On Friday, may 19, 2017 we brought our van into maita Honda for an oil change, a recall notice, and for the blemishes on the van to be removed. On Monday, may 22, 2017 we noticed that the van was leaking gas; we could smell the gas and see the puddle it left. On Tuesday morning, may 23, 2017 we brought the van in to the dealership to address the issue. The dealership stated that there is a crack in the gas tank and that it had been banged up pretty good, probably with something on the road. They indicated that the damage was not caused by their car lifts. They said that it is not covered under warranty and it would cost approximately $1,400; that we would need to submit a claim to our insurance company. They said they would take pictures and write an estimate and provide us with them. I believe that this damage occurred while maita Honda had our van for service on may 19, 2017. Therefore, I expect maita Honda to replace the gas tank with a new one at their expense. The dealership claims that this damage was the result of a road hazard; according to them, something must have hit our plastic gas tank. This damage occurred while in the dealerships possession. At this time, I do not have additional documents to provide as the van is still at the shop/dealership.
