1 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 07/18/2016

I recently bought vehicle have not made first payment. Salesman told me soft brakes are common on Honda. Brakes have failed three times at very slow speeds. Have service report for this vehicle. . . Brakes have been replaced often. This vehicle is not safe. There's air in the brake lines.

2 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 07/23/2012

With less than 27,000 miles of driving the brakes continue to accumulate air into the brake lines through the vsa module. Bleeding the brakes reverses this problem. I took the car to the dealer 3 times. Twice the performed the "recall" service which temporarily restored the brake pedal to like new service. The recall fix bled the brake lines to purge the air and cover the cap which admitted the air with a silicone substance. The third time the dealer said the soft pedal was "normal" despite the fact that bleeding the brakes reversed the problem. Now the van with recurring bad brakes problem has a failed vsa module, the source of the problem. The module now needs replacement at a cost over $1400. This is a faulty part which the dealer or Honda did not correct. I have several close calls when pressing the brake pedal to the floor barely stopped the vehicle before an accident occurred. After several frightening near accident incidences I have been driving the van as though there was a problem with the brakes and increased stopping distances. The failed vsa module also affects steering the vehicle. It works in the background and I don't know how much the steering has been affected. I know minivans are hard to stop. My Dodge caravan had a long stopping distance and wore the brake pads down in 15,000 to 20,000 miles. There never was a soft pedal problem with those brakes. I was very pleased to buy a van that had "good brakes" but am disappointed that this Odyssey defect has jeopardized myself, my family and others by repeated problems with the brake functions and Honda's inability to acknowledge this recurring problem or to fix the issue by replacing the integral but faulty part of the vehicles safety systems. Taking the air out of a hydraulic system without preventing recurrence is irresponsible. Placing customers lives at risk is shameful.

3 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 06/09/2011

2008 Honda odessey - brakes engage by themselves. This has happpened 3 times. Traveling at speed limit (~45 mph) and suddenly the vans brake pedel engages and stops the car by itself. Dealer flushed brake line and refilled - said it coulod be caused by air in the line. Dealer said there was nothing else they could do unless they could duplicate the problem.

4 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 04/07/2011

Brakes automatically applied during acceleration from 20-50 while entering busy highway slowing vehicle nearly to a stop. Managed to avoid approaching traffic and limp off the highway at the next exit. Problem reoccurred as I took side road back home. Problem also reoccurred as I took vehicle to dealer to diagnose the following morning. Dealer was unable to recreate the problem or provide solution. Problem persisted and vehicle was returned to the dealership two more times in 2011 with no resolution as well. Now 2013 with over 40,000 miles on the vehicle (out of 36,000 mile warranty), problem persists. Driver has learned to pull over and turn engine off to reset electronics necessary to temporarily overcome the issue. Still no diagnosis or resolution by dealership or Honda. This is not an issue caused by warped brake rotors, worn brake pads, or air in brake lines. Ecm/pcm software updates in Apr and may 2011 were fruitless. I suspect that the problem is in either a sensor, a primary control unit, or software operating such.

5 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 10/28/2010

Continue to have soft brakes even after vsa recall. Brake did tighten up and the became soft again. Brakes still continue to become soft after recall work. Brakes have been replaces along with new brake fluid and bleeding of brake lines. No change after work was completed.

6 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 05/17/2010

I own a 2008 Honda Odyssey minivan with 35,000 miles on it. I purchased the vehicle new from gillman Honda of houston, texas in July of 2008. The reason I am writing is that we have had on going problems with the vehicle and Honda keeps assuring us there is nothing wrong with the vehicle. The problem is that when I apply the brakes, even for a semi hard stop, the brakes sound like they are grinding metal on metal and the brake pedal almost hits the floorboard. I have taken the vehicle in three (3) times to the local Honda dealership and each time they have given me a different story. What has not changed is that they advise all Odyssey van owners report the same problem. What I would like to avoid is being the owner that leads a major recall because a crash resulting from defective brakes. I did receive a recall notice last week reporting a defect in the breaking system that was allowing air to enter the brake lines resulting in a soft break petal but again, I was reassured the brakes were in good working order with plenty of pads remaining. Again, I would like to summit this letter in an effort to determine just how many other complaints have been reported and if a fix can be made to this problem. Thanks,.
