Fuel Pump problems of the 2006 Honda Odyssey

Tl the contact owns a 2006 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated while driving 55 mph, when he started feeling sleepy. The contact stated that there was an abnormal fuel odor inside the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the fuel pump was replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 14v112000 (fuel system, gasoline). The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

After driving fuel smell from rear of vehicle and fumes enter cabin at times while driving. Inspected for leak found liquid fuel drips from top of fuel tank, removed interior compartment access panel and found spider cracks in the top of the fuel pump housing. As soon as vehicle is started the fuel seeps from the top of the fuel pump. Will need fuel pump replacement. In process of contacting manufacturer - Honda.

The contact was able to shift into neutral, which allowed the vehicle to immediately restart. The most recent failure occurred while driving approximately 30 mph. He had an appointment to take the vehicle to the dealer at the time of the complaint. The manufacturer referred him to the dealer.
