over the years.

5 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/10/2008

Braking is "soft" or brake pedal has to be pushed very low before brakes will engage. I have had this problem for about 2 years and had the brakes checked numerous times and no one can fix it.

6 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/08/2006

Passenger air bag is turning off frequently. There is always a strong crack when you press the brake. There is a decoloring passenger air bag place. It eats gas if you turn on the back air conditioner. The passenger console had a big vibration. The Odyssey has gone to the dealer more than four times for the same reason but it's never fixed. They said those claims are normal for a model 2004.

7 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2004

Multiple failures. Brakes problem, transmission, rough idle & engine surging, steering column controls and others. The automatic door would not open or close, the transmission did not shift properly and the dealer was unable to duplicate the problem. The brake pedal shuttered, the brakes would catch without being applied. The consumer was told the steering column control switch had a short, however the next day the horn honked and there was an odd noise in the steering column and the interior lights flashed multiple times.
