99 problems related to other fuel system have been reported for the 2019 Honda Odyssey. The most recently reported issues are listed below. Please also check out the statistics and reliability analysis of the 2019 Honda Odyssey based on all problems reported for the 2019 Odyssey.
On may 2nd, we drove our 2019 Honda Odyssey xl-e to church, and as soon as we pulled into the parking lot, we started to see smoke coming from our front hood. We exited the car. Within 30 seconds, the car then went into flames, and exploded and the car is now unsalvageable. When I went online, it seems like this is a common occurrence with these Honda Odysseys. There were no warming lamps, messages, or lights that would have alerted me that something this serious would occur. We have taken our care to Honda for years for regular maintenance. We don't take it to any independent shops. Strictly to Honda for years. The most recent checkup/service was performed on February 11, 2026 where they performed the following services which they had recommended. 1) oil change 2)engine coolant flush with conditioner 3)transmission fluid change: 4) wheel alignment 5)fuel tank additive, throttle body service, and injector. This is serious safety event and our family and children could have been killed in this accident. We have pictures, videos, police report, and the car has been taken to a salvage yard. We have filed a claim with state farm.
I was driving to work on April 7th, 2026 and parked the vehicle at my company parking lot. Prior to parking, I noticed unusual smell and then parked the vehicle. I parked the vehicle around 8. 10 am and I got the call from my facilities manager around 8. 30-8. 40 am that my car caught on fire and by that time I noticed houston fire department extinguishing the fire. There were no check engine sign and this vehicle is a brand new vehicle when I purchased. Though there is no recall associated with my VIN #, the fire issue is similar to recalls for 2019 Honda odysey. The recall numbers are 23v-751( engine fire recall) & 20v-066 ( electrical wiring fire recall).
[incident description & manufacturer's bad faith] on April 6, 2026, an authorized Honda dealership (mcconnell Honda in montgomery, al) diagnosed my vehicle (2019 Honda Odyssey ex-l, 143,097 miles) with dtc p219a (rec replacing fuel injector set and fuel feed pipe at this time), requiring a fuel injector replacement. This exact mechanical failure is documented in Honda’s official service bulletin 21-010. The bulletin acknowledges that defective fuel injectors can cause engine misfires, loss of motive power, and engine stalling while driving. These conditions present an immediate and severe safety hazard. Honda established a 150,000-mile warranty extension limit for this defect in TSB 21-010. My vehicle has 143,097 miles and is well within this limit. However, american Honda corporation has arbitrarily refused to repair the vehicle. Furthermore, on April 21, 2026, the assigned Honda case manager left a voicemail officially denying the repair. He explicitly refused my repeated requests to provide this denial in writing. In the voicemail, he falsely stated that my vehicle at 143,000 miles is "well outside the range" for assistance, directly contradicting Honda's own written 150,000-mile bulletin. Please review the attached documents, including the official dealership diagnostic report (dtc p219a), the repair estimate, and a copy of TSB 21-010. I have also secured the audio recording of the case manager's voicemail to prove their bad faith. Honda is knowingly leaving a dangerous vehicle with a confirmed, documented fuel system defect on the road, while actively providing false information to the consumer to avoid repair costs. I strongly request the NHTSA to investigate Honda's deceptive and dangerous practice.
My car issues a emissions systems problem, upon bringing it to the dealer it was identified that the fuel injector system failed. This is a known issue with 2019 Honda Odysseys. Upon running the VIN on my vehicle, it was found it does not qualify under the extended warranty even though this is a known issue.
Vehicle intermittently loses propulsion during acceleration when merging. Engine rpm remains low despite throttle input. After a delay, transmission re-engages abruptly with a metallic scraping noise. This creates unsafe merging conditions. This happened today, 2/14/2026 in 4 instances in the same trip. It has also occurred approximately 50 other times over the past six months when the mileage was as low as 66,100 miles.
My 2019 Honda Odyssey had an emissions code come up with obd ii sensor code of p219a which led to research revealing that the code was a result of fuel injector failure. I took my van to the dealer who revealed that based on my VIN, I am not eligible for the extended warranty issued by Honda in 2021. This has resulted in a $1900. 00 repair bill that should be covered based on history and problems. Ref: [xxx] and [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
"emissions system problem" engine warning light has been on for quite some time. I know there is a service bulletin related to this issue, but my VIN is not covered. There are also several other warning lights that occasionally pop up, and my Honda dealer believes these are all related to the initial warning light. They mentioned that sometimes these systems start shutting down so the vehicle runs properly. Recently I received "transmission system prolem" (in conjunction with the slew of warning lights I have frequently been getting). No apparent issues until recently when I was driving on the interstate. The engine started to become very loud and when I looked at the rpms it was very high, over 5,000 rpms. The car wasn't shifting out of first gear at 55mph. I immediately slowed down and got off the interstate as soon as possible. After arriving home, we unhooked the battery, re-installed, and all of the warning lights were gone. Again, the Honda dealer believes all of these issues were realted to the "emissions system problem", which is part of a service bulletin that should be covered by warranty extension. I beleive my VIN should be included, and the recent transmission system problem which happened on the interstate was very dangerous and could have ended very badly, had I not been in tune with what was happening.
Life-threatening acceleration lag: the vehicle is experiencing severe power loss during critical driving moments, for example, while entering intersections or attempting to re-accelerate into moving traffic. When I attempt to speed up, the engine fails to respond initially, leaving the vehicle stranded in the path of cross-traffic. The engine finally engages only because I am forced to floor the accelerator pedal out of necessity, which then causes the tires to squeal when power eventually returns. Intermittent starting issues: the vehicle frequently fails to start smoothly on the first attempt; a known symptom associated with the fuel pump impeller deformation described in recall 23v-858. Vcm shudder and hesitation: I am experiencing the distinct vibration and rhythmic shudder associated with the variable cylinder management system. This symptom is most prominent during deceleration or coasting; specifically, when I lift my foot off the accelerator without applying the brakes, the system triggers a noticeable shudder as it incorrectly manages cylinder engagement/deactivation. Suspected catalytic failure (codes p0420/p0430): both catalytic converters are exhibiting inefficiency codes simultaneously, which are highly atypical and occur well before the expected component lifespan. This clearly points to upstream defects. Specifically, the catalytic substrate has been poisoned by carbon and phosphorus deposits from the documented oil-burning defect and has suffered thermal damage due to the improper fuel mixtures caused by the defective high-pressure fuel pump (recall 23v-858).
The emissions warning comes on and off, the Honda dealer said it's a fuel injection system issue. Noted that NHTSA has issued extended warranty for this issue on 2019 Honday Odysseys but my specific VIN is not included. Nhtsa needs to extend this issue to additional vins having this issue as Honda is not covering it.
Accelerator pedal becomes non-responsive while driving. Honda has addressed some of the affected vehicles.
Fuel injector went out while driving known problem Honda only recalled some of the vans not all.
I went to my van, and many alerts were going off on the dash about multiple systems failing and not working. I got the van to the dealer who said it was the fuel injectors that needed replaced. I found a service bulletin about this saying american Honda is extending the warranty on the fuel injection repairs to 10 years from the original date of purchase or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first. The dealer said there was not a recall on my VIN and there was nothing they could do and I was forced to pay for the repairs.
The fuel injectors emaeem to be malfunctioning and the obd for emissions is lighting up. It has been inspected by the dealer and confirmed it needs to be replaced. The obd code is p219a and this causes misfire and potential stalling of the vehicle. Honda has issued several tsbs but none have my VIN. Some of the tsbs are TSB a18-025, TSB a21-010 and TSB onln9403292021. It has been inspected by Honda dealer and confirmed to be a issue but no action unless I pay them a lot of money. I would like to see if NHTSA can help to add my VIN number to the list or help me get Honda to repair my vehicle.
While parked on Saturday, 9 different warnings popped up including fuel emission issue and brake issue. Tried to restart the car and failed. Came back later with a jump start kit assuming it was battery related. Car started up fine and drove it on the highway for 30 minutes. The 9 warnings were still present. Continued using the car on Sunday on 30 minute highway drive without issue. Monday morning noticed the warnings were gone. Continued use. Around noon the warnings came back and the car refused to start. Used a jump start kit to get the engine started, but it could only go about 10mph. Attempting to push the accelerator further would stutter the car. Managed to get it to a shop where they diagnosed the fuel pump motor had failed. They told me that the part was listed in a recall. I looked up the NHTSA number - 23v858000. However, my VIN was not included in the recall.
Engine failure. Not available for inspection. Engine replaced and damaged engine return for core charge. While driving on the highway, without any for warning, engine stalled, loss of power and dash read “emissions system problem “. Vehicle was towed to Honda of denton for diagnostic testing. The engine stalling and loss of power at highway speeds caused a great risk for my family in the van. We impeded traffic and could have caused an accident. There were no warning lights and/or engine system issues leading up to the engine failure. Honda stated that it’s is a common issue with the internal engine bearing failure. They also confirmed that my VIN is not listed on the recall list for the 2 million engines effected. Honda quoted a lkq engine replacement. Declined and had replacement done at caliber collison.
My 2019 Honda Odyssey has a check engine light on due to failing fuel injectors. Honda service center told me, the cost to repair would put you out the door @ 1919. 38. My car has fewer than 60,000 miles, for me personally, it's a manufacturing fault. After seeing the check engine light, I didn't drive my car other than take it to the Honda service center.
A mil warning was displayed for emissions system problem flaging our vehicle for emissions testing and registration. The vehicle skips and does not accelerate well from 20-30mph making turns into a busy street unsafe. The computer reads a dtc of p219a. All of this matches the description in Honda service bulletin 21-010 which says it covers 2019 Odyssey of all trim levels. Local Honda dealer (auto nation Honda of chandler in chandler, az) and Honda America both refuse to extend this warenty to our vehicle for repairs. We took it to a third party Honda mechanic for a second opinion and they recommended we follow up on the service bulletin 21-010.
While traveling in my 2019 Honda Odyssey (40,000 mile) the vehicle completely shut off and placed itself into neutral. The warning lights for emissions system problem, brake problem, and parking assist problem lit up on the dashboard. The vehicle went into neutral and would not allow me to drive at all. Then the vehicle shut off all within 30 seconds. The vehicle would then not restart and now I have to get the vehicle towed to the Honda service department. After looking through other complaints there is a known recall for manufacturer defected fuel injectors for my year model Odyssey but does not appear when I search for recalls. This was an insanely dangerous situation here in oahu where the traffic is very bad. The vehicle gave no warning or check engine light and we have completed every service for the vehicle. The vehicle just randomly completely shut off and would not restart leaving my family of 5 stranded.
I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding a premature and dangerous failure of the high-pressure fuel pump in my 2019 Honda Odyssey, VIN [xxx] . This component failure occurred while my wife was travelling from new jersey to central new york on Saturday, August 9, 2025, leaving our vehicle disabled and creating a significant safety risk and financial burden. I am formally requesting full reimbursement for the repair and towing costs. On that date, while [xxx] was driving our vehicle through jim thorpe, PA, the fuel pump failed suddenly and without warning. The "emissions system problem" and "brake system problem" messages appeared on the dashboard, and the engine began "coughing" and "stuttering" before losing all motive power. This is an unacceptable and extreme safety hazard for a vehicle of this age (70,000 miles). [xxx] was forced to have the vehicle towed to our local Honda service center, burns Honda in marlton, NJ. Technicians at burns Honda diagnosed the failure, noting diagnostic trouble code p0087, indicating that the rail fuel pressure was too low. According to their report, they confirmed an internal fault with the high-pressure fuel pump after observing the fuel pressure had plummeted from a normal 3000 psi to just 70 psi. The necessary repair was a full replacement of the high-pressure fuel pump with Honda-genuine part kit 06161-rlv-305. While I understand my specific VIN may not currently be under an active recall for this component, my research shows that Honda is acutely aware of systemic issues with fuel pumps across its lineup. Honda has issued massive recalls (e. G. , NHTSA campaign number 23v-799) for fuel pumps in millions of 2018-2020 models, including the Odyssey, accord, and cr-v. The symptoms described in these official recalls (a potential for the engine to stall or lose power while driving) are identical to what we experienced. Recently Honda has recalled high-pressure fuel pumps manufactured by hitachi astemo. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (f.
While accelerating from a complete stop at a red light, immediately after refueling, the vehicle suddenly lost all propulsion power and forced itself into neutral without any driver input. The dashboard lit up with numerous system warnings at once, including: •emissions system problem •brake system problem •abs problem •brake hold system problem •electric parking brake problem •vehicle stability assist (vsa) problem the engine won't start, leaving me stranded in the middle of an active intersection. I attempted to restart the vehicle multiple times with no success. Police responded to the scene, confirmed the vehicle could not be driven, and a tow truck transported it to a nearby Honda dealership. The tow truck driver suspected an alternator failure, but the dealer’s inspection the next day could not reproduce the issue. They reported that the alternator and battery “tested fine” and that no trouble codes were stored in the ecu. No repairs were performed, and no cause was identified. Safety concern: this incident created an immediate traffic hazard. The vehicle’s sudden loss of propulsion in traffic, combined with the inability to restart, could easily have caused a collision. Multiple critical systems were reported as failed simultaneously, indicating a possible electrical, fuel system, or control module failure. I am aware of similar complaints from other 2018–2019 Honda Odyssey owners in which sudden power loss occurred, often accompanied by numerous system fault messages. Many reports link these events to fuel pump failures, loose battery/ground connections, or transmission control malfunctions. This suggests a broader pattern of intermittent safety-related defects. Requested action: please investigate this incident and similar cases for potential design or component defects.
Service engine light has been lit up and it says “emissions system problem”. I have had it tested at the shop and it states code p219a (air-fuel ratio variation of cylinder [bank 1, rear bank) which I am told has a warranty extension from Honda for 10 years or 150k miles. I am told my VIN does not quality. If other 2019 Odyssey’s have the same issue and qualify, why doesn’t mine? the fuel injectors are clogging and failing way too early for 66k miles. This has been going on for around 6 months safety concerns - potential engine failure, reduced performance, and increased emissions.
My 2019 Honda Odyssey is experiencing significant fuel system issues that match the symptoms described in NHTSA recall 21v-215 (Honda fuel pump recall), but my VIN is not currently included. I’ve had repeated problems with: – engine stalling – long crank/hard starting – multiple warning lights – a diagnostic trouble code: p0087 – fuel rail/system pressure too low these issues present a serious safety risk—the vehicle has stalled during driving, including with children in the car. Honda dealers say my VIN is not eligible for recall, but the symptoms align exactly with recalled vehicles. I’m filing this complaint in hopes that NHTSA will investigate potential undercoverage of this recall campaign. My family’s safety is at stake.
Not sure if this is the right complaint form, but we attempted to have a service center address 2 recalls on our vehicle and they would not perform them and would not provide a reason why the recalls were not addressed. The service center is autonation Honda in westminster CO [xxx] ). We dropped our vehicle off on 7/24 for an oil change and to address the recalls. They said the work was complete on Monday 7/28 but would not provide an invoice of work completed. I've attempted to contact the service center by text and phone calls and they are not responsive. I contacted corporate Honda and they confirmed that the recalls have not been addressed. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
High pressure fuel pump is causing decreased acceleration and lots of noise. Been diagnosed by Honda dealership and other repair shops.
Emissions recall work was completed on the vehicle but the vehicle continues to exhibit "start" issues. The gas pedal can be depressed and a large delay can be experienced in the vehicle responding to the pedal causing the risk of injury and accident. The vehicle was taken to the shop and error code 219 a/b was the problem meaning fuel injectors not working properly and my particular VIN was not under those covered for replacement. Multiple warning lights associated with this problem including emissions system problem, vehicle stability assist problem, power steering problem, hill start assist problem, brake assist problem. The vehicle had about 95,000 miles when these warnings started.
Intermittent hesitation to accelerate.
I am filing a complaint regarding an unresolved safety recall related to the fuel pump motor (NHTSA recall 21v215000 and/or 23v858000). In 2024, I brought my 2019 Honda Odyssey to stevenson hendrick Honda in an attempt to complete the fuel pump recall. I was informed the part was not available and no repair was completed. I was told to check back later. In preperation for a family road trip I checked back in and was told the part was still unavailable. Unfortunately, I did not receive a written confirmation of these visits. Yesterday (5/21/2025), the vehicle failed to start and had to be towed to the dealership. The error code dtc p0087 (fuel rail/system pressure too low) was logged. I have now been presented with $4,000 in repairs, all related to the same fuel pump issue that should have been corrected under the recall. This failure represents a serious safety concern and has caused financial and logistical hardship. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this as a failure of Honda to provide timely remedy for a known defect, resulting in vehicle failure and costly repairs for a safety-critical system.
Recently got a message on the instrument panel that says "emission system problem" with dtc p219a. This is related to faulty fuel injectors. Honda released service bulletin 21-010 and extended the warranty to 10y/150,000mi to cover this issue. However, Honda is saying my VIN is not covered by this campaign. From browsing owners forums and talking to the dealer, it seems that many more owners are experiencing this same issue. Clearly the original service campaign did not cover enough vins. Honda needs to expand the service campaign to cover more vins to capture all of the faulty fuel injectors.
A recall on December 18, 2023, covered the fuel pump on certain 2019 Honda Odyssey models. Mine was included. The problem has not been repaired because the dealer has told me several times that the necessary parts are unavailable. It has now been 15 months since the recall was issued. I am becoming increasingly afraid to drive this vehicle. Can you tell me how long I must wait?.
Honda of America has released a warranty extension for "mil comes on with dtc p0420/p0430, p030x, and/or p219a/b". My vehicle fits under the mentioned engine codes however, is deemed ineligible for the extended warranty. This issue with the faulty fuel injectors is a known issue that Honda has agreed to fix but is not willing to fix certain vehicles under the same warranty extension. This is a damaging part to the engine if left undealt with.
The van stopped without any warning in the middle of a three lane highway. It could not be moved without a tow truck, we sat in a busy traffic lane at considerable risk. The Honda dealer that repaired the vehicle replaced the 06161-rlv-305 fuel pump. This was a very dangerous situation. The repair cost $1089.
Dash warning lights for engine code p2019 associated with the fuel injectors come on and off intermittently. Honda has said my injectors are not under recall despite other 2019 Odysseys having been recalled for this same issue. Transmission has expired hesitation in shift moving from a complete stop and acceleration.
Vehicle has been experiencing intermittent instances of non movement when gas pedal has been pushed. This has come about sporadically and only been rectified only when vehicle driver has repeated action of "pumping" the gas pedal. In this instances, the situation has put driver and occupants at risk as it happens without warning, not allowing vehicle to drive when cars are fast approaching. Driver will attempt to move from a stopped position to drive and car has not moved. More so, we have a slight incline from our drive way, leading on to a very busy road that reaches speeds of 50+ mph. There has been instances where we have attempted to enter the road way from the driveway with approaching vehicles, very far away. Once break pedal was released, the car (due to being on a minimal incline) has begun to roll into the roadway. Driver then proceeds to press the gas pedal down to initiate movement, but vehicle does not move, driver repeats action and car begins to slowly move creating near dangerous heart pounding scenarios where the approaching vehicles that were very very far away when deciding to enter roadway to slamming on their breaks to avoid collision. Vehicle then began displaying an emission system problem warning on dashboard. This prompted us to take it to an independent mechanic. Mechanic read the code and right away suggested we contact the dealer, as this is a "known issue" for Honda and the Odysseys and the faulty fuel injectors causing the dashboard light and vehicle not to move when gas pedal is initiated. Local Honda dealership requested vehicle be brought in for diagnostic. We paid $185 to learn what we already knew. Honda has issued an extended warranty on 2018-2019 Honda Odysseys for fuel injector issues but only to certain VIN #s. Upon researching in online forums, many customers with affected year Odysseys are being denied warranty extension due to VIN #s not qualifying. This issue is clearly larger than picked and chosen VIN #s.
Vehicule does not respond when push the gas pedal. There is a delay on the vehicule respond after push the gas. Creating false idea of not pushing the gas enough. Suddenly the vehicule react loosing control.
Since purchasing the vehicle, I've had several incidents where my safety and those inside my vehicle are compromised due to the loss of drive power and stalling of the vehicle while driving. I've complained to the dealer for which they continued to assure me that there was no problem detected during the safety inspections. Recently I received the recall notice to replace the fuel pump module which was causing the issues that I've experienced with my vehicle. I took my vehicle to the dealer on 11/11/24, where it was serviced to correct the recall issues. However, I continue to have the same problems of stalling and loss of drive power when driving the vehicle. There are no warning lamps or other issues detected by the dealer according to their safety inspection. My safety and the safety of my passengers, continues to be put at risk. While driving in the highway it is especially dangerous because when I'm changing lanes the vehicle will not accelerate putting me at a risk for a collision. When I am turning left into a street, I feel that it looses power and am stalled in the middle on the street risking yet again a collision. These incidents occur at least 90 percent of the time when driving.
