All cars slow down on the on the highway at construction area due to some debris flow. I slow down immediately. After that my seatbelt belt not retracting (stop working) and air bag sign was displayed. I took the car to the dealer and also contact Honda (corporate) by live chat. Honda corporate mentioned the following warranty is part of the seat belt, srs system, and airbag. As per the Honda warranty, all repairs must be complete without any charges. But I got the attached invoice(cost of repair) to fix the issue with the srs system, seat belt, and air bag issue. According to the Honda warranty app parts and labour must include I opened a claim with Honda (case #14025524) but so far I didn't hear from them. As per my understanding safety issue related to my car must be fixed without any charge. Also, dealer must communicate with Honda. So far I open a claim with insurance but not required because Honda must take care of or look at the seat belt/air bag/srs system. As per my understanding issue with srs system and airbag are related with seat belt (part of on function) see attached diagnosis report from Honda dealer. Continues for 15 years or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first. Warranty coverage Honda will, at its option, repair or replace any Honda seat belt component that fails to function properly during normal use. This includes all parts and labor charges.
7 year old in 2nd row passanger side seatbelt would not release and would only get tighter and tighter. Seatbelt got tighter and tighter around his belly causing pain and crushing his stomach. I had to cut the seatbelt to get him out. Tried pressing every button and opening and closing car door, locking and unlocking and restarting car, but nothing worked. The more we tried to pull on the seatbelt, the tighter it got. The seatbelt would not release or give any slack to get him out. I am taking car into the dealership for a dianostic this coming Friday.
# what happened my 7-year old child (around 50 pounds, 4'ish feet) was in the 3rd row seat and attempted to put the seatbelt. As she was doing this, she somehow managed to get knotted with the seatbelt around her stomach (see photo). Attempts to loosen the seatbelt did not work as the seatbelt seemed to have locked up (even after putting the car in park) # detail 1. We were coming back from newport, ri when we ran into this issue. 2. I pulled over and we immediately started working on un-ravelling the seatbelt (since it could potentially cut off circulation on the child) 3. Even after stopping the car and putting the car in park, the seatbelt would not slack and loosen. The child had clearly got tied up in the seatbelt. I would expect that the seatbelt would slack (aka: not lock up) and allow the knot to loosen and for the child to come free. However that did not happen. Despite numerous efforts to wiggle free and pull the seatbelt for slack, nothing would give. 4. We finally managed to find a scissor and cut off the seatbelt. As soon as the seatbelt was cut off, it made a cranking noise and coiled back into the restraining system. . Read more...
The contact owns a 2015 Honda Odyssey. While driving at 50 mph, a deer entered the road and the contact suddenly applied the brake pedal to avoid hitting the deer. The passenger side seat belt failed to retract and the contact's face struck the dashboard. The contact sustained injuries to the face, which did not require medical attention. The local dealer (riverside Honda in marquette, 2025 us-41, marquette, mi, 49855) was contacted and an appointment was scheduled. The manufacturer was notified and stated that the failure would have to be investigated. The failure mileage was approximately 48,500.
