1 Body problem

Failure Date: 11/28/2025

White pearl paint of my 2014 Odyssey is peeling on the roof, almost all of the paint has peeled off on the top front part of the roof and this seems to be a common problem with this paint color and year of Odyssey.

2 Body problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2025

Driver side sliding door fell off, cable broke first then the door fell off while manually opening. This resulted in extensive damage to the body and almost cause physical harm.

3 Body problem

Failure Date: 09/22/2024

The sliding doors will pop and stop in the middle of closing and opening. Have checked all the assembly and nothing is in the way of tracks. It has closed on several riders as it opens. Have to switch the switch several times and it will still not reset. It almost hit someone in the head while exiting the van. This has been going on for years but a body shop said that there is no recalls and they have several complaints about the issues too.

4 Body problem

Failure Date: 01/10/2023

The paint has bubbled and peeled from the top of my car in large flakes. I have 4 places greater than approx 6x5 inches where the bare metal is exposed. This should not happen, and I not no one in my family has ever had this happen with their cars.

5 Body problem

Failure Date: 06/06/2021

Paint is flaking off top of car and before that on driver side rear door.

6 Body problem

Failure Date: 05/03/2021

Pearl white paint peeling to expose the primer on the door, hood, roof, tailgate and the edge of the gas tank door. The recall expired in 2019 and I was never notified about the paint recall. I found out in 2021 when I took the van into the dealer to repair mechanical recalls because I had to ship the vehicle out to hawaii. The dealer took pictures and sent a claim to Honda, but it was denied. Honda customer service was no help at all and could only direct me to a dealer, which I believe the dealer did what the could by taking pictures and submitting an estimate and claim on my behalf.

7 Body problem

Failure Date: 08/11/2020

2014 Honda Odyssey power door does not seem to latch all of the way. 80% of the time when the door is opened, a popping sound can be heard. When the door is opened it is always in a stationary position. I have concerns the door will open involuntarily while in motion.

8 Body problem

Failure Date: 03/06/2019

Both automatic sliding doors failed. When opened manually, the drives side sliding door completely popped out and fell off. The vehicle was stationary in a parking garage and had not been used for 8 days. I do not know what component broke to cause this. Attached picture is our best attempt to put the door back on.

9 Body problem

Failure Date: 10/27/2018

While traveling northbound on mountain view corridor at approximately 55 mph the sunroof in my 2014 Honda Odyssey exploded. I have traveled this road many times, it was a beautiful day with mild temperatures and light traffic. I bought this Odyssey new. It currently has just over 69,000 miles on it. There were no homes, businesses, parking lots, or anything of the kind around me. No overpasses, power lines or otherwise. There is no explanation for the explosion. I heard a loud pop that I thought was a gunshot or large something hitting my car. I pulled off the road, turned on my hazards, and felt something hit my arm. I looked up to see that the sunroof had shattered. I've never heard of anything like this before. After reading online that many others had had similar experiences I felt like I needed to report it in hopes that others might not have to have the same scary experience (which could have ended much worse), inconvenience, and expense.

10 Body problem

Failure Date: 07/03/2018

While driving on the highway at approx. 55 mph, I heard a clicking sound and a hissing wind sound coming from the windshield on the front passenger side. It felt like the windshield was being pulled up and you could see the edge of the windshield molding flapping in the wind. Also, the front passenger door side window was moving back and forth hitting the window frame.

14 Body problem

Failure Date: 06/10/2017

The rear passenger door on the driver's side does not close properly. It constantly re-opens after pressing the close button or using the handle and must be forced closed manually from the outside of the vehicle. It has gotten progressively worse with time. We try to not use that door which is a safety concern as that is the door closest to me for my children to use. And the other day when my daughter accidentally forgot and used that door, I shut it and we went on to our errands, when we returned to the van the door was wide open, obviously it automatically opened as we left. It is a huge safety issue. I have contacted Honda corporate and they have refused to do anything as it is out of warranty. At 4 years old this should not happen. My last Honda oddessey was a 2009, it did the same thing, aaa had to come one day while I was stuck at the gym and could not get it to close. They had to cut the wires on the door to close it. Now that this has happened twice, I have done a little research online and seen this is a common problem. It is a safety issue and should be handled by a recall.

15 Body problem

Failure Date: 03/08/2017

Nhtsa recall 16v-933 and possibly dangerous windshield frame. I called american Honda motor CO. Regarding nhrsa recall 16v-933 and windshield apparently coming apart from its frame. American Honda motor CO. Refused to discuss these issues with me; referred me, instead to a local dealer. I called the local Honda east dealership, 702-369-3099, only to be told the all technicians were too busy with more important matters, but that I could leave my phone number and one will call me when one becomes free. That was yesterday morning, March 8, 2017. As of this morning, March 9, 2017, i10:33 am, I have received no phone call from Honda east. Honda case no. 5766404.

16 Body problem

Passenger side rear door will not open under any condition. The door will not open manually or via the power door feature. This limits the egress from the vehicle.

17 Body problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2017

Contacted "dave" at Honda to inquire whether Honda is prepared to deal with the 2nd seat recall. This "chat" session with "dave" is a total fraud. Try it. Dave does not exist. The only notice I have received from Honda regarding this recall stated that Honda did not have the necessary parts. Honda website states that I must bring my vehicle in immediately because my life is at stake. Yet Honda cannot tell me that it can fix the problem. Also, I noticed today that the bottom windshield seal or support that holds the windshield in place has buckled in numerous places and is about to come off entirely. This would permit water to enter the engine compartment and create a driving hazard. It might also permit the windshield to come loose. I suspect that this is not just my vehicle, but is likely a problem with all of the Honda lineup. I don't know when this happened, so I cannot answer that question.

18 Body problem

Tl-the contact owns a 2014 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while driving the passenger's side of the vehicle was very hot to the touch. The vinyl was very hot to the touch. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for a diagnostic testing who stated the heater line is not isolated. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 3600. Rg.

22 Body problem

Failure Date: 07/22/2014

2014 Odyssey has been changed to include a progressive driver side mirror from the normal flat glass mirror. The glass in the mirror is designed in such a way that objects appear blurred and distorted causing difficulty focusing while looking thru mirror. Took car to dealer, they confirmed issue and stated many customers complain about same thing. Contacted american Honda at dealers recommendation. American Honda contacted dealer and confined. At this time american Honda is stating it is a "design feature" of the vehicle. Not sure how distortion and blurred vision with a safety device is a "feature". Asked american Honda to document their position, they refused to send me any documentation stating the information collected is proprietary. Did search of progressive mirror and there are hundreds of complaints.

23 Body problem

Failure Date: 05/23/2014

In March of this year, began new lease for 3rd Honda Odyssey after having two previous and loving them. On may 23rd, my van had no sound of left (driver's) side upon starting my vehicle. Problem resolved itself and has not reoccurred. Two days later, however, turn signals began malfunctioning with continuous blinking after being turned off. Van was looked at at dealership to no avail, as problems did not reoccur for them. On vacation, I was stranded with a broken fuel door and driver's side passenger door that was temp fixed by dealership there. On way home from vacation, cruise control intermittently did not respond correctly when in use in both the set and resume functions. Upon returning home, dealership fixed fuel and passenger doors, had van for a week to address issues that are more electrical/computer-related in nature, but could not replicate, nor isolate problems. Van returned to me with bluetooth connectivity issues. Turn signals and cruise control continue to malfunction, and driver's side passenger sliding door occasionally will not open all the way.

24 Body problem

Failure Date: 04/16/2014

The right side rear lift area has had a metallic rattle since the car was six months old. It's been to Honda four times for this complaint without finding or eliminating the rattle. Honda replaced the lift arm assemble during the last visit. Now the door binds and will not close without assistance with my hand.

25 Body problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2014

Bought vehicle in March 2014. We have had numerous problems with our power sliding doors. At times they won't open all the way, sometimes wont close all the way. Sometimes they won't respond at all whether you try to open or close them. Sometimes they do not unlock and it takes multiple times of trying before they finally will. I have pictures proving these malfunctions. The dealer says they can't find anything wrong. I also have problems with the back hatch malfunctioning. It hops/jerks and makes grinding noises. Sometimes it hops/jerks so much that it actually shakes the whole vehicle. Also sometimes the power button does not always work when trying to open it. Mechanic was able to duplicate problem, but the service director insists that it is normal. Initially they did not want to fix it,, but after being persistant with them about this issue, they replaced the rubber gasket around the door to see if that would fix the problem. To date it has not fixed the problem, it has actually gotten worse. I also had a problem with the driverside sliding door making a loud screeching sound when I unlocked it from inside the vehicle. The mechanic took the door apart and greased it and so far this has helped. I also have problems with the doors not responding to the key fob. Sometimes it takes multiple attempts to get it to respond properly. There also seems to be alot of wind noise and you can feel the drafts. The driver window also vibrates while going up/down. I don't know if my vehicle is a lemon or not, but it sure does have a lot of problems with the transmission, electrical, the doors. Etc. I have filed several complaints that describes them all. I originally had a 2010 Odyssey and it had less problems than this one.
